What's the morning temps in your part of the woodsView Messages“The summer heat is going strong of the Gulf Coast. 90s everyday, lows in the high 70s. I need some relief from the heat. Where is it nice and cool in the mornings?” 12:16:58 PM 6/21/06 “I was about 60 here this morning, 73 at noon. And as an added bonus there'r plenty of big mountains just down the road. last edited: 6/21/06 12:19:30 PM” 12:18:40 PM 6/21/06 “It's not much better here in North Alabama. It was over 90 yesterday and the humidity has kicked in today to make things absolutely miserable!!” 12:21:33 PM 6/21/06 “Antarctica is kinda nippy this time of year” 12:22:03 PM 6/21/06 “I'm wondering just how far North I'll have to drive to find some coolness. I've done the Smokies ridgeline too many times.” 12:26:46 PM 6/21/06 “low 70's in the am. Mid 90's in the pm this week.” 12:28:50 PM 6/21/06 “You could head up my way SS. Although you might want to wait a couple weeks, I think we are moving into our one week of summer. ;-) Temp was about 60 this morning with a high of 78 predicted.” 12:31:51 PM 6/21/06 “It was 63 here this morning. There's an upper level high over us right now, so very little chance for rain. There's also a very nice onshore flow, so those of us near the coast have it cooler than those in town. Neener neener.” 12:41:01 PM 6/21/06 “Treebait can be just so evil sometimes. ;-) last edited: 6/21/06 12:46:07 PM” 12:45:28 PM 6/21/06 “Hey, it's also cooler here during the day than it is up in Charlotte. Go figure.” 12:46:50 PM 6/21/06 “90's for highs, 60's for lows but I think the lows will be getting higher :(” 1:23:42 PM 6/21/06 “Move to Maine, I'm sure Twigeater would welcome you.................NOT!!! ”2:02:34 PM 6/21/06 “Morning temps in my neck of the woods work for agencies that place them in temporary jobs working mostly in the morning.” 2:13:12 PM 6/21/06 Hey GEO !!!!!! “ ”2:20:07 PM 6/21/06 “MarkO is such a silly clown. I may just take a week off and go visit Roam Mt, maybe camp with Nowslimmer a couple of days. just chill out in the Mts somewhere.” 2:24:22 PM 6/21/06 “HOT!!” 2:29:25 PM 6/21/06 “There's no relief up here in Chi-Town. It's humid and 90 something.” 2:54:54 PM 6/21/06 “It was 70 this morning in Charlotte. Some of my coworkers complained that walking outside was like getting hit with a hot wet blanket. I laughed so hard it was almost rude.” 3:06:39 PM 6/21/06 “Hot and sticky” 3:09:21 PM 6/21/06 “What's that quote from Good Morning Vietnam? What's the weather like? It's hot and wet, that's pretty good when you're with a woman but it ain't no fun when you're in the jungle. Or something like that.” 3:14:25 PM 6/21/06 NW Wisconsin “High 50's and low 60's at night and in the morning. 70's during the peak of the day. Pretty good, but then there is WINTER.” 3:22:00 PM 6/21/06 “Oh, it's time to cruise in my kayak. Did the bike ride this morning. Sort of training for a triathalon is such a grueling thing.” 3:23:35 PM 6/21/06 Northern CA “Great weekend for outdoorsy stuff coming up! Originally it was only going to be 103 on Friday, they just corrected that, forecast now is for 106. Think I'll go have a cold beer!” 4:18:15 PM 6/21/06 “Anyone watch The Red Green Show?” 4:19:50 PM 6/21/06 “Here in New Hampster, it was 56 degrees around 7 AM today. I opened all the windows and used the fan to blow in some cool air from the screen porch. It got up to around 78 outside today. I just checked and the inside temp was 69 degrees and the outside temp was 73 degrees. It's almost time to open up all the windows again. I love living in New Hampshire!” 4:24:24 PM 6/21/06 “It was hot today, even for me who likes the heat. The humidity had to of been tottaly like 1,000%” 4:37:24 PM 6/21/06 “The Catskill Mtns had some 90 & high 80 degree days this week. Of course it ALWAYS gets cooler with Elevation.” 