There is a whole industry setup around getting into google. There are tons of theories now. The one that is most annoying is the theory of a "sandbox". Basically google will not index sites until that have aged an unknown amount and have proven that they can play well with the other kids in the sandbox. Google has no official response to this, but it seems to be true. They basically did this to prevent people from spamming their index. So basically you have to fire and forget when it comes to google.

I went through a service where ya pay like $5 and they register your site with like 300 some search sites? Ineedhits.com or something maybe?

ya, i seem to remember doing one of those "submit my site to search engines" things a while back.

i show up on msn and yahoo but i guess from what MTWM is saying i just have to wait and hope that one day google will grace my site with acknowledgment (?)

maybe i should send them a bottle of wine or something?

heehee...for one...your meta tags suck!!
it's not good enough to add your keywords, they also need to be on your page, added somehow in the text. Needs to be readable, so no white text on white background like a lot of them do. [i wouldn't take the risk of not getting indexed because of it]

hmm... what else?
Try this and see what it does:
http://vancouver-webpages.com/VWbot/mk-metas.html

haven't personally tried it but it's a good start.

this is a pretty good page:
http://www.thesitewizard.com/archive/google.shtml

i am sending you links because they can explain it much better then my scewed up english. :D

Heeheehee...my gw site is on the first page of google.com. Gabriele.com is on the 4th page if you search for hiking, backpacking trip reports. pretty awesome!

I got that from the above link, and yupp, that's pretty much what I did too:

What is Keyword Density?

One of the simplest ways to improve your site's placement in the search engine results is to work on the keyword density on your page, which was what I did.

For my purpose here, I will refer to a "keyword" as a word that the user searches for when using the search engine. Generally speaking, keyword density is the ratio of the word that is being searched for (the keyword) against the total number of words appearing on your web page. If your keyword occurs only (say) once in a page of one thousand words, it has a lower keyword density than a keyword that occurs (say) four times in a page of similar length.

If a particular keyword has a higher density on your web page, then the likelihood of your page obtaining a better search engine ranking increases. Note that not all search engines bother with keyword density and indeed even those that do have their own algorithm for computing the density of a keyword. However, the principles described in this article is general enough to help your page improve its ranking in the engines that take keyword density into account.
How to Improve Your Search Engine Ranking

How do you improve your keyword density?

1. When planning a page, think about which search terms a user is likely to use when searching for the information your site provides. For example, a visitor who is looking for information on "Search Engine Ranking" may search for things like "search engine positioning", "search engine ranking", "search engine placement", "keyword density", "top ranking", and the like.

2. After you have collected your list of keywords, do NOT simply dump those keywords into a senseless list on your web page. I've seen some websites do this in an attempt to influence search engine listings. This may not work with all search engines. Some of the engines attempt to be smart when processing keywords and if it sees keywords occurring together in a senseless sequence, it may penalise your website.

3. Instead, try to form sentences that use those keywords. If you are a good writer, you may have to kill some of those good habits you previously used in writing documents: for example, many good writers have an aversion to repeating a particular word too often, choosing instead to use alternative terms that mean the same thing. This makes for a more pleasant reading, but it will not help you get your site listed with a top rank in search engine results for that particular keyword.

For instance, if you want your page to have a high ranking when someone searches for the phrase "search engine ranking", keep repeating the phrase "search engine ranking" in your document instead of substituting with pronouns like "it" and the like. Do likewise for the other keywords that you want a high density on the page. You'll of course have to use your discretion with this, or your page will be unpleasant to read.

You can see an example of how this is done by examining this article itself, and see how often I have repeated keywords and phrases like "keyword", "keyword density", "search engine ranking" and "search engine positioning".

4. In days of old, some people tried the trick of having a very short page for a particular keyword. For example, the page may only have the following one sentence: "Keyword density is important in search engine ranking." Since there were so few words on the page, the page was actually easy to draft and the keywords "keyword density" and "search engine ranking" have a very high density on that page.

