well, americangreetings.com says that today is "eat garlic day". i suppose that is different than just "garlic day". but can we really trust a greeting card company for this kind of information? are they really reliable? i mean, they have a vested interest in the whole thing. i say its a scam and a conspiracy by the whole industry

SCREW YOU, GARLIC!

I bought some garlic today. I hardly ever buy it, and I don't know what prompted me to do so today. Now I know it's because it's garlic day.

I would love to but I'm really not that mean spirited...HOWEVER...I'm thinking I may sprinkle paperclips around the office so she finds them continually...that drives her nuts to find them in the floor!

Hey, so I've heard that swallowing a clove of garlic in the morning acts as a pretty good mosquito repellent.

Now, I understand that it certainly works to keep the people away, but I was wondering if anybody had tried it and what results you may have had.

If nobody has, I plan to field test it on my Sierra trip this summer. I'll bring plenty of deet as well - for two reasons. One, I don't trust garlic against that horde of vampires that hits you in those mountain valleys. And two, because, seriously, screw those goddam mosquitoes.

There's an old thread about this subject lurking around here somewhere. HPM grew up on sulfurous well water and he never had any mosquito bites during that time.

I'll give it a try and report back. I'm sure my fellow hikers will love me on this trip.

I almost named a cat Garlic one time. I got cold feet at the last minute and went with Fred instead.

That's funny, because I have a cat who keeps sleeping on the pile of garlic I harvested from the garden. Funny past is she's named after chef Nigella Lawson.
