This is a trip I've been threatening to do for a few years now. Does Indiana require yaks to be licensed? My Ohio license is expired.

Nigal-I don't think you need to have a license.
Oldog-I think we will be at the campsite between noon and 1 PM.

boat license
yes nigal you're supposed to have a non-motarized DNR lake permit-they are cheap at least-about 7-10$. Coyote will probably know of some places to get one.
You can probably order online from the indiana dept of natural resources.

Attila is correct! I talked with Coyote this morning,he's out on a boy scout trip, and he said that the boat license is $5. You can get one at any state park.

Oldog we will be at the Campsite between 12:00 and 1:00 there was a pinic table at one of the campsites when you get to the lake turn North if you get there before we try and find something with some good hammock trees.

Let's try and use this thread as it will go to the trail talk page

Well everything is a go for next weekend me and otis went down to Crooked Creek Ramp and put in and floated almost up to the Penn. and then back the Parking Lot at the boat ramp the water level is out of the Parking Lot and the lake is a good level to park I'm sure we will be able to find a good place to camp on saturday

I still have a couple of kayaks if someone wants to borrow one.

Are we doing anything special in the way of food on Saturday night since we are bringing stuff by boat? I can bring my dutch oven and fix something if anyone is interested. I did apple cobbler last weekend and I think it went over well. Let me know.

Well I was going to bring my fish fryer and maybe we could catch some fish and cook them up.

But I have heard fishing on the lake is hard because of the lake being twice the size and hard to find fish.

How about bring a grate and everyone bring steak or chicken what every you like and we'll cook it over the fire maybe baked potato

Oldag there is some nice places down to the south with even a table or two down there.

We can bring alot more in the boats.Any ideas?

Attila another buddy is going too what we could do is to shorten the trip and put in at Cutright's off of 446 and still camp at the same spot then if we get on Sunday and have some bad storms to deal with we would only need to paddle 1 mile to get back to the truck. We could set up camp and then paddle where ever we could take Maximus down to Patton Cave you can paddle right up to it now.Or go wherever.Oldog and us are it Windigrrl said Marapoisa broke her wrist

Well I guess it depends how hard the rain might come down. If its lookin ugly by fridays forcast, then the shorter trip will be better. If its not lookin so bad, then the longer trip would work.

Mariposa get well soon.and go easy on the typing.

Gee whiz!! I can remember a time when we went no matter what!! Most of the time it ended up being a good time even if it rained a little!!
Now what would happen if you guys were in Alaska?? Surely you wouldn’t bail up there??
Guess were all just getting old……….

thats the thaing about doing those long hikes once you commented its rain or shine but on a hike as close as the Deam its just easier to bail, besides the Wonder Dog freaks out in the thunder
