So now that i'm expecting, is it going to affect my backpacking capabilities for a while? I am planning on the april UP trip but I havent talked to my doc about this yet. I would think it would still be ok?

You sould carry the pack on the front so you get accustom to the forward weight. it also teaches you to walk without seeing your feet(unless you can't see your feet now).

Congratulations Nicole!! I'm excited for you guys!

I was told that I couldn't carry more than 25# while pregnant. Otherwise I just had to be careful not to fall down and not to do anymore than I did when I wasn't pregnant.

My advice to you is to talk to your doctor and to stay as active as you can. I sat on my duff for the second half of my pregnancy and ate everything in site. It wasn't a good thing come delivery time and after Abby was born. Took almost three years to reverse what I did in five months.

Enjoy your pregnancy, don't let it limit you if you can help it. Congrats again, you'll be a fun Mom. =D

When my wife was pregnant she was told she could do anything during the pregnancy that she did before. You mainly just need to avoid altitudes above 7000 feet. Why that number? I am not really sure, but we found it in several sources. The worst part is going to be sleeping. You will not be too comfortable sleeping anywhere, especially on the ground, when your belly starts getting big.

Let me see if I have this right.Your not really pregnant and you started this thread to make the first one seem more believable. Pretty sneaky sis.

Congrats SC!

I am sure the doctor will give you the green-light for April. Just keep taking your horse-pill prenatal vitamins and drink plenty of water.

I am so very excited for you, sincerely. My children are _the_ most important part of my life. The experience for me has been very rewarding. I badly miss my kids when they were wee ones...

I can't wait to meet your son or daughter!

Yeah, I have been camping with the Boy Scouts this weekend. I am sure I missed a lot of things.

Oh, I see.

Well at least I'll find some comfort in the fact that I didn't read the entire thread before offering my honest heartfelt well wishes. I just went with with I felt when I read the last few posts. Got me!

YOU'RE PREGNANT???!!! congrats...that's so cool...it's gonna be a fun and interesting 9 months...a little more than 2 months for us to go

i think it's been said already but ask your doctor these kind of questions...your doctor should be used to pregnant women asking tons of questions...my wife calls hers almost on a weekly basis

Saw it coming a mile away!

This reminds me, the other night I had a dream that I was pregnant and Nigal (yes Nigal) was in charge of throwing me a baby shower...but he was planning to have the party on my due date. At first I was mad, but then I thought maybe a party would take my mind off all the pain and agony of giving birth. LOL!! I need my head examined.
