What a historic day. Bin Laden is meeting his 72 Virginians, and not doing so well at their hands.

good fvcking riddance. but honestly, i'm not going to believe it without photographic evidence, especially with this suspicious burial at sea. this killing was only done for obama's re-election.

What news to hear when the alarm went off at 4:00 a.m.! I only wish it could have happened almost a decade ago.

I think the burial at see makes good sense. Anywhere oh land it could be a shrine - people would come visit.

Yeah, it would be almost as popular as Jim Morrison's grave.

A shrine would be a great place for intelligence gathering purposes.

How about a shrine in a urinal at ground zero?

re Crash "=/= famous"

If one does not pay attention to the news then yes, you might not know who he was or his contributions over the years. Had he been some idol contestant I suspect no such comment from you.

Haines has been an icon in financial news for over 20 years. He was akin to Cavuto, Dobbs, or Varney.

oh my. arent we culturally sophisticated. playing the american idol card, are we? are you going to smugly announce that you dont have a television next? ~stares at spirit coyote~

financial news =/= famous. he may have been important, he may have been significant, i may be a philistine for not knowing who the guys is. he is still not famous

He was akin to Cavuto, Dobbs, or Varney

also not famous.

Tiger Woods is famous
Cher is famous
Tom Brokaw and Katie Couric - famous

those guys you refer to are not famous - well known perhaps, but not famous.

To be famous you need to be recognized OUTSIDE the realm in which you live/act or make your living.

RA - "To be famous you need to be recognized OUTSIDE the realm in which you live/act or make your living"

LOL, tell that to Crash. I had never even heard the name Harvey Pekar, let alone know what he did. But, I can see how a comic book writer is more famous than a financial journalist to some.....

this is merely banter between two old friends. chinmusic has been the dorky older brother that i never had for the past several years. ive watched him grow from the guy tripping and cursing over every tree root on the trail, to the guy that i have to yellow-blaze to keep up with. who on trailtalk can you call a true friend?

Chin - maybe I should build a case before I'm told he doesn't make the cut.

You can go into Ginsberg and the Beat poets and Dylan, but Gil Scott-Heron is the manifestation of the modern word,” Chuck D, the leader of Public Enemy, told The New Yorker in 2010. [from the New York Times' Obituary]
