When I was younger, the night before Halloween was called mischief night. we would go out with soap and TP and had some fun. (relax, this is about 30 years ago in a small town)

every once in a while we will drive through a small town and see it all TP and it is a HUGE overkill now a days.

Do any of you remeber doing this?

Of course. It was eagerly anticipated and planned for in the little NJ town we grew up in.

You'd go to school on Halloween morning and look for who's house got hit the night before.

The mean kids used eggs.

I remeber asking treebeard if they did this in NY, he laughed and said, "Every night is mischief night in New York City"

usually we would just TP houses (or the old dog#&%!$ routine which rarely worked) but we did egg houses of a few neighborhood jerks. Sad to say that one year we went a little further to a teacher that got a lot of us in trouble and/or suspended. We used a bunch of those little bottles of model paint to "egg" his house. It was very pretty the next morning. I was such a little #&%!$ when I was a kid.

While we are confessing...

We used to tic tac as well.. You know throw corn at houses.. Well one house we took sacks and i mean sacks... and just dumped it all over the place...

My friend tried to be cut and threw a whole cob of corn... missed the house but nailed the guy's window...

This was the guy who would yell at us for riding our bikes in the street in front of his house... What a jack@SS..

He should have expected it then.

We'd spend a whole year making notes on who was mean.

Not me. I was an angel. *cough*

I remember a few of the fathers would try to combat the carnage by hiding with garden hoses.

Such was our first introductions to the wet cotton-cold weather relationship.

Back in the day, Two of the big football rivals were Northampton and Whitehall..

Both coaches lived in Northampton...

I remember the one year, the Whitehall players (I'm assumung) came one night and absolutely abused the Northampton Coach's house..

Soaped Windows, Egged siding, corn and TP everywhere..

Man it was a mess..

Dutchess, there's no wet t-shirts in late Oct, just wet jeans and jackets.

Not so much fun actually. ;)

Those houses got hit hard the next year.

It was always called Cabbage Night where I live. And I believe I did TP a few trees and fill a few mailboxes with shaving cream in my past.

What region of the country calls it "Cabbage Night"?

Crash, the teens did their damage after the adults went to bed. No risk of getting sprayed. We had to watch for the cops who were just soooo thrilled with the yearly festivities. ;) (Only the lame kids got caught, but earned extra bragging rights for the next day.)

Devil's night in Michigan. We never were allowed to go out but would sit behind the basketball backstop on the garage roof with water balloons and hose ready. Good times.
