there were many more qualified and talented democrats out there to chose from when biden chose Obama ... oh wait, the democrats thank Obama is the most qualified and talented person in our country and biden is the second most qualified and talented.

I honestly and without a doubt would take Sarah Palin over either of those two for president right now with the experience she has.

I would say that there are people more qualified on paper concerning foreign affairs for president than Sarah Palin at the moment, but that could easily change once she is working on a national level and turns her attention to it. I think she is highly qualified when it comes to energy experience, taxation, weeding out corruption, issues that involve domestic issues like day to day living and running a home, I think her experiences on the PTA gives her more insight into education that years on some congressional panel. Given all that, she is only running for vice president and has the time to gain knowledge and experience in whatever area she is not up to speed on.

I am not so sure that there is anyone that I could say would definitely make a better vice president than her. People with the experience you are talking about should either be running for president or running congressional committees.

the actual quote is that you can see Russia from an Island in Alaska.
hyway

I'm aware of that. I'm also aware that the island is Little Diomede Island which is about two miles across the channel from Diomede Island (Russia), and that the statement came in response to a question about her qualifications to deal with Russia. I used the Tina Fey quote on purpose to see who I could rile up. You are the winner.

BTW, both the Diomedes are inhabited by native people. During the cold war, the Diomede folks kept trying to get the Little Diomede folks to "come on over." Beyond that, it's not exactly clear how being able to see Diomede Island from Little Diomede Island makes one an expert on Russian relations. Perhaps one of you erudite McPalin worshipers can explain that for us. I'm sure there must be a connection.

Oh, I forgot. She's hot.

geobeet, if you would take off your partisan glasses you might have seen that I said this “the actual quote is that you can see Russia from an Island in Alaska. That's a factual statement but it doesn't really mean anything. My point was that if you guys stuck to the truth once in a while then people wouldn't automatically assume you were getting your facts from late night comedians.

Hyway - the fact here is that she's got no depth of knowledge - to more or less anything outside of her town and maybe her state. The fact that she hasn't been paying attention to the issues for the past few years, even while governor, show she's not ready for the job.

If Russia is such a close neighbor then maybe she should at least have been able to offer some history into Russian/Alaksa relations - but she couldn't - that would have tied in with that response.

Obama rebounds in polls as economic crisis bites by Stephen Collinson
2 hours, 11 minutes ago

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Democrat Barack Obama topped two key national polls Thursday which showed the financial crisis reverberating through the White House race and "Palin power" fading for the Republican ticket.

The Democratic hopeful, who has been lacerating rival John McCain over his capacity to rescue the US economy, led 49 to 45 percent in a new poll of likely voters nationwide by Quinnipiac University.

In a CBS/New York Times survey, Obama was up by 48 percent to 43 percent, with the race apparently reverting to the narrow Democratic ascendency seen before two presidential nominating conventions.

Here they are with exactly the candidate they have been waiting for and you will see come Nov 4 that they won't put him in the whitehouse. the racist in teh rebublican party don't have that problem because black or white his policies are what they are voting against.

You all know, thats why you are so scared. you hoped that the repubs wouldn't come out for a centrist like McCain and you hoped that would be enough to count the loss of racist democrat votes. Then Plain comes in and revitalizes the right and will get them not only to come out and vote but to actively campaign for McCain.

Republican official seen failing sobriety test in police video
Published: Monday September 22, 2008

Says Palin nomination helps him by showing "everybody who's running for political office is as human as those sitting back home"

A Republican councilman in Columbia, SC was arrested for drunken driving in July, the third DUI arrest for Paul Lindemann, who is currently running for reelection.

His local paper, the Rock Hill Herald, has now obtained a police video of the arrest through a Freedom of Information Act request and has made it public. According to the police report, Lindemann was "highly intoxicated" and "significantly impaired" and had nearly run into two motorcyclists several times.

In the video, Lindemann agrees to take a sobriety test but repeatedly fails to get through the alphabet, attempting instead to segue from "W" back to "H." He has even more trouble counting backwards from 32 to 18, stammering, "32-31-32-30 -- 31-32-31-32-33-33 -- 31-32-30-29 -- 19-18-17-16-18 -- 20-21-22."

He is then arrested.

Oooh, it seems the prefered debate forum was a widdle too much for the hockey mom to handle...

LMAO!!!

The Obama and McCain campaigns have agreed to an unusual free-flowing format for the three televised presidential debates, which begin Friday, but the McCain camp fought for and won a much more structured approach for the questioning at the vice-presidential debate, advisers to both campaigns said.

Mr. Obama, shown in Florida on Friday, won an agreement for the first debates to be about foreign policy and national security.
At the insistence of the McCain campaign, the Oct. 2 debate between the Republican nominee for vice president, Gov. Sarah Palin, and her Democratic rival, Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr., will have shorter question-and-answer segments than those for the presidential nominees, the advisers said. There will also be much less opportunity for free-wheeling, direct exchanges between the running mates.

McCain advisers said they had been concerned that a loose format could leave Ms. Palin, a relatively inexperienced debater, at a disadvantage and largely on the defensive.

The wrangling was chiefly between the McCain-Palin camp and the nonpartisan Commission on Presidential Debates, which is sponsoring the forums.

Palin bans reporters from meetings with leaders

NEW YORK - Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, who has not held a press conference in nearly four weeks of campaigning, on Tuesday banned reporters from her first meetings with world leaders, allowing access only to photographers and a television crew.

CNN, which was providing the television coverage for news organizations, decided to pull its TV crew, effectively denying Palin the high visibility she had sought.

[LMAO]

Palin planned to meet Afghan President Hamid Karzai and Colombian President Alvaro Uribe in New York on Tuesday as the United Nations General Assembly convenes this week. She also was expected to meet with former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger.

Those sessions and meetings scheduled for Wednesday are part of the Republican campaign's effort to give Palin experience in foreign affairs. She has never met a foreign head of state and first traveled outside North America just last year.

[What experience!]

The campaign told the TV producer, print and wire reporters in the press pool that follows the Alaska governor that they would not be admitted with the photographers and camera crew taken in to photograph the meetings. At least two news organizations, including The Associated Press, objected and were told that the decision was not subject to discussion.

Palin has been criticized for avoiding taking questions from reporters or submitting to one-on-one interviews. She has had just two major interviews since Republican presidential candidate John McCain chose her as his running mate on Aug. 29.

On Wednesday, McCain and Palin were expected to meet jointly with Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili and Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko. Palin was then to meet separately with Iraqi President Jalal Talabani, Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
