“Oh boy, say goodbye to your right to privacy...
“Hello, BIG BROTHER!!!!”
“That's just grand, they spend our money to spy on us!!
"If you haven't done anything wrong, you have nothing to worry about!!"
Didn't Joe Bob Stalin say that??”
“Half of you voted them in.”
Build it...add ALL the phone calls,
“and then record all the FOREIGN calls as well you morons, make me feel safer by the minute......
#&%!$e man, they can't record and listen to what they have, and red tape screws up acting on the little intel they do get.....so let 'em record...
Snow them under, overload the system....they can start with my calls....hello, Pizza Hut?.....”
“Ahah ... calls to a terrorist pizza cell ...”
“Oh my God! Next thing you know someone will find a way to track all our web activity!!!!”
“more power to 'em...maybe they can share their records w/ my phone company so they can get my bill right ;)”
“I highly doubt that these phone logs will be used in real time while a character from a Clancy novel listens by cell phone as he races to the calls location to catch the bad guy.
Some of you peeps have seen to many James Bond movies. Hollywood always shows the great rescue coming within seconds of complete failure with big tough macho guys smashing their way through bad guys to collect the clues. In real life what happens is some low level smuck is captured and every thing he has done or planned to do is studied in minute detail. Then the peeps he talked to are scrutinized and so on and so on.
The phone logs let us know what they were doing and who they were talking to. They will lead to other conspiriters who will lead to others.”
“Monitoring its own citizens phone calls - to make sure FREEDOM is protected.”
“they aren't stopping you from making phone calls”
“Meanwhile, the Justice Department has abruptly ended an inquiry into the warrantless eavesdropping program because the NSA refused to grant its lawyers the necessary security clearance. - from cnn.com”
“Give up your FREEDOM ,so you can have my kind of FREEDOM.”
“hahahah, and you want the Justice department reading transcripts from your phone calls? They are all about enforcing the law. The NSA couldn't give a #&%!$ if you are embezzling from your employer or stealing cable as long as you aren't a threat to national security.”
“That sounds like it is going to cost a lot of money. I hope the NSA is going to outsource this task to keep the cost down. ;-)”
“Yes Hyway - it's fine for the Govenment to spy on you. As long as you don't do anything to upset them you have nothing to fear.”
“I'm sure the people of the Soviet Union, of Cuba, or Saddam's Iraq, of Iran and North Korea had nothing to fear unless they did something the government didn't like them doing.”
“Y'all are aware, I presume, that NSA is the same agency that has been monitoring phone calls without a court order at the direction of Bumbleya and Deadeye Dick?”
“You peeps are such idealist. Do you really think you have any privacy? Do you think your tax forms aren't being viewed by people who have no right to see them? Do you think your medical records are kept so secure that only authorised personnel view them? Do you think people aren't reading your mail at the post office? Do you think your email is secure?
You have no privacy anymore whether its the government, the media, hackers, criminal elements, or just bored workers at the phone company. If someone wants to know what you are up to, it will be discovered.”
“The slippery slope again. This week give us your small guns ,next week we'll be back. Let's give citizenship to just a couple million, an THEN we'll fix the border. They're doing the latter in congress right now.”
“"The phone logs let US know what they were doing and who they were talking to. They will lead to other conspiriters who will lead to others."
HyWay works for NSA......busted!!!
Uh oh, now I'm on the #&%!$ list!!
"That sounds like it is going to cost a lot of money. I hope the NSA is going to outsource this task to keep the cost down. ;-)"
"Y'all are aware, I presume, that NSA is the same agency that has been monitoring phone calls without a court order at the direction of Bumbleya and Deadeye Dick?"
Sure thing Geo, now they want to cast a wider net and catch............somebody.....anybody, to show some results for their "diligence".
“If we suck so bad, why do those couple million (and the millions more) want to be citizens anyway?”
