So I come home and there is a Severe Winter warning on my computer for Friday that could dump at least 8 inches of snow.... WACKY!” 4:05:04 PM 1/19/06 “It's strange here too. It was rather spring like (for here) the first half of January and then we got 4-5 inches of snow 2 days ago. There's about 3 more inches on the ground right now and still snowin'.” 4:08:30 PM 1/19/06 “It's been whacky here too. Saturday it rained almost all day with temps in the 50's. Sunday it was below zero. Monday it was it was in the 20's. Tuesday it started off at zero and went up to the 50's. Wed. it rained, sleated, and snowed all day, and today temps stayed in the 30's. WHO BROKE THE WEATHER!” 4:14:11 PM 1/19/06 “haven't you lived in indiana enough to know that yet SC? ;) we can be sunny and 60 one day and 20 w/ 5 inches of snow the next...i like being able to injoy the snow one day but know that it will be gone within a few days” 4:29:51 PM 1/19/06 “TH, :P who cares what the weather does, Ijsut made areally tasty batch of homemade wild blueberry muffins...mmmmmmm!” 4:53:46 PM 1/19/06 “The headline of the mid-state newspaper this morning was Wacky Weather.” 4:54:56 PM 1/19/06 “The sky just got very dark and the wind is really blowing. I guess that huge cold front from Canada has arrived.” 9:26:22 AM 2/17/06 “yesterday a high of 70, low of 52 today a high of 39, low of 32 with a chance of snow (yeah right)” 9:29:11 AM 2/17/06 “Sunny and 70 here in GA. Gonna be rainy and crappy tomorrow....” 9:29:21 AM 2/17/06 “Very mild here again this morning with the front having already passed only dropping a few drops of rain but with decreasing temps predicted for the next 3 days.” 9:30:37 AM 2/17/06 “...HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT EST TONIGHT... A HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR EAST CENTRAL NEW YORK AND ADJACENT WESTERN NEW ENGLAND UNTIL MIDNIGHT EST TONIGHT. A STRONG ARCTIC COLD FRONT WILL CROSS THE REGION THIS MORNING. ALSO...A DEEPENING LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL BE MOVING NORTHEASTWARD THROUGH THE SAINT LAWRENCE VALLEY. WIDESPREAD DAMAGING WINDS ARE MOST LIKELY TO OCCUR ALONG AND BEHIND THE COLD FRONT LATER THIS MORNING AND DURING THE AFTERNOON. AS THE COLD FRONT MOVES THROUGH...WINDS WILL SHIFT TO THE WEST AND INCREASE TO 25 TO 40 MPH WITH GUSTS OF 60 TO 70 MPH. WINDS WILL BEGIN TO DIMINISH THIS EVENING...BUT THE POTENTIAL FOR DAMAGING WINDS WILL EXIST UNTIL MIDNIGHT. THE STRONG WINDS WILL LIKELY PRODUCE WIDESPREAD TREE DAMAGE AND POWER OUTAGES. WITH FRIGID ARCTIC AIR MOVING INTO THE REGION LATE TODAY AND REMAINING THROUGH THE WEEKEND...MAKE SURE ANY PORTABLE GENERATORS OR BACKUP HEATING SYSTEMS ARE READY FOR USE IN CASE ELECTRICAL POWER IS LOST FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME. A HIGH WIND WARNING MEANS A HAZARDOUS HIGH WIND EVENT IS EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. SUSTAINED WIND SPEEDS OF AT LEAST 40 MPH OR GUSTS OF 58 MPH OR MORE WILL LEAD TO PROPERTY DAMAGE. I'm glad I heat with a wood stove. The high for today is 45*F tomorrow it's supposed to get down to 0*F.” 9:31:26 AM 2/17/06 “It looks like a monsoon outside now.” 9:33:01 AM 2/17/06 “got up to 62 here in central p.a. yesterday, a low of 19 is expected tonight!” 10:04:25 AM 2/17/06 -12 “and a good north wind. About par for February.” 10:10:36 AM 2/17/06 “well our non-winter weather is gone. We had a bunch of snow yesterday, although it's really blowing, so it doesn't look like that much. Early this AM it was crazy!! There was a "sun dog" on each side. And, maybe because the sun was so low, there were huge columns!! Never seen that before, very cool!! And now, the bad news: Today: Partly cloudy and cold, with a high around 0. Wind chill values between -20 and -25. Blustery, with a northwest wind between 18 and 20 mph. Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around -18. Wind chill values between -26 and -35. West wind between 8 and 17 mph. Saturday: Mostly sunny and cold, with a high near 3. Wind chill values between -28 and -38. West wind between 9 and 13 mph. Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low near -7. Wind chill values between -14 and -21. West wind around 8 mph.” 10:15:54 AM 2/17/06 “Two dead after trees fall on vehicles, thousands lose power February 17,2006 (Saratoga Springs, NY - AP) - Two people have died in upstate New York today after trees fell on their vehicles during high winds gusting to more than 60 miles an hour. State transportation department officials say a DOT worker was killed when a tree fell on his truck on a road at Saratoga Spa State Park. In the Rochester suburb of Irondequoit, a woman was killed when a large tree toppled onto her car this morning. The high winds began tearing across upstate New York early this morning, sending temperatures plunging from a high of 60 degrees in western New York in just a few hours. More than 100,000 utility customers from the Buffalo area to northern New York were without power at one point. Schools were closed in an eight-county area stretching from Buffalo and its suburbs to the Rochester area and the western Finger Lakes region. Copyright 2006 by The Associated Press. All we get is a mist that just makes dust stick to everything.” 9:29:36 AM 4/05/06 “We had a pretty good dusting of snow this morning. No lightning though. It nearly covered the grass in about an hour. It all melted already.” 11:17:04 AM 4/05/06 “A large, bright, warm, orange thing appeared in the sky for a few minutes a couple days ago....anyone know what it was? People ran outside with their arms stretched toward the ski. It was a very moving experience. It all seems like a dream now.” 11:59:28 AM 4/05/06 “Sounds scary mtnsteve, keep me posted when you find out what it was.” 12:02:31 PM 4/05/06 “that orange thing has been hovering our place for DAYs!” 12:06:50 PM 4/05/06 “I guess it didn't like us. Perhaps we should sacrifice something to it..... Yea, that's what we'll do!” 12:10:05 PM 4/05/06 We were given a sign... “The Orange Orb appeared for a brief moment on my way home, surrounded by blue stuff. In a show of power, it still rained while this miraculous event took place. It was over in seconds, but it should be obvious...IT WANTS A SACRIFICE! If it demands a virgin, we are doomed.” 7:14:03 PM 4/05/06 “I'm supposed to go snowshoeing this weekend, and to think just a little while ago I was worried we wouldn't have enough snow! During this morning's weather 4cast they were saying 2,000 ft was snow level... sheesh, we'll be hiking on top of a 6-8 feet base!” 7:29:48 PM 4/05/06 “THE ORANGE ORB IS BACK!!! It's a miracle! We are saved! After 18 days and nights we are given the gift of light. ![]() last edited: 4/13/06 9:23:40 AM” 9:19:25 AM 4/13/06 “Boy could we use some rain here. Saturday is opening day of trout season and the woods are like a tinderbox. last edited: 4/13/06 9:38:25 AM” 9:35:19 AM 4/13/06 “I know what you mean, Conk. The weather forecasters here think it will be a very dry summer, and we may have a repeat of the '98 firestorms, when the ash from fires to the west of us fell at the beaches like snow. It was very creepy, and hard to breathe for normal people, let alone those with asthma. It was a few years before I could enjoy the smell of a campfire after that. Parts of Pennsylvania look like they're way behind on rain levels too. Most of the southeast is as well. It'll be a hard year for farmers again.” 10:43:33 AM 4/13/06 “Wohoo! It's 80 degrees!!!” 11:33:27 AM 4/13/06 “78 and sunny here after some MAJOR rainstorms this week. fighting... urge ... to .. quit.. job...” 11:36:20 AM 4/13/06 “Mighty hot and dry here in the foothills.” 4:40:23 PM 4/13/06 “ ![]() hmmmm ya think we might get rain tonight?” 10:06:29 PM 5/24/06 “the weather channel sucks!” 5:50:44 AM 5/25/06 “Oh, come one, Maple, Jim Cantore is hot!!!
