Partial Knee Resurfacing
that's what they call it instead of replacement. they did the inside compartment of my right knee where the bone was rubbing together. i'm on a walker for at least two weeks and am hobbling up and down the stairs only once a day. had surgery on thursday and came home on friday. pain pills help but the side effects of constipation are not fun. that has been taken care of. i also have backed off some of the pain meds because it is feeling better. i'm already tired of sitting around and watching tv. may try reading a book tomorrow, if my head clears. i really am counting on this doing the trick so i can get back to hiking.

Is the "partial resurfacing" some kind of meniscus replacement?

I want a new "gasket" where my right medial meniscus is partially missing.

this isn't for the meniscus more like a mini knee replacement. i've had the torn meniscus and the cartlidge is very thin. i also have ostio-artritis in my knees. the wearing on my knee was only on one side, i guess i'm a little knock-knee. so they insert a plastic type disc to raise up that side and then insert the metal thing to the top of the bone that is the rocker. this will even up my knee and hopefully help the other side out by taking some of the pressure off the left knee.
i was so tired of the pain and the limping and not being able to walk a mile without pain. i do hope i made the right decision.
the pain meds do make me a bit loopie to say the least.(can you tell) i didn't think it would hurt this much, but every two days i seem to see an improvement. the lidocane patches seem to help also. i'm bored!! tv sucks!! guess i will raid bretts dvd collection.

that hubby is a classy guy. maybe he'll toss in the dog's blanket so you'll be comfy too, :).

Seriously, keep on healing and take advantage of other people waiting on you hand and foot while you can get it.

WOW, that looks like just the thing for me!

The right medial meniscus could be replaced by that gizmo and maybe relieve the pain.

Maybe then I could get back to break dancing!

not to many doctors do this type of surgery. these guys do people from all over the place. they said that bing younger and having more nerve endings in my knee i would probably have more pain with my recovery.
