Ewker, that's one reason I believe the proposed H.R. (which obviously is still subject to Amendment, or even non-passage) is being tied into security, it makes it much easier to prohibit the commercial activities of a non-governmental leasee (i.e. Shell, Exxon, etc). In case anyone wants to read the entire bill, here is the link to it:

we need to be looking for another source of energy. Oil isn't going to be here forever.

I sometimes feel the oil companies and car mfgs are working together to keep cars from getting better gas mileage.

Ewker, for what it is worth, I completely agree with you that a well thought out energy policy must also include as a major component research and development of alternative energy sources.
