Pics Nigal? Did it smell like almonds? Our medic told me that infections smell like almonds. For the life of me I cant recall the smell of an almond.

I am loving my job big time. I get paid to drive vehicles off road like they are stolen and I get to shoot for free.

No pics and I'd have to say that it smelled like almonds if almonds smell like rotting meat.

Driving it like ya stole it and shooting for free does carry a fairly high cool factor. Are the Hummers pretty good vehicles?

The HMMV I signed for was a nearly brand new "Up Armored" 1151. For a 15,000lb gun truck it ran great. Nice turbo, larger trans and brakes. No sports car but for what it is very nice.

I liked driving but prefer being a dismount. I shouldnt be in a HMMV for quite a while if all goes as planned.

With the Local Public housing bunch closing down "projects" like crazy one of the things my company dabbles in is building "Mixed" income apartments (LOL). This gets marketed to people and actually works pretty well (if management can keep riffraff out).

Well I get to start working on planning designs for a new place we are going to look at in the inner city of Augusta. LOL There is this little cesspool called Harrisburg and there are some real slum houses that will be demolished and replaced with new "mixed income".

The cool part is that since "pay to play" is now legal the "permits" will be slid by more or less without having to worry about the little people in Harrisburg being able to have much say so.....

Well this sorta stuff happened in Savannah years ago. The CITY (LOL) demanded it "STOP" and the HUD and other agencies made one of those "we do it or you lose Community Development Block Grant money" deals....I was amazed at how quickly the city came around (LOL).

Whats fun is the guy we are dealing with is an insider in Obama's "inner circle" and is making some KILLER deals.

I started working from home a couple weeks ago and my job satisfaction has gone through the roof.

Obviously, the perks of working barefoot in shorts with the windows open and a puppy sleeping at my feet are great. And there are the hawks I watch through my window all day. And the great music I have playing nonstop. And the fact that I can wheel my (new) chair three feet to my left and grab a guitar to kill a few minutes while I'm waiting for an e-mail or something... there's the fresh coffee in the pot, the leftovers or fresh food in the fridge, the natural light, etc etc etc

But what's most surprising is that my productivity has gone through the roof. I'm a few days ahead of every project deadline I've got.

Today I'm sitting in the backyard... laying actually, in a hammock, right now. Working on my laptop. And I'm getting twice as much done as if I were in the office. This is totally awesome

I am totally jealous. Windowless cubicleland sucks ballz!!! The entire world outside could evaporate and I would be none the wiser. It's particularly bad in the winter when it's dark when I arrive at and work and dark when I go home. If I don't make an effort to get some fresh air, days can go by without ever seeing the sun.

yeah Rosey, that was my last nine years... no windows, no sunlight. It got real depressing in the winter. When my company started offering/encouraging people to work at home, I didn't hesitate...

Our company has a homebound customer service agent program. I have someone reporting to me from Ringgold, Georgia.

Haven't met him and I am not too sure what he does, but he's on my payroll.

I suppose somebody manages this process.

I have lots of problems with winter blues. I've been riding my bike in the morning and still getting here by 7. I've been much more productive. I wonder if leaving the bike at work through the week in winter wouldn't be just the ticket. I usually go home for lunch, but a bike ride 2-3 days out of the week at lunch might be a healthier, more productive option. I'll have to time eating at home for when the youngest is at preschool in case afternoon delight, I mean lighting should strike :)

when I was in the office, I made a point to spend my lunch outside. Whether that meant reading on a bench outside of the building, or eating on the patio of some restaurant. That kind of helped. If the weather was awful, I'd just read in my car instead - which was close enough. Of course, here in SoCal, the weather never gets too awful

during last winter, I took an hour to go walking (we get a half-hour for exercise if we want). It helped a lot with the SAD.

yeah, that helps... is there anything "natural" near your work? That was one plus about my old office - there was a half-mile trail up into the hills I'd walk around on - see deer and buzzworms, quail and vultures, all that...

You could pick up running. Half an hour to 45 min is enough time to get in a good 4 or 5 miles, and you don't need to keep the bike around.

I love my job too, too bad I don't get to do it this week. Instead I'm teaching exercise physics to a group of highschool students all morning, then am stuck prepping for and teaching a 2 hour E&M lab in the afternoon. I finish up just in time to rush home to pick up my daughter and make dinner. I can't wait until the weekend.

LOL @ birch!

Do you find the cancer patients harder to do or easier? In a way some may be easier because you can see every single muscle from the weight loss but does that make it harder because they're all bones? A couple of my guys are like 90 lbs.
