“I get off work friday 11:30 PM.....:( How long does it take to get there and back?
last edited: 10/12/04 8:13:36 AM”
“I dunno, around 5 or 6 hours?”
“dunnon if I am up to night hiking after workin on my feet all friday lol...would prolly fall asleep at the whell too”
“lizs you havent signed up for my May trip :) I sent you an invite and EVERYTHING.”
“Didn't see an invite.... maybe it hasn't come yet.”
“Trip guide say 4.5 hours from Chicago.”
“From where I used to live, which is about 35 minutes WEST of YRSF, I could make it to the western Chicago burbs in about 4.5, I think.
Wounded Knee, I have to laugh. Who says this website doesn't pick up info from posts?? I kept getting ads for hotels at Wounded Knee and other stuff at Wounded Knee. LOL! Now, I don't know if you've been there, but there ain't no hotels at Wounded Knee. LOL!”
“You mean it's geographic? I thought it was only anatomic.”
“Any airports close by?
Not that I'm coming, but for future use maybe. ;-)”
“You okay with landing in corn fields? That's Iowa.”
“I think GGGG (greasygrimeygopherguts) might be a surprise show!
Mpls is 2 hours away... You can also do the short hop to Rochester and maybe ride with those sheiks going to Mayo to get their checkups!
OR... mebbee you could talk Snakey into picking you up???
LaCrosse, WI is another option for a short hop, but Rochester is 35 minutes from where I am. And at least pretty close to Snakey's route.
Since he's in MN.
LMFAO!!! ;-P, you slithery devil! I have to apologize to him since he's actually from WI. I just don't like to think about that part of WI. Snakey dissed everything below where he lives on the "Badger" thread. But that's the only area I'll go!!! lol...
GGGG, it's gopher land here. You could pick up all kinds of paraphernalia! OR, in Chatfield, a town I cover , there's a business called GGG. You could maybe pick up some Halloween stationery to easily personalize. aaaahhhhhh! :-)”
“Lizs - that area of which you speak is no longer part of Wisconsin. We have ceded from the union. No fight, no fuss. We're just dropping out. You guys can have all those cows. Folks from Iowa need those cows for deer season.”
“Everytime I see those ads, I laugh. I want to change my name to knee gravy. I wonder what would pop up then?”
“Send me your address and I'll send you the maps. (yes, Snakey, I think you neglected to give me all that emergency info I requested. True, I may stalk you forever, then again, I don't look kindly upon that part of WI!! :-) LOL!)
Hey, if anyone needs me to SEND the maps I e-mailed, just let me know. But soon!!!”
“Lizs - I thought you just wanted that emergency stuff by the time we got there. Couldn't you just jam mydog tags between my teeth?”
“I called the forest headquarters yesterday for a map.”
“If GGGGGGGGGS needs a ride, he could puddle jump to Bloomington Friday afternoon and ride with me. I've got room for one in the Jeep.”
“I'm headed that way, so I could just as easily pick him up at the airport. No prob with me.”
“What airport??? All I see are little bitty air strips. I need a major airport with real airlines, not some cropduster. ;-)
Delta, Northwest, etc...
Anyway, I'm just exploring options right now.

“Mlps/St. Paul. I think one is Hubert H. Humphrey (you should like landing in that one) and I forget the other.”
“I'm out, even before I was in.
$440 air fare with two layovers. :-(
Thanks for the offers of help. I do appreciate it. I waited to long to try and get a flight. $229 if I had been quicker, like a couple of weeks ago.
I'll make it up to see y'all some time.