“You have no privacy anymore whether its the government, the media, hackers, criminal elements, or just bored workers at the phone company. If someone wants to know what you are up to, it will be discovered - and shouldn't we be doing something about this rather than just shrugging ans saying 'that's the way it is'?”
“I don't suck!!”
“The genie is out of the bottle, we can no more stuff it back in than we can erase the knowledge of nuclear weapons. If my personal life is already available to anyone who wants to dig for it or pay someone else to do it for whatever ill-gotten gains they desire, might as well let it be availible to help protect us from people who would love to erase all our technology for us.”
“These phone logs tell you what phone number called what other phone number when for how long.... not who was talking on the phone or what they said. The records already exist at the phone company and I suspect the government can pretty much get to them any time they want.
Isn't there a database that ANYONE can pay to gain access to that has this sort of information on the web? I read something about that a while ago on a web site.”
“and shouldn't we be doing something about this rather than just shrugging ans saying 'that's the way it is'?
why?...i don't have anything to hide...i don't have a problem with it...there's no such thing as "true privacy"...even in the good old days of writing letters, what stopped someone from just opening them up and reading them...my philosophy is if you don't phuck around you have nothing to worry about”
“Why does the prez speak on this now? To cover what our congress is doing across town.
All of you that just bend over for this bunch of nazis and want everyone to stop any criticism, must be either;talking to the same god or are just stupid.”
“Oh my God! Next thing you know someone will find a way to track all our web activity!!!!
Oh my God! It just occured to me: maybe the phone company has a record of our calls too!!!
They might even put it in print and mail out copies every month! Holy crap!

“OMG! The state library knows what books I checked out!!!”
“that's weird, now that you mention it, i got a credit card bill the other day and it said every place that i used it for a whole month!!!”
“As long as the government doesn't have your social security number, we're ok. You can find anything about a person with their social security number.”
“Oh no......the bank also knows where all my payments go---and how much, too.....I'm doomed.....”
“Somebody hold me!!”
“A government spying on it's people is perfectly fine in a free and democratic nation.”
“I'm sure these people won't mind their calls being monitored, listened into. I mean, the government controls the people right, not the other way round.
And private companies have way too much power to store data on you as it is.”
“Is my gun registration also my government spying on me?”
“In a way yes, now what if they were monitoring your activities with your gun without tell you - or putting the matter before congress?”
“See the big difference is laws enacted openly with public scrutiny - with people given a chance to vote in and out the electors who sanction the laws - and this being done secretly without public knowledge.”
“When you learn that your ,'war on terror' is actually a ,'war on peace' and the peace dividend that came about after the fall of the USSR, benefitted more than the rich. That of all things had to be changed and 9/11 ushered in the 'WAR ON PEACE".It joins the long list of 'WARS'; drugs, aids, organic food, small cars, imigration ,porn ,......finish your own dahmn list.”
“NonC - I'd say a better comparison would be the difference between the government knowing you own a car, and knowing everywhere you go in it.

“Is it just me, or does anyone else always have a hard time figuring out what salebored is talking about?”
“He should change his name to sadnwichbored and walk around with one on that says "All your base are belong to us!".
Frickin' nut jobs man...”
“READ the PNAC.”
“So isn't that what this list is Y2? A record of what number called what number rather than the content of the call? That's the way I read it.”
“as much as i love orwell, am all about personal freedom, hate/distrust cops and guberment, ect, ect...
i just can't get too excited about this stuff.
if someone wants to know i check out porn, if they wanna know i have phone sex, or who i voted for on american idol*- well it may be a little embarrassing, but phuck it, if there's a chance it'll prevent another 911 then they can have at it.
*merely hypotheticals of course.”
“the government asks for way too much personal information about where and when and how I spend my money come tax time
why aren't the libs complaining about that?”
“Taxes GOOOD. Rich people BAAAAAAD.”
“I am more upset about my belief that American Idle is rigged and that millions of fools think there votes really count. (not really, I mean about being concwerned about it not whether or not its rigged. Which I am sure it is.)”
