We are back, left late Saturday Afternoon because wife did not want to stay out and freeze another night. We arrived Friday afternoon to 13 degrees. I had left my tent poles at home but Spam was kind enough to let us use his extra 6 man tent which unfortunately was way to big for my heater to work effiently. We greatly appreciate the use of you tent Spam. We had a great dinner of campers stew and chili and after sitting around the campfire until about 8:30, we all retired. Temp was 8F. Woke up after freezing our butts off to find the temp was -3F. OMG it was cold. Heater kept my water from freezing but did little to keep us warm.
6 of us went hiking while 5 stayed in camp. 2, fullmoon and fridge got sick so they along with my wife, jb and Marko stayed in camp.
The hike was very difficult and included a hike downhill on a very unused trsil and then back up the Pinch In trail was is procaimed to be the toughest mile east of the rockies and it was.
After getting back into camp around 4pm, I conferred with my wife and we packed up and left to warmer climes. All in all we had a good time with the exception of the cold. She enjoyed meeeting everyone and said she will be back if it is warmer next year. Hopefully I can talk her into the Trail Days.

i'm glad you got back safe yota. tell your wife it was a pleasure meeting her... boy it sure was cold this weekend. Hired Geek and I ended up leaving saturday night, due to him having to get back to Augusta, and me not feeling very well from being sick.

Either way, a GREAT trip, like always, and I'm already looking forward to next year.

This is why you guys need to plan this trip in warmer weather...not January!! I thought of you all and hated that you were so close & didn't get to see ya :-( Maybe one of these days.

what I did
while you guys were freezing, Saturday we got up and cooked a big county breakfast, went hiking at the local mall, bought 3 pairs of pants and two shirts for 60% off. Went to mexico for lunch- have a few beers with my burrito and chile releno, back to the house for a nap, went to see ECU vs UTEP, back home for the Carolina game. Sunday county ham biskets, church, little office work for tomorrow- now for some football.

Hey guys, it was great to see everybody.

I got home this afternoon after spending last night about half way home at my sister-in-law's near Charlottesville.

Last night was pretty chilly and I sat around a fire for my third night in a row.
They have a steel fire pit on their patio and I spent more time around the fire than watching football.
