I find that prophecy can be a very good learning tool and just one more example of His true deity. I have bee to Crosswalk before and fell away from it because of the hardliner approach many took in the hardcore music threads. I will give it another try and maybe see you there as Poopypants. Sumstew I can?t remember seeing you here before. Could it be that you are just a troll looking to start a fight? If not please accept my sincere apology.” 9:33:51 PM 5/05/00 RE: Who Is Jesus? “Nigal, I rarely pay much attention to their music reviews. I've used the site mainly for study and I do check out the movie reviews. Music is something that I have not really changed my taste in since becoming a Christian. There is a definate limit to what I'll listen to in the line of lyrics but for the most part I cannot stomach Christian pop/rock. There are a few bands that're good, not many. It all seems so soft and lite.” 12:29:58 AM 5/06/00 RE: Who Is Jesus? “I listen to about 50/50 Christian music. I can?t even listen to CCM stuff like Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith. A lot of the people on the music boards bash some of the hard-core Christian bands for being Christians who are artists and not being a Christian band. I like the harder type of music like Bride, Tourniquet, Mortification, Precious Death, Sacred Warrior and some older stuff. I still find some great inspiration from secular groups too like Pink Floyd, Dream Theater and Creed.” 8:24:29 AM 5/06/00 RE: Who Is Jesus? “I just finished a book by Lee Stroebel. He is/was an investigative reporter for the Chicago Tribune and a devout Atheist. He went out to disprove Christianity and ultimately became born again. The book is called the Case for Christ and is very compelling. VERY well researched and documented. He covers just about every point and plays devil's advocate with every person he interviews. A MUST read for anyone interested in the subject.” 8:56:51 AM 5/06/00 RE: Who Is Jesus? “nigal, check out the following: LAMB , ISRAEL'S HOPE,I AM, etc.i think you'll enjoy them.” 2:04:46 PM 5/06/00 RE: Who Is Jesus? “The son of God! but then were all sons of God. Hes a man ,but then half the population in the world are men. He was a teacher, but then again not all teachers have everything they teach remembered corectly. He is a legend, and therefor makes for good storytelling. He was not born in Bethleham,it has been proven. He was not hung on a cross with only 2 other men ,there were over 500 crucified the same day Jesus was. People who claim to be christains need to read and study what your Lord taught you,THE KABBALAH,THE TORAH,and THE TULMUD you cant possibly know what your talking about till you do. if it was good enough for him to teach why isnt it good enough for you to study!” 10:12:02 PM 5/06/00 RE: Who Is Jesus? “Mormoan, huh? Is it true that those folks wear nineteenth century underwear in order to get into heaven?” 2:11:03 PM 5/07/00 RE: Who Is Jesus? “The person, Jesus, has not been historically proven. This doesn't necessarily mean you do or don't have to believe in him. Many theorize that he was dreated in the image of Dionysius, (a Greek god). I suppose he is controversial because many people feel that it is their sacred duty to shove him down everyone else's throats, without respect to that person's own faith or spiritual grounding. Maybe it is because the bible says to refrain from judging, but many who call themselves christian use their interpretation of the bible to judge everyone but themselves. why is there a myriad of christian denominations?” 11:47:16 PM 5/07/00 RE: Who Is Jesus? “dunadan, the awnser is simple :STUPIDITY.! they have gone so far from what the original church was that they have no idea how to return.jesus told them to go and wait for what the Father had promised would happen ,and before the "church" was even begun there were already divisions and dissagreements as to policy/beliefs. it has not gotten any better in 2k years, they just pile on more crap to keep the "sheeple" in line.as he said of the teachers of his day :you put horrible burdens on people, too heavy to bear ,yet you lift not a finger to help. the church is drowning in its own filth, and stupidity runs rampant (see TBN ) why do you think he asked :when the son of man returns, shall he find faith on the earth ?” 2:04:04 PM 5/08/00 RE: Who Is Jesus? “Garments, yes, 19th century underwear. NO Calvin Klein's, NO Tommy Hilfiger's, or NO you won't get into heaven.” 2:41:53 PM 5/08/00 RE: Who Is Jesus? “we're all naked in the eyes of God.” 2:45:34 PM 5/08/00 RE: Who Is Jesus? “Eddie Haskell is God.” 3:01:27 PM 5/08/00 RE: Who Is Jesus? “Hello Clarence Rutherford! Where the hell is heaven anyway?” 