I am an agnostic conservative who wants to legalize pot, wear the occasional tie dye, hang out with hippie types, separate church and state, but let a kid read a bible passage at their freaking graduation for Pete's sake, shoot criminals who run from the law, bomb people that screw with us back to the stone age (but after that build a few permanent bases, get some decent oil concessions, or get the freak out and let them throw rocks at each other).” 7:32:55 AM 4/24/07 “Well, there are major (and obvious) differences between guns and marijuana. The first being I don't think you can kill anyone with a joint. It's possible to start a house fire with one, I suppose, but they don't have glycerin added to keep them burning like cigarettes do. Guns, however, kill people every day of the week. There have been instances where people have been killed by alcohol poisoning, but usually it requires the addition of something like a Toyota. Same thing thing with pot, but it's not nearly as effective as Bud Light. Guns, however, are purpose-made and require only the addition of bullets (which are readily avaiable and also purpose-made)... and a pull on the trigger. I also think people should be able to do what they want with their own property, BUT they do not have the right to contribute to the extinction of another species just because it's on their land.... or pollute the air or water for others to consume, or otherwise create a hazard. Guns are inherantly hazardous. That's the reason they exist in the first place. The people developing firearms technology through history did not have target practice as a primary objective. Absolutism is not what I'm talking about; I'm no card-carying Libertarian. But I reiterate: what a person puts in their own body should not be anyone else's business. If someone is impaired by pot or anything else and is causing a hazard to others... clap 'em in irons! (but I don't think watching TV on the sofa qualifies)” 8:20:00 AM 4/24/07 “I think being told over and over and over again that I supposedly hate libbies is an attack of some kind, especially since I do not. Still not sure where this is coming from crash. you SAID it its not an attack to remind you of YOUR VERY OWN WORDS. theres just something annoying about someone who says "im a hippie" then everything else that you say is not in the least hippie-like. it strikes me as someone who is very image-conscious. like you wanna be one of the cool kids. but its just a running joke. im just giving you a hard time. i like you, pam. you seem like a very nice person. but im going to get my jabs in. just like some people know how to push my buttons (snarklite). we play rough on the fuego threads. if you can try to deal with it, ill try not to go too far.” 8:24:15 AM 4/24/07 “im going to re-post an earlier post, because i'd like to see pams response to it: I just don't think anyone's desire to get high should supercede everyone else's need to be safe. neither does anyone else. you are totally misrepresenting the pro-legalization's arguments when you make statements like that. the main point is, the war on drugs is causing more harm than good by creating a black market culture (and all the violence inherent in that culture), as well as wasting resources that could be put to better use against more serious infractions. those obnoxious ads say if you buy drugs, youre funding terrorists. well, remove the need for their black market and youre helping fight the terrorists. so, are you with us or against us?” 8:31:59 AM 4/24/07 “I'm with you, Crash. Smoke a joint for peace, freedom and the American way. Really, though, I agree.” 8:45:01 AM 4/24/07 “...but the argument that was offered was not that pot was safe (see below). Like I said, the same argument can be applied successfully to gun control laws. the war on drugs is causing more harm than good by creating a black market culture (and all the violence inherent in that culture), as well as wasting resources that could be put to better use against more serious infractions So the standard is whether or not a given item is "inherently dangerous"? I would argue that almost anything is inherently dangerous given the intent to do harm. I could take your post and replace "guns" with "knives" and the argument you make still floats.” 8:57:28 AM 4/24/07 “guns should be legal, too. and regulated. pot should be legal. and regulated. no inconsistency there.” 