Hubert H. Humphrey
“Hell, Snake Eyes, I was a very lib Democrat when Humphrey was serving. I liked him. It's like the old saying, If a man isn't a lib when young, he has no soul. If he isn't conservative when older, he has no sense. ;-)”
“Yeah, I loved old HHH. I've heard the same saying and have gotten very comfortable with all heart and no sense, lol.”
“Stovey, FYI, Airtran is the one to try. Right out of Gulfport, into Atlanta and then the Twin Cities.
I've flown as cheap as $120 RT into Atlanta on them. And I think I mentioned the price for that, errrrr... ummm... possible some day trip. LOL!”
“$462 on Airtran, lizs.
Shouldn't you be on your way to TC4 about now?”
“GGGS dun worry, from what I hear the yellow river sucks :)”
“Spirt - You have a question on the SMOKE thread.”
“Lizs, you have mail”
“Wounded Knee, I got that. Very, very sorry. I hope that you're doing ok. Thoughts are with you.”
“lizs, I have emailed you several times as well.”
“Hey Liz, get my mail?”
“I wonder if lizs has any mail.”
“She got my mail, ha ha.”
I just may show up..
“I came home from Michigan early since the weather sucked and, if it looks half decent this week-end, I may appear..have to wait and see what the doc says about my present pulmonary difficulties..haven't unpacked the car, yet..maybe I won't bother..I'll e-mail ya Lizs..got some very dry oak in the car:)

“ChinMusic, sorry, was gone from 4 a.m. Friday-4:30 a.m. today. I think a puppy would be fine. Course, maybe I should ask all... but I think it would be fine. Anybody????
GGGGS, yes, I got your stuff. :-) Now if ONLY I could get a new windscreen. Not even used this weekend, it just got bent up more on the trip. LOL!
Lorax, I got your e-mail (like I said, I've been gone. On deadline today, but hey, I'VE GOT NEW DSL and am just screaming along. I'm GIDDY!)... Yes, I wondered about that. You and I should perhaps talk?? Maybe I'll try to call you tonight?
Wounded Knee, I am taking it Ruby is out too, or am I making a bad assumption there? (hoping she can still come, but I know you're her ride)
Matahari... come on! This one promises easy hiking, least on Friday and Saturday. :-)”
“Oh yeah... and THIS is why I got on here... "Looking good!" to quote that one guy from "Chico and the Man." LOL! WOW! Lets see who else remembers that show!

“Hey Lizs, count me as a strong maybe. Funeral has been changed. I really need to get outside!”
“The weather is looking nice for this one.
I may have to make it out there.”
“I heard at TC4 that Oskar is coming on this trip...is that true?”
“Nice, then I have to come then. If Ohio hiker or whatever his name is shows then we got a party.”
“May I party with y'all? Strong maybe here. Won't know until I show up at the trailhead.
Hope to see you there!”
“LOL, BKG... and just WHO the heck is tanngniost???!? (Did I mention I HATE Halloween names on here?? LOL)
Speaking of which, you might want to bring Halloween clothes, costumes, fun stuff if'n ya like, to the Haunted Hollow for Saturday night. We could leave that stuff in the Jeep, too. **very big grin!**
We have to know who you are before you kin come... :-)”
“Ha! Do you even know who YOU are?”
“Ha! and what will you be dressing up as, hmmmmmmm, hmmmmmm??”
“I would love to come. It all depends on my work load. New awesome job = tons and tons of work. Anyone want to type 1000 pages for me by Monday?”
“I won't have to wear a costume cuz none of you have ever seen me. I'll just tell you I'm someone else :-)”
“Ruby, Ruby... I have to make sense of and retype or format 168 politcal question responses by eight different sets of political candidates. I've got meetings Wed. and Thurs. nights... and Sunday night I'll be typing heavy-duty on that crap.
Good thing I know the trails! ;-) So 'cmon on girl. Great weather. All kinds of folks showing up. And I'm thinking we can have a bit of a Halloween party at Brown's OOOOPS! the Haunted Hollow. Can leave costumes in the Jeep to easily haul into camp when we arrive. :-)
Be there or be square. (where is the square icon????!?)
HEY! And I figured out tanngniost. I THINK I did, anyway (Norse mythology????) Hey dude, let's talk Wed. Call me at my office. I mean, if you're WHO I think you are. LMAO!! Also, if you're around here and can get to MY town, you can have a ride, unless you already have transportation.”
“from bugging you. Thanks for the maps. They got here last Friday. Time in.”
THOR, the norse god of Thunder rode a chariot pulled by 2 goats. One is named, Tanngniost(Gap Tooth). The other is some other wacky norse word Tanngrisnir(Tooth Grinder).
I am... The Goat”