3:37:28 PM 5/08/00 RE: Who Is Jesus? “Dunadan & Ridgerunner: You've both hit the nail on the head. As I see it, the biggest christian weakness is their unwillingness to temper faith with other sources of understanding. That's what locks individual christians into only one unchanging view of the world, that's why there's so many different interpretations of the bible, that's why christians are notoriously intolerant, and so on. For christians, there is no place for free thinking in their faith, and that is why christianity turns people into robots...only able to see the world in black and white. If people really practiced christianity like it's supposed to be, they would be more tolerant and caring, and would also be open to new ideas. The world would be a better place.” 4:18:08 PM 5/08/00 RE: Who Is Jesus? “The person, Christopher Colubus, has not been historically proven. This doesn't necessarily mean you do or don't have to believe in him. Many theorize that he was dreated in the image of Leif Erickson, (a Viking explorer). I suppose he is controversial because many people feel that it is their patriotic duty to shove him down everyone else's throats, without respect to that person's own intellect or historical grounding. Maybe it is because history books say to refrain from educating, but many who call themselves historians use their interpretation of the history of the world to judge everyone but themselves. why is there a myriad of historical recordings?” 4:58:46 PM 5/08/00 RE: Who Is Jesus? “Why are there so many denominations? Divisions and pride. Christ said the church would be scattered. He also said some thing along these lines: To what shall I compare this generation to. I played a joyful song and you would not dance, I played a dirge and you would not weep. He calls to all, many different ways. It is up to us, if we shall answer.” 8:25:07 PM 5/08/00 RE: Who Is Jesus? “Nomad, There are a great array of historical records about Colombus... There are myths about him, but there is an abundance of journals, logs and biographical evidence and knowledge about him. Its odd that you should choose to use this example. I really can't figure it.” 9:26:39 PM 5/08/00 RE: Who Is Jesus? “Historical Existance - The historical case for the existance of Jesus is pretty strong. Not much doubt among professional historians. The question remains: Who is Jesus ? Controversial - Jesus was incredibly controversial ! In a time when the Judaism was defined by temple worship in Jerusualum, directed by the scribes and pharaises, and overseen by the Roman government, every single thing he said or did was railing against the status quo. Quote from John's Gospel - The phrase "... no one comes to the father except through me" has lots of possibilities, IMHO the least of which is a mandate to embrace (only) the Christian faith. Can't I read this as saying "... except through me (and the kind of example I have set in this world concerning unconditional love, forgiveness, hope for the outcast of society, etc.). Taking that approach, I see the statement as inclusive, not exclusive of other faiths. Christian Churches - Everything human, by necessity, must stray from the perfection of God. When we opted to eat from the "tree of the knowledge of good and evil, the consequence is that our free will causes us to make decisions that often differ from the perfection of God. No Christian church can be perfectly true to Jesus' message. We're only human, we just need to be thankful for this wonderful life, the beauty of this universe, and do the best we can to respond to the love around us.” 1:49:54 PM 5/09/00 RE: Who Is Jesus? “According to the Koran, the disciples of Jesus asked of him: "Is thy Lord able to send down food to us from heaven?" and Jesus' reply was: "Keep your duty to Allah if you are believers." That is to say, instead of praying to God to send food they should seek their spiritual betterment through keeping their duty to God. According to the Gospel of John, some followers of Jesus asked him to show them the sign of bringing bread down from heaven, and Jesus told them to seek the eternal bread, not the bread which decays but the "true bread from heaven". The meaning is that they should look for their spiritual sustenance. Strangely enough, the gospels record many miracles of Jesus to do with increasing the amount of food and drink available, e.g. feeding the five thousand, turning water into wine, multiplying the fish caught by the disciples to an enormous amount.” 