9:59:26 AM 4/24/07 ““...but the argument that was offered was not that pot was safe (see below) i wasnt addressing that issue. i was attempting to dis-abuse pamela of her wrong-headed interpretation of the pro-pot movement by supplying her with a couple of the main arguments for legalization” 10:08:02 AM 4/24/07 “hehe” 5:54:13 PM 4/24/07 “Marijuana keeps tics away.” 6:40:49 PM 4/24/07 “ah, the utilitarian...........mesquitos too.... last edited: 4/24/07 6:57:38 PM” 6:57:02 PM 4/24/07 “ok, now that's a valid use.” 6:58:00 PM 4/24/07 “burn a top in your UGO candle..... :)” 6:59:53 PM 4/24/07 “to be honest, the number one reason for the legalization of pot is that Pink Floyd just doesn't sound the same when I listen all legal like.” 7:31:46 PM 4/24/07 “Neither does Tiny Tim.” 7:36:20 PM 4/24/07 “....he don't look the same either.........” 7:39:26 PM 4/24/07 “That's a very old dodge, Jimmy.” 8:45:40 PM 4/24/07 “tics?” 9:19:05 PM 4/24/07 “Which is a shame, because sometimes I get the munchies for 'em.” 4:23:47 AM 4/25/07 Duuuude... “A Broward County judge apologized in court Monday for smoking marijuana in a Hollywood park, cutting a deal on his misdemeanor drug case but leaving his judicial career in jeopardy. Circuit Judge Lawrence Korda soon could face tough questions from the state's judicial watchdog agency -- ranging from where he got the marijuana to how often he has used the illegal drug. The Judicial Qualifications Commission could recommend that the Florida Supreme Court remove the veteran judge from the bench. http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/local/broward/sfl-ckorda08may08,0,7090834.story” 6:25:08 AM 5/10/07 9:18:27 AM 6/30/07 “*bump*” 6:40:57 AM 4/20/08 “Hoping my son has outgrown it this year...” 6:46:21 AM 4/20/08 “bob marley all over the radio. i was cleaning out the suitcases for the trip and found this colorful rag woven basket. steve sr is wearing it like some kind of rasta hat and putting on the phony accent. silly boyo! ooooooo, the cops are flying overhead” 12:51:59 PM 4/20/08 “You've nowhere to run, Pammie!” 3:33:02 PM 4/20/08 “smoke em if you got em!” 4:20:18 PM 4/20/08 “Some people never grow up.” 4:26:10 PM 4/20/08 “Some people turn into old geezers and give up on enjoying life.......or maybe they never really knew how.” 4:37:13 PM 4/20/08 “Wake up Marky, you are an old Geezer, LOL. Smoking dope at your age is not enjoying life.” 3:22:43 AM 4/21/08 “Smoke 'em if yaq can afford 'em. Er, no, smoke 'em if ya got 'em. Yeah that's it. That's right. My gawd my hands are HUGE!” 3:24:51 AM 4/21/08 “but do you see the little things running in the blue veins in your hands?” 12:47:05 AM 4/22/08 it's just a plant! 3:54:56 PM 4/24/08 “Gosh darn it! Violin posted fuego on a non-fuego thread, again. • Posts on politics or religion outside of fuego. last edited: 3/08/12 8:21:00 PM” 8:14:05 PM 3/08/12 “smoke em if you got em” 8:59:51 AM 3/13/12 ““So why is it A-OK to post fuego on this non-fuego classified thread, but it's not okay to post it here on this non-fuego thread: http://www.thebackpacker.com/trailtalk/thread/17616,-1,6.php This lack of consistency and appearance of bias is why I have a problem with the moderation of this website.” Creek Dancer 12:20:55 PM 3/13/12 It's whatever the "mods" decide it is that day, and who the poster is.” 11:37:02 AM 3/13/12 “Please no new fuego on non-fuego threads. Moderators are not full time, even if things are reported we don't see them right away - so y'all - please report and have some patience and don't add to or repost the fuego.” 11:46:58 AM 3/13/12 “Thanks, Ped! Feel free to delete mine too because now it looks like I am whining about nothing :) last edited: 3/13/12 11:55:20 AM” 11:50:31 AM 3/13/12 “So mine wasn't fuego and was completely related to the topic. Why was it deleted?” 12:00:30 PM 3/13/12 “n/m last edited: 3/13/12 12:05:37 PM” 12:04:04 PM 3/13/12 “Done CD. Sadnyann - Not sure which one was yours. What I saw was a bunch of back and forth comments related to legalization of pot reported by a few TT'ers so I deleted them all. Some were definitely relatively harmless, but it seemed most fair just to eliminate the whole series of posts. I wish we had the ability to change this thread to fuego, or could get Demand's attention - I'd greatly prefer that to deleting posts.” 1:15:47 PM 3/13/12 “Ok. Thanks Ped. Maybe I'll repost but then again maybe not. Wasnt that important.” 1:19:36 PM 3/13/12
