White Mountains ButtkickerView MessagesIt's On “Who: Me and anyone who dares What: Buttkicker in the Whites. 5 peaks (Zealand, Guyot, West Bond, Bond, and Bondcliff. When: This weekend. Sorry for the short notice. Where: The White Mountains, dammit. Why: Because they're there. More info on the trip page. Like I said, sorry for the short notice. But that can give you an excuse not to do it, even though I really know it's just because you're a wuss.” 6:21:54 PM 9/12/04 “What's going on? This thread has been up nearly half an hour and no replys? Man, you guys really are scared, aren't you?” 7:04:42 PM 9/12/04 “Sheesh! At least give me a chance to unpack from the Dacks Buttkicker. In other words, I'm in. btw - per our phone conversation: JACKASS!” 7:11:35 PM 9/12/04 “Ha ha ha ha!” 7:24:06 PM 9/12/04 “hey! do you guys ever go out into the woods just to enjoy nature? Or do ya just post the buttkicking hikes, and keep the nature hikes to yersefs...? haha! have fun! =D (no, I ain't coming along, I'm gonna be a wuss and hang out by my sista's pool over the weekend!)” 7:26:57 PM 9/12/04 “Nope, I won't be there, but you know the deal.” 8:01:19 PM 9/12/04 “Yep, you're excused skiracer.” 8:06:56 PM 9/12/04 “I would like to go, but I cannot. If you really want to get your butts kicked addd N and S Twin:) If you're up for Tripyramids/Whiteface,Passaconawayin a couple of weeks I should be caught up and going. Missed you at the Mooseland ski.” 9:21:30 PM 9/12/04 Bastard! “I'll be flying to Chicago next weekend to do Isle Royale -- otherwise I'd sooo be in. Have fun.” 9:28:06 PM 9/12/04 “I smell wusses.” 9:31:28 PM 9/12/04 “Artex, I was at Bondcliff/Bond yesterday for the flags event. If I may, I suggest you do Bond/Bondcliff first, go back to the tentsite and hit West Bond at sunset. wusses?? I thought this was a dayhike until I read the trip page:)” 10:15:47 PM 9/12/04 “Good suggestion, pepsi. But wait... sniff sniff... what's that smell? artex eyes pepsi suspicously” 5:36:05 AM 9/13/04 “Finally off on a weekend...but I KNOW I can't keep up with you....i will check the trips page, and see if i can do 1 of the 5,” 6:28:33 AM 9/13/04 “Artex, have you ever actually been up the Zeacliff trail? I did it this summer and it's a guided bushwhack at best. Trust me, it is much faster if you just continue through the notch and go by the hut.” 7:16:55 AM 9/13/04 “Damn! The cast comes off on the 24th (I hope). Physio and then I'm your man!” 2:25:51 PM 9/13/04 “Of this month Gremlin?” 2:29:49 PM 9/13/04 “Wintersolstice, it'd be great if you could make it! Madriver, nope, never done that section of trail. But a guided bushwack sounds appealing. The purpose of this trip is to get our butts kicked. Gremlin - good luck with the cast! Look forward to hiking with you again soon.” 3:08:52 PM 9/13/04 “Sounds like a great hike. I'd be sorely tempted, but I'm working this w/e.” 3:40:53 PM 9/13/04 “Man, only Pennsy as dared so far to take the challenge. What's wrong with you people?!” 7:31:03 PM 9/13/04 “"you people" are still functioning with non-backpacking related brain cells! (not too many left anymore though...)” 8:02:17 PM 9/13/04 “Fee fi fo fuss, I smell the fear coming from a wuss.” 8:03:30 PM 9/13/04 “the only part of your trip i can physically do is day #1 and I have to work Friday. Hey if you bag-out on the baggin' you guys come come down here and kayak” 8:07:02 PM 9/13/04 “That's it Artex, keep taunting 'em and you'll tease them into submission. Pick a weekend in October to hit up the Whites (not LZ's Dix trip) and I'll sooo be there...” 8:29:27 PM 9/13/04 “Hmmmm, maybe I'm the jackass. A couple of questions for the White Mt regulars: Tent platforms: is it possible to rig a non free standing tent on them or will I have to bring a free stander? Is this bear cansiter country or will my Ursack do?” 8:50:07 PM 9/13/04 “No need for the bear canister, the Ursack will be fine. There are hooks on the sides of the platforms and gaps between the boards you can drop the cord through just bring a little extra cord.” 9:08:50 PM 9/13/04 “you can even finagle (sp?) a hammock in the tent platform area if you're clever enough ;)” 10:12:51 PM 9/13/04 “Yup, September 24. My physio got a real laugh when she saw me at the hospital. She's a former student and high school rugby player who now plays for our club. She broke her ankle at the beginning of the season and her cast just came off. She'll also be coaching my girls' team for me this year.” 9:54:03 AM 9/14/04 “my non-free stander uses 8 stakes, so it might not be feasible. I can take a heavier free stander, but are there "regular" tent sites in the area besides the platforms?” 