4:01:49 PM 5/09/00 RE: Who Is Jesus? “Was Jesus a vegetarian? The Garden of Eden, God's perfect world, was vegetarian (Gen. 1:29-30). Immediately, God calls this ideal and non-exploitative relationship "good" (Gen. 1:31). There follow many years of fallen humanity, when people held slaves, waged war, ate animals and committed various other violent acts. But the prophets tell us that the peaceable kingdom will be nonviolent and vegetarian; even the lion will lie down with the lamb (e.g., Isaiah 11). Jesus is the Prince of Peace, who ushers in this new age of nonviolence. When Christians pray, "Your will be done, on Earth as it is in heaven," the one prayer given to us by Jesus, this obligates us to change our lives, to make choices that are as merciful and loving as possible. There will be no factory farms and slaughterhouses in heaven.” 4:04:53 PM 5/09/00 RE: Who Is Jesus? “Contrary to what you might have learned as a child or assumed as an adult, the Jesus of the Bible was not a revered teacher that everyone loved and respected. He was a radical who was reviled and feared by the religious establishment. He didn't die so that we could read about the good things he said and did, but so that you can know, really know, the mighty God of the Universe.” 4:19:00 PM 5/09/00 RE: Who Is Jesus? “My own belief in God is just that -- a matter of belief, not knowledge. My respect for Jesus arises from the fact that He seems to have been the most virtuous inhabitant of Planet Earth.” 5:09:51 PM 5/09/00 RE: Who Is Jesus? “Hey guys, Thanks for all the insite. I know where I stand on this issue, I was just curious where you all stood. I believe in Jesus Christ but my belief is more than a head knowledge of Christ. I believe with my heart that Jesus Christ was real; he existed on this earth and he suffered and died a horrible death on the cross so that all might have eternal life (John 3:16). Unfortunately there are more hypocrites on the face of this earth and especially in America that claim to know Christ and yet they don't show the love of Christ. These turn people away from the truth of the Bible. Please don't allow another person's action's become your excuse for not believing in Christ. As I talk with people, I see more and more that this is the case. Unbelievers pointing the fingers at so called 'Christians' and using their folly as an excuse not to become a Christian. It is quite obvious that Jesus Christ was alive and real. Overwhelming evidence supports this claim. Click here for more. It is up to you whether you would like to accept him as Lord and Saviour or reject him as liar, lunatic or just plain legend. Bruce, I thank you for your post and suggested reading. I ordered the book written by Lee Stroebel just yesterday from amazon.com. Looking forward to reading it!” 7:55:48 PM 5/10/00 RE: Who Is Jesus? “As easily as I get sucked into these never-ending debates and as bad as they usually end up I thank you for bring it up. I?m also sorry I called you a troll. One thing I?ve learned here is that I should just simply state my personal belief and leave it at that. Jesus never was one for long drawn out debates so maybe I shouldn?t either. When Jesus sent the disciples out to spread the word he told them if a town accepted them to join them, if they didn?t, shake the dust from your sandals and be on your way. Looking back at the people who planted the seeds of knowledge in me years ago it wasn?t done in a debate. In Christ, Poopypants <><” 8:10:22 PM 5/10/00 RE: Who Is Jesus? “Them guys did all the right things, in all the right places.” 11:11:00 PM 5/10/00 RE: Who Is Jesus? “null” 11:19:13 PM 5/10/00 RE: Who Is Jesus? “Sumstew, who are you? Where ya from?” 1:07:20 AM 5/11/00 RE: Who Is Jesus? “Joy, I am a 25 year old male from Wisconsin. I love the outdoors and as you can tell, I am always up for a good debate, although so much more can be said in person than through post on the internet as you all know. Joy, I enjoyed reading your post as well. Where are you from?” 1:27:44 AM 5/11/00 RE: Who Is Jesus? “Michigan, home of the killer mosquito. You ever hike over here Sumstew?” 10:56:02 AM 5/11/00 RE: Who Is Jesus? “Hey Joy, Yeah actually...I have been up in the porcupine Mts. a time or two. We escape to duh U.P. quite a bit. I lived in Detroit last summer. What an experience! But I live only a mile away from the Kettle Marines in Southeast, Wi. right now so that is where most of my retreats take place.” 1:27:10 AM 5/12/00 RE: Who Is Jesus? “Hey, I lived in Detroit for a summer too! Now I don't go there for ANYTHING. Sumstew you should come back and go to Isle Royale. Just ask Le Subtil, it is incredible!” 10:39:23 AM 5/12/00 RE: Who Is Jesus? “Jesus done left chicago, and he's bound for new orleans.” 11:14:03 AM 5/12/00 RE: Who Is Jesus? “...Jacksonville Mississippi, and all points in between...” 