It would be fun to actually stay at the leanto by the lake.”

I can't cross country ski at New Year but the doctor said I could snowshoe in February as long as I don't push it or go too dang far.”

I may just call him out as well and go, calling him out on all his promises. GOING TO COST HIM DEARLY and a way to get him to buy me near winter gear. Damn right.

“Hmmm... I wish I had a better Idea of what to expect. A long hike from the trail head I couldn't do and I don't have skis or snowshoes. Otherwise I might be able to be convinced. Anybody have extra winter transport they could let me borrow? I'd need a 205-210 cm ski and 9.5 or so boots. I've never used snowshoes so I don't know what those would need to be.

I doubt I'll make this one, but a couple of years ago when I went to FYAO the hike in was just a few miles in and, for me anyway, pretty easy-going. A lot of the freezers take all their gear in on home-made sleds. Two years ago we didn't have any snow, so I never got to use my snow shoes, and from what Fridge says last year everyone had plenty of snow (get Fridge to tell you about the hike in sometime). I'd say if AmyG puts you down by a pond, then take some crampons if you want to go out onto the pond.”