2:55:35 PM 9/14/04 “Think most areas are either cabins or platforms....probably because of the steep slope sides, erosion, and protection of fragile plant life. This link might be useful...and have fun you bad a$$ hiking guys :) camping area information” 3:55:11 PM 9/14/04 “Pennsy, just bring the frickin' Bibler. Jeez!” 4:43:38 PM 9/14/04 “Spots at Guyot are platforms and the lean-to unless the site is full and the caretaker sends you to the overflow. The lean-to is first come just like the Dacks, no platforms on the overflow but you can't use it unless the site is full. Actually, on Saturday he told me they are trying not to use it at all if possible. I can't see any problem setting up on the platform though even with the 8 stake deal. One side you can tie off to the edge and the other side drop a line through the gap and wrap it to the edge or drop it through with a stake tied to it and let the stake turn so it can't come back through the gap and then pull the rope tight.” 4:47:11 PM 9/14/04 “yeah yeah Artex, I'll probably bring the Bib. I kinda wanted to experiment using the Hilleberg as a tarp tent by taking out the body. I'll wait for another time for that, but thankee for the advice Pepsi, and thankee for that link Twinks. Sure you can't go Pepsi?” 5:28:03 PM 9/14/04 curses! “Man, I wish I could go on this trip. Artex, host yet another White Mtn Buttkicker this fall. Once I am in PA, the Whites will be in grasp.” 5:37:09 PM 9/14/04 “Hee hee hee, just kidding with you Pennsy. Earth N' Sky, that's no problem whatsoever. Good luck with the move.” 5:52:10 PM 9/14/04 “I wish I could but not for a couple of weeks. Anyway, I WAS just there last weekend Great trip right Twinks? oh yeah, you didn't go!!!!!! Tripyramids via the north slide, Whiteface-blueberry ridge/Passaconaway in 2-3 weeks. Comrade ENS how soon are you in PA?” 5:55:13 PM 9/14/04 “Artex - You were just kidding? JACKASS!! hey Pepsi - holler when you have the exact dates for that trip. October is fairly booked, but ya never know.” 6:00:07 PM 9/14/04 “"October is fairly booked". Well hello Mr. Fancypants! Yeah, and I'm a Chinese Jet Pilot.” 6:03:54 PM 9/14/04 “thanks Artex, Maybe Cabot mountain is in the crystal ball? Pepsi, will be in PA by October numero uno.” 6:22:00 PM 9/14/04 “Cabot cabin for a winter trip?” 6:55:23 PM 9/14/04 “let's do a winter trip to Mt. Cabot this year. December some time. I need to get snow shoes.” 6:56:53 PM 9/14/04 “I just did a google on Cabot Mountain and came up with links to VT. If I'm not mistaken, is Cabot Mountain not the most northern NH 4ker?” 7:12:45 PM 9/14/04 “Just checked the 48'er list. Nope, don't see a Cabot. In the immortal words of Willy Wonka: "You get NOTHING! You LOSE! Good DAY sir!" :-)” 7:39:21 PM 9/14/04 “Yes, and the cabin is Maintained by the Jefferson Boyscouts but the stove was out last time I was there (June). If they put it back in we'll have to haul up some firewood. Or even if they don't there's a fire ring outside. You can rent snowshoes up there if you don't get them in time or aren't sure which kind you want. BTW Twinks, I was JK.” 7:42:08 PM 9/14/04 Whoops! “Upon further review, there is a Cabot on the 48 list. EarthNSky, would you please pass the salt? It'd go nicely with the foot that's in my mouth.” 7:44:34 PM 9/14/04 “No Cabot on your list? Someone shorted you a mountain.” 7:44:46 PM 9/14/04 “weird, elevation for Mt. Cabot is 4,170 feet. That could be a cool hike though. I found this website on it. http://home.earthlink.net/~ellozy/northern.html Pepsi, you did Mt. Cabot over Memorial day right? Is it a cool hike, climb? Are there alot of surrounding peaks to bag? Treeline?” 7:48:57 PM 9/14/04 “LOL! How does it taste Artez? Oh goody, I get to say this again: JAAAACKASS!! Hey Pepsi - which way do you go to Crawford Notch? I've gone a few different ways but could never figure out which way is quicker.” 7:51:23 PM 9/14/04 “Doh! ...is this a winter trip I smell coming up... [sniff, sniff]...” 7:53:43