I thought Inception was great. One of Hollywood's biggest problems is the dumbing down of everything. This was a good thinker.

Saw the movie "RED" this past weekend and gave it two thumbs up. Suspend a little disbelief and it's very entertaining. Great cast.

it had the potential to be good.

and they did have a very, very low budget. the cgi wasn't at the omg,i'mgonnapissmypants level, but it wasn't so bad that i wanted to walk out either.

i thought the storyline was crap. lots of loose ends and weirdness. and a different ending would have been a good thing.

Saw The Eagle this weekend. A pretty good war movie about a Roman soldier that goes to England to clear his father's name and find "The Golden Eagle", an important symbol of the Roman army that was lost when his father's entire unit was wiped out.

I thought True Grit was a pretty solid western. My least favorite part was the girl's acting, though it seems like everyone else I talk to thought she was amazing.

like Meryl Streep - she is supposedly one of the best actresses of the universe but I think she is one of the worst - I think sometimes people confuse "I see them acting" with "good acting". Good acting should be acting you don't notice.

Watching Catfish tonight, review to follow.

Thrifty, the previews of Eagle have parts of it look sci-fi like...whats up with that? Good costumes and fight scenes?

Historically accurate, or more of a sparta/apocalypto?

not in the least...not sure where that comes from

it's based on a fictional novel...i'll admit, i'm not that up on my roman history so can't really speak to the accuracy, but it's not really an action film...concentrates more on the story, which is a good one

Sunday me and the kids did our movie night with Caveman. I remember the movie being funny, but it's slap-stickie stupid really. But the funniest thing is watching with 8, 10, and 12 yr olds, THAT'S hilarious.

Last week's was A Man Called Horse.

2 wks ago it was Starship Troopers.

Oh, Return of a Man Called Horse got here today. Be a good movie night for this weekend.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes

I liked it. I thought it was a decent story and didn't even mind the computer apes. Would liked to have seen the story continue further but I guess that's what sequels are for. It should have been titled "The Start of the Rise of the Planet of the Apes."

Took my 10 year old to see "Contagion" last night.

We both really enjoyed it.

Not a good idea for a hypochondriac to see.

Several days ago we did movie night with THE MAN FROM EARTH. Pretty bad acting, zero action, a chattery-deep thinking type of movie. I'm glad I saw it, but I shore woulnd't recommend it to anyone.

Anyone ever seen it? The kids zoned out pretty quick, understandably so. What's really crazy about this movie tho is that it made 2 different lists of Top 25 Sci-Fi Movies of all time. Heh, no way!

Yesterday we did another movie night with HITCH-HIKERS GUIDE TO THE GALAXY. A little quacky, but we all enjoyed it pretty thoroughly, them Brits are some pretty funny ppl. We all agreed on 4 stars.

Tonight's movie night for the kiddies: Oh Brother, Where Art Thou.

kids loved it

Question: wife wants the kiddies to pick up a little religion. Truthfully we could be doing better, buuuuuut, the boss wants the kids to see Passion of the Christ for Easter. Uhh, do I recall that being torture porn?

I love 'Oh Brother, Where Art Thou.' My son quoted lines from it when he was about 11.

Passion is pretty intense. Tell her 'Napoleon Dynomite' is religious.
