If anyone is planning on hiking and parking overnight in the Grayson Highlands area, there have been some recent problems with vandalized cars. This has been an ongoing problem for some time now.”

“I do know that there will be a joint task force with Grayson and Smyth co and State police in and around the entire area also the Rangers will be out in full force. Doesn't mean you are full proof but they have recognized that there is a problem especially this time of year during trail days. Several local residents will also be included to report and suspicious activity. This i know will be hard to do if not impossible.

Just don't park at any trail heads. During Trail Days.”

“Hey windigrrl, could you post the recipe for the dutch oven pineapple upsidedown cake.

“12 inch dutch oven -
Yellow cake mix
1/2 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 can pineapple

Follow directions on cake mix. I like to use the pineapple juice instead of water. Melt butter in dutch oven. Sprinkle brown sugar. Place pineapple over brown sugar. Pour cake mix on top of pineapple. Place 6 coals under oven and 18 coals on lid. Cook for 25-30 minutes.”

“Sorry guys, but I am not going to Trail Days this year. I am very close to getting another job and it will take some time to build up leave for a multi-day hike. The wildflowers are out and I am able take the time off now. So yup, I am dumping you guys to walk in the woods for a few days.

“I have wanted to go to Trail Dayz for YEARS....YEARS...and I found out that we are having a whole house full of company this weekend starting Friday...cause Lee's daughter graduates on MONDAY ( isn't that stupid to have graduation on a Monday)
..I had planned on coming to TD & being home Sunday eve....But I have so much to do....
...so it's not going to happen this year :(”

“I was just talking to Kermit and Lightfoot (they are heading to trail days after doing an AT/Iron Mountain loop..without me no less..), about this last weekend, and my feeling is that the economy and all may affect the amount of swag..

Of course it may affect the amount of people there, sooooo the end result may be a wash...

Many stores are practically giving away product (70% off sales, etc). maybe the outdoor industry is in teh same boat - manufacturing more product than people aren't buying simply because they don't want to lay off their workers. A write-off of a promo item might make the books look better.”
