What just flew over?
The kids came running in the house screaming the space shuttle is landing. They said they heard on the news that it was landing in Florida.
I have seen the space shuttle reenter the atmosphere many times and this flaming object was on the same exact flight path as the landings I've witnessed. I can't find anything about a landing tonight on CNN or ther news source. What the hell was that thing over my house?

well it wasn't the shuttle - its not supposed to fly again until at least Oct. Maybe a satellite fell or something?

Maybe your kids got lucky and saw a meteoroid burning up.

Like Roam said, it was definitely not the shuttle, it's not going up until May at the absolute earliest.

I saw it as well, I'm sure it wasn't the shuttle. It was too slow to be a meteor. It looked like a controlled entry. I've seen tons of meteors this wasn't one. It was a slow moving ball of fire that took about 20 seconds from horizon to horizon.

space junk - i read somewhere a while back that one piece of "stuff" falls almost every day - luckily it all burns up before getting anywhere near the earth.

"...most of the station's fiery debris fell in the Indian Ocean off the Australian Coast. Nevertheless, multiple pieces of Skylab have been found in the sparsely populated grasslands of western Australia. Nobody was injured. But the U.S. State Department received a $400 fine for littering from the authorities in the town of Esperance, Australia."

This is hilarious.

I emailed somebody who should have first-hand knowledge of this, but not sure I'll get an unclassified response.

Good grief ... we've made space into a junkyard too. I wonder if there's a fuel pump for a 1949 Chevy up there.

I guess we will never know what it was. It is indeed a UFO. I doubt it was the little green guys. I hope they exist and visit soon though, the universe is kinda lonely. This thing was too bright to be an airplane (unless it was on fire) or satellite. I now think the kids saw the object, then made up the I heard it on the news thing. It was wonderful to see on a clear full moon night. Keep looking up.

The mother ship was hiding behind the comet. I guess MarkO's put on his sneakers and crawled into the bunk.

I just hope Tom Terrific isn't with him.
