I'm sad to inform you that the owner of Enertia Trailfoods, John, passed away last year. I found out at Traildays from the Antigravitygear booth. They always setup with the Enertia people and they weren't there this year, when I asked about it they let me know that John passed away last August. I emailed his wife yesterday expressing my condolences as I've ran into John several times over the years here in Columbus when he was visiting local outfitters selling his food (They're out of Dayton). I know many of you hiked with him at Titanium Chef III and with his wife at TC4, and some on other trips. The loss of a backpacker is never taken lightly, especially when it is one of our own. Rest in peace John, many of us will go on enjoying your food for years to come.

treebait - the company seems to be going strong with a strong web presence and shelves stocked at EMS and other gear shops.

Bummer, I liked the guy. He always seemed to remember the TC3 crowd when we would see him at Trail Days.

His wife is running the company and hopes to be at TrailDays next year. They kept the death pretty quiet

Oh no. I'm sorry to hear that. I had talked to him several times actually.

This is John as I recall?

Yes, that's John. I'm not sure exactly how he died, I didn't ask. But his wife mentioned that his father died of heart disease and that it ran in the family so I'm assuming that. He was a great guy.

Oh!! I met him at TC3 I think. Last year he came up to me and still remembered me. He was a great guy. I am so sorry.
