In Memoriam - Bearmagnet
The Glacier Gang recently returned from their trip to the Belly River area of Glacier National Park.

While we were there, we held a memorial service for Phil Saeli (Bearmagnet) who was a member of our group on the original Glacier Gang trip back in July of 2004.

We had beautiful weather for the memorial and a portion of his ashes were scattered on July 23 in a forest glade approximately 250 feet west of the Elizabeth Lake Head (ELH) campground in GNP.

If anyone would like to visit this area on a trip to GNP, the coordinates are:

48º 52.288N
113º 43.721W

In addition, we fashioned a wooden raft and placed a wildflower bouquet on it and sent it down the Belly River through Elizabeth Lake in memory of his "thermarafting" when he was there in 2004.

To view photos of the memorial - In Memoriam - PJ Saeli - Bearmagnet - GNP July 2008

When through the woods, and forest glades I wander,
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees.
When I look down, from lofty mountain grandeur
And see the brook, and feel the gentle breeze.

Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

It was an honor for us to be able to do this.

We will miss him greatly, but he will never be forgotten. We felt that his spirit was with us on this trip.

How long have you been away? Bearmagnet lost his fight with cancer and passed away last December.

We did this memorial for him because he was with us in GNP back in 2004 and became a friend of ours on and off the forums.

TY Squilax for the catch-up, the last cupla months I've been moving from Phx to WNC, so I've not been here much ... well, any. So before that I've just missed seeing the postings about BM, it was a shocker when I saw your memorial hike and scattering of his ashes.

Yáll are some wonderful friends for doing that, pretty neat.

12/13 will be one year since bear left us.
in his honor, treebeard will dedicate his radio show to bear.

Sat 2:00 to 6:00 pm

www.homegrownradionj.org

after that, myself and tree and earthnsky and lyra and marko, will go out and spread some of his ashes

Stu will be taking calls during the show. if you would like to call and say something in bears honor like a funny story or a song you know he liked that would be wonderful.. I will post the number on Fri. But please be respectful of the fact that it is a private number.

Yeah, but consider buying the trees through Arborday.org. They have really nice memorial packages where they plant the trees for you in a state forest, etc.

I know a really good one....

Here Today ... by Paul McCartney. That is one of the best tribute songs to a friend who has passed ever written. It was of course written for John Lennon.

Apart from that... Lust for Life by Iggy Pop.