12:40:12 PM 5/12/00 RE: Who Is Jesus? “there was a controversial book written i think back in the 1930's where the author researched the life of jesus. between the ages of 12 and 30 years of when there is some mystery surrounding jesus's whereabouts this author found evidence of a man with qualities and description very similar to jesus studying in a tibetan monastary during this time of his "absence". there records still exist in this monastary. this author proved that jesus could have easily treked to this part of the world. he then discusses how upon jesus return his teachings and ways are very similar to buddhism, such as tolerance. so theoretically this israelite studying in the tibetan monastary may have been jesus christ. has anyone else heard of or read this book? i do not recall the title or the author but if you know it please respond.” 1:26:36 PM 5/12/00 RE: Who Is Jesus? “Although that is not easily proven, historically, I find it a plausible explanation for Jesus and the way he taught. Yes, I have heard of that explanation for Jesus' lost years.” 2:10:50 AM 5/13/00 RE: Who Is Jesus? “i'm probably going to be damned, just for showing you THIS. i'm definately going to be damned for showing you THIS. "Shower can be exchanged for bubble bath upon request."” 11:23:13 PM 1/22/01 RE: Who Is Jesus? “Man, You surf the web WAAAAAAAY too much!” 11:30:53 PM 1/22/01 RE: Who Is Jesus? “That is a HOOT! What impresses me though is that instead of making a new thread, Rad remembered a thread from 8 months ago that he could rekindle, and thus enhance the humor factor. So I think it would be more accurate to say "Man, you spend WAAAAAAAY too much time on Trail Talk!"” 12:24:08 AM 1/23/01 RE: Who Is Jesus? “Rad, now I am sure that you are the pimp daddy. (In hell, that is.) LOL” 1:05:14 AM 1/23/01 RE: Who Is Jesus? “Wow, from that discription Jesus must be my brother. I'm blond, blue eyed, 6'4", caucasian, working on a college degree, athletic build, don't smoke and drink socially. I also enjoy all that classical music and stuff. So if anybody wants a date with me - Jesus's brother, let me know. Just call me Jebro. Awww Yeah. I wonder if I have any of those miraculous powers? You are all blessed in my sight. I'm goin' to hell.” 1:39:30 AM 1/23/01 RE: Who Is Jesus? “Yeah, when the G and I were young he used to beat me up for taking his baseball glove and stuff, but it's all good. We got real close when he was in high school. I would give him hell when he brought girls over though. Oh man, I remember when he brought over this girl named Steph; wow she was hot. Long story short, Steph and I are an item now. Only a couple weeks ago G, his current woman, Steph and I went and watched "Dude, Where's my car?" Good double date. Point is, G and I are close. I can't say I'm not ever jealous though, he always got more attention than I did.” 1:49:53 AM 1/23/01 RE: Who Is Jesus? 3:50:09 AM 1/23/01 RE: Who Is Jesus? “ROTFLMAO LOL!!!!!!!” 7:18:01 AM 1/23/01 RE: Who Is Jesus? “This one was not cool at all Rad!” 8:16:54 AM 1/23/01 RE: Who Is Jesus? “Steve Hiker, I certainly hope that link was a joke. That is some of the most intolerant, outrageous, and enraging bullsh!t I have ever seen.” 8:34:39 AM 1/23/01 RE: Who Is Jesus? “SPAM, i'm sorry if i offended you, but being a follower of Christ myself, i can still find humor in people or groups who think that they are somehow up to par or can compare to our Savior, the greatest man who lived. i am in no way mocking or thinking less of Him. it doesn't matter whether it is a group who think that they can clone Him, or playboys who think that they ARE Him. i don't see anything wrong with ridiculing these people. i'm sorry if you feel differently and i'm VERY sorry if i offended you.” 9:10:09 AM 1/23/01 RE: Who Is Jesus? “Oldie, I don't think that link is a joke. There are people here in the NW who walk around with signs and shout that crap at people on the street.” 11:26:05 AM 1/23/01 RE: Who Is Jesus? “That website is so goddam hilarious I can't believe it. But it's odd, whenever I post it on the net I always get a few people who think I'm being serious and that I'm a fundamentalist Christian, neither of which is correct. It's pretty obvious that yourgoingtohell.com is not a serious website. It's downright ridiculous and a barrel of laughs!” 11:49:23 AM 1/23/01 RE: Who Is Jesus? “Oldie, I don't even consider myself to be a Christian in the traditional sense, so yes, I definitely posted the site as a joke. Jeez people, lighten up LOL” 11:52:51 AM 1/23/01 RE: Who Is Jesus? “ Capturing my memories The frontier of loss They try to escape across the street where Jesus stripped bare And raped the spirit he was supposed to nurture In the name of my in the name of my” 11:53:22 AM 1/23/01 Jump to Page << prev
