I reserved one site
for 2 nights, Friday and Saturday night at a cost of $31 ($11 per night and a $9 reservation fee). I reserved site 21. I was going to reserve two sites, but the cost was more than I expected.

There is room for 6 people, 2 cars and 2 tents. Site 21 is fairly roomy.

the first 5 people to call dibs on my site can stay with me. If anyone wants to reserve a site, there are plenty of openings right now.
The phone number is 1-800-456-2267.

well school is almost over for the spring. I have been really under wraps with school and work. Definitely bit off a really big chunk this time around.

other than that I am about to get my fat ass on the road bike tomorrow and start training for the summer of love......

at least that is the plan at any rate. We'll see how it goes.

I'll take the final spot if there's still room. I replied to the e-mail you sent out regarding the trip but I guess you didn't get it. No big deal. If your site's already full just let me know and I'll just reserve another one. Thanks.

i wouldn't worry too much about the 2-tent limit.

i think it's just a reserve america default thing.

they really only care about numbers of peeps.

(NOTE: take my advice at your own risk)

sacco, I know what you mean but, if the same rangers are working the site as last year then in this case you do have to worry.

Not only about the number of tents and peeps, but also the number of cars, even though the rest of the campground was empty they made guys take their cars off site. And, know the names and addresses of whoever is going to stay in the site ready when you check in as they won't let you add them as they show up. (we did make up names though and that didn't seem to mater).

Sacco - I would not say they are jerks. I thought they were pretty nice guys. They were polite every time they slapped us. They just take their jobs a tad too seriously. They are fast though. I don't think Pete was finished with his follow through on the first wood chop after hours, and BOOM, they were there.

The LoonyStrider just answered your question, Mister Peteness. We now have 3 sites; 17, 21, and 22.

Adult beverages are allowed. Quiet time starts at 10pm and will be enforced. Ask Sir Paul Bunyon about that one. ;o)

we have three sites right now and ten confirmed. I think we will be ok. I am going to cheat and use my hammock at my site. So there will be three shelters set up on my site.

campground stuff
okee dokee y'all.... I just spent 2 nights in Devil's Tombstone, so here's some info:

First and foremost.. the brother team has split up. Gerry's brother is not there anymore so it's Gerry and some other guy (who wasn't there). I chatted with Gerry for quite some time, and he's a really nice guy. He takes a lot of pride in running this campground, hence his tightness on rules. He is not completely "by the book" though and can be flexible in some areas.

He will allow 3 tents on a site, if they are small backpacking tents, and the site is large enough. 21 and 22 are big enough, and I forgot what the 3rd site was, so I couldn't check it out. ENS - I would bring a backup shelter because the trees in 21 may not be spaced right for your hammock.

Pets - pets are allowed but there must be proof of current rabies vaccination. Pete - remember to wear your collar.

You can buy firewood there but I forgot to ask the price.

Here's the important stuff. The campsites MUST be registered by 9pm. However, anyone staying on the site can register, as long as he has the site number and names (and probably vehicle info) of the others staying in the site.

site 22 - reserved by me.
others on this site: Pete
there's probably room for 1 or 2 more, especially if Pete brings his big tent.

site 21 - reserved by ENS.
ENS - if you are going to get there late, make sure everyone else staying on your site has your info, and vice versa.

site 17 - reserved by Crazypace.
same thing as ENS

by the way - I was there on Saturday, the opening day of their season and it was entertaining watching Gerry trying to relearn the computer. It took about 30 minutes to register, and I ended up driving an Acara Jetta. I registered ENS in case he stopped by and he ended up with a Volkswagen Civic. Gerry assures me he will have the computer mastered by the time we arrive.

mabey its a good site. It's at the end. so mabey I dont have to worry about the noise level as much. I'm sure there's a path cutting across to the other sites.

Nightcrawler = superhero ? mabey supernutcase! I doubt he'll do the whole trail.

Okay I'm not sure about this because I was on like 22 or something but didn't they lock a gate or something across the entrance to the sites 1-17 on the other side of the street so that no one could go in or out after a certain hour?

Anyone else remember this or am I making it up?

Or, it sounds like maybe they will work with people a little more now:)