4:46:14 PM 6/21/06 “Hey Stovie don't you love it when people away from the gulf speak of humidity! All of that has to pass over us before yall even get a taste. Now a little Mountain Steve and XL language. I spent the past two days in a rescue harness and helment doing confined space rescue. The last scenario was at 3 PM today, 97 degrees in the shade and around 120 inside the confined space, which was a Black painted steel tank. Inside the vessel with me was another rescuer, the live victim, a backboard, and sked. We assumed a contaminated atmosphere so we were wearing SCBA(Self Contained Breathing Aparatus). The only thing that could have made it hotter would have to gone in wearing full bunker gear. It took us 28 minutes to get the victim and rescue team out of the hole. Within the golden hour but we were exausted when we got out of that hole. After pulling the sweaty grimy gear off, the 97 degree air temp outside the hole felt like airconditioning. I'm not a professional firefighter or rescue technician, I am just a volunteer on my chemcial plants Emergency Brigade. Did I have fun the last two days? Hell yes I got paid two days to play First Responder and recieved more valuable training from our best. The LSU Fire and Emergency Training Center. My firemans hat however goes off to those guys that have to do the real thing everyday. If you see a bunch of firemen or other first responders on the job and want to help them out. Get a big cooler of bottled water, gatoraid, etc. and and get it to them quicky they may not have time to get it themselves.” 5:15:24 PM 6/21/06 “Ahhh.... a very pleasant 53 here in Vancouver this morning. Nothing but sun coming for the weekend and temps to the mid 80s Woo Hoo !! Bring it on !” 8:00:19 AM 6/22/06 “I'm heading to the Smokies next week, cool or not, and just gonna relax. When I closed up the house this morning it was 72° inside and about the same outside.” 9:10:00 AM 6/22/06 “Hmm, partly cloudy in Baltimore. Its been stinkin' hot lately. Maybe D.C. will share some of that rain.” 9:13:06 AM 6/22/06 “The east is the beast in summer.” 9:13:56 AM 6/22/06 “I’m getting all hot and sweaty just reading this thread.” 9:25:52 AM 6/22/06 “68*F 33%hum.” 9:35:32 AM 6/22/06 National heat index map “Right now the heat index in Stovie's and my World is 88 degrees. One place is hotter Brownsville, TX at 90. I'm going someplace a little cooler next week. I'm getting on a ship in Galveston and heading to Jamaica and Grand Cayman for a week. Highs in the 80's on Grand Cayman and low 90's on Jamaica. I'm going to zipline 250 feet above the ground and trees in Jamaica at 35 miles per hour. That should dry the sweat off ya! Here is the heat index map. http://weather.aol.com/maps.adp?type=national&id=ahi&x=31&y=8 last edited: 6/22/06 9:53:31 AM” 9:52:58 AM 6/22/06 “What part of Jamaica are you docking in? I LOVVVVVED Jamaica.” 9:56:05 AM 6/22/06 Cooler in Jamaica! “Dayhiker we are docking in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Me, Mrs. Bateauxdriver and the boys are going. Even putting the boys in their own cabin. I'm going to tip the cabin steward extra at the start of the cruise to keep them in irons! Here is our ship itinerary. This is gonna be cool! http://www.carnival.com/Itinerary.aspx?embkCode=GAL&itinCode=WCG&shipCode=CQ&durDays=7&subRegionCode=CW” 10:14:37 AM 6/22/06 “MBJ: You mentioned the zip line. Be sure you buy Appleton rum to bring back. It's about $35 per bottle in the states and about $12 there. Also, Blue Mtn coffee is about $40/# here and maybe $10/# there. Grand Cayman: I don't dive but hear it's great there. Cozumel: We did the snorkel shore excursion trip and loved it. They take you out on a boat for maybe 30 minutes to the dive location. The water is just deep enough that it's difficult to touch bottom. They're doing that to protect the coral. It's beautiful. As soon as the swim is over it's open bar for the rest of the trip. After that they take you to a private beach for maybe an hour. I enjoyed that part as well. THe little town isn't much but we did enjoy some authentic local food. Other groups with us went to Carlos and Charlies and probably had too much fun. I know one couple that did the horses and Maya ruins tour and enjoyed it and another did the dolphins and loved that as well. We went as part of a group of about 40 for a conf. Have a blast.” 10:24:34 AM 6/22/06 “Stovie, I would agree with the Roan Mountain area. We were up there last weekend and it was quite comfortable. Lows maybe in the 50's. That was actually he warmest night I have ever spent at Roan High. Take plenty of pics if you go, and if you see him, tell Nowslimmer hello from us TTer's” 10:31:30 AM 6/22/06 “Hey Dayhiker, I forgot to mention that Montego Bay also has the Bobsled Cafe on Gloucester Ave. They have the origional bobsled used by the first Jamaican Olympic Bobsled Team from 1988 in the cafe. It may seem strange but, I gotta check that out while I'm there!” 12:34:11 PM 6/22/06
