The first time I heard LS was in 1973 in the MSU Bookstore. Gimme Three Steps was playing and I was hooked.

I loved that band.

3 California Police Officers Dead, 1 Gravely Wounded After Traffic Stop

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,510037,00.html

The slain officers were identified as Sgt. Mark Dunakin, 40, who was killed at the first shooting. The officers killed at the second location were Sgt. Ervin Romans, 43, and Sgt. Daniel Sakai, 35.

Oakland police retracted a statement they released earlier Sunday that a fourth officer shot had died. Spokesman Jeff Thomason said 41-year-old Officer John Hege was pronounced brain dead but was still on life support Sunday afternoon.

Oh man. Sorry to read that. I met England Dan and John Ford Coley at an airport in Texas when I was 18. They gave me free tickets and offered to have me picked up in a limo and taken to their concert that night. My grandmother, who I was going to go visit at the time, wouldn't let me go.

Sorry about the whole health care thing on the Natasha Richardson death...but um...

http://www.nypost.com/seven/03262009/postopinion/opedcolumnists/canadacare_may_have_killed_natasha_161372.htm

Canadian health care de-emphasizes widespread dissemination of technology like CT scanners and quick access to specialists like neurosurgeons. While all the facts of Richardson's medical care haven't been released, enough is known to pose questions with profound implications.

Richardson died of an epidural hematoma -- a bleeding artery between the skull and brain that compresses and ultimately causes fatal brain damage via pressure buildup. With prompt diagnosis by CT scan, and surgery to drain the blood, most patients survive.

Yes, every ski area should have one. And unfortunately, Ms. Richardson declined further medical treatment. Should Mommy Government have required that?

Kleetn...if you read (for you that means sounding out each word) you will see that the article said when she was transported rapid evaluation would have saved her.

My original theory that the lack of CT scans and neurosurgeons was the cause of her demise was supported. I know its hard to take...but it was true.

I have transported head injury patients who were starting to sieze and "posture" but they survived. When Ms. Richardson was transported she was alert and oriented.

So you know of a lot of US towns with populations of 9000 that have that? Hey, maybe, just maybe, they should have had helicopter service available, that may have saved some time getting her to the nearest trauma center - AFTER she initially refused treatment.

I normally ignore bullshyte and really should ignore the lies (apparently it's called 'opinion' down there), but Richardson had a cat scan upon arrival at the local hospital. The discussion is whether her refusal to go to the hospital for two hours or the 3 hour drive to Montreal removed any possibility of survival. We'll never know, but it looks like we'll be getting heli-service some time soon.