This method is not very useful nowadays. For example, at the time I wrote this, it no longer appears to work with Alta Vista, which seems to rank pages that are bigger than 4K more favourably.

Paying someone to submit you to "1000 search engines" is a waste of cash.

First off those "1000 search engines" all pull data from the same few sources.

Gimme a minute and I'll find you a search engine map.

cus your keywords still suck...i mean who in the hell is gonna search for "nybulldogs"

really... you need to change your metatags, your description, your title, the owner, the date, etc...

I have all this in my metatags...and like I said they are ranked on the number one page.

why do you put winnie, chrissy, murphy...etc.. in your keywords? so people who know you can find you??

I do know that some search engines don't index you because you have keywords that are irrelvant...maybe...that's it...

I am not a meta tag expert...

PS: I tried to post your meta-tags but metatags won't show up on a post

the point is. YOU HAVE TO WORK ON YOUR KEYWORDS...it'll take you a day or so...
then you have to cross your fingers that google lists you. they will...sooner or later.

you are on their first page if you search for
Aldebaran Bulldogs

Ok found it.
http://www.bruceclay.com/searchenginerelationshipchart.htm

Those are the biggest engines by search volume and as you can see they exchange information. Meaning if you work for placement on those then your efforts will filter out to those "1000 search engines."

Say just who the hell are these other "1000 engines" anyway? Got a list? Ever use them? Does ANYONE use them? Do you really want to be indexed high on an Chinese language search engine anyway?

Bruce Clay is a well known SEO outfit and pretty well respected. Look around the Bruce Clay site. Lots of good info there.

Oh yeah, if you click on the search engines in the chart it takes you to an info page about each one that includes a link to the subit a URL page of each site so you can submit yourself for free.

It's Catch 22 thing.
In order to be ranked highly on google, you have to have a large number of hits.
My site comes up fairly close to the top for some pages and not for others.

Not quite SS.
Hit volume helps but its not the be all end all to getting ranked.

Backlinks on qualified sites is very important. If you check you will find that lots of people link to your site.

Face it, you're a popular guy! lol!

Yeah, you are correct. I forgot about the linking.

here this is good:

http://www.widexl.com/remote/search-engines/metatag-analyzer.html

really...try it...it's free! :D it really tells you what I already told you but goes in a little bit more details...I like how they analyzed your title and their remark was "Title relevancy to page content is terrible." LOL no really...you'll need to work on your meta tags...and keep retesting it...

I used to have the url of a site that told you what people searched for....i can't find it anymore thoug...that would give you an idea.

free too:
http://www.theemiratesnetwork.com/computers/webmaster/metatag3.htm

never tried it...so you're on your own, but it's free yeahh!!!!

one way to improve your keywords is to use a :keyword generator: I used freeware and tried a couple with familiar terms. They came up with some great variations that I now use in "search engine optimized" letters that I write for others.

basics they help you find what words folks are looking for.

You must be doing something right today Your name is number one in my google search BUT it will not let me enter your site or open your page.

thanks guys!

gem, some of my keywords may not make much sense to ya (and i'm sure they do suck), but there is some reasoning behind them.

ex) my old site was cnybulldogs. i let it slip and never got to put a redirect on it.

ex) lots of the other words are stuff that comes into play from the dog show world. alot of those keywords are in the catalouges that you get at a dog show. so if someone was to see our dogs in the show ring and wanted to find more about us they may try searching with those keywords (it's happened a few times)

but i'll work on it.

thanks!

yupp...I have no clue about bulldogs.

hey...try to add your title...something like this:

Breeder and trainer: Exceptional Champion Aldebaran Bulldogs in CNY.

description:
Breeding and training of Exceptional Champion Aldebaran Bulldogs in Central New York.

doesn't matter if the description is almost the same...

good luck...i normally love doing this sort of stuff...and then check how it worked, how the site ranked in a couple of month or so.

Actually Gem, we work directly with the Google folks here and they say that Metatags are much less important than content but don't remove them because they still matter. Just not as much as they used to due to metatag spamming.
