Trails “Anyone know a trail in Maine, that is a boreal forest, and is greater than 30 miles” 8:11:59 AM 3/19/06 “The further North you get the more boreal the forest gets. I'm not very expert in forest ecology, but what I understand is most of Northern Maine is considered Acadian forest - which is a sort of transitional blend of boreal and broadleaf forest. The further North you get basically the more boreal the feal. Consider hiking in Baxter State Park (regulated and reservations usually required) which has 100s of miles of trail, the Northern AT leading into Baxter State Park, or the IAT (International Appalachian Trail which leads from Baxter State Park to Gaspe).” 12:44:32 PM 3/19/06 “Hopefully someone who knows their forests better than I do - and Northern Maine better can give you more of a clue... but why not consider Quebec and Ontario also?” 12:45:59 PM 3/19/06 “Blackfly season in Maine and New Hampshire is full on. I decided the topic deserved its own thread (sorry for doubling up). last edited: 6/09/11 8:28:21 AM” 8:26:09 AM 6/09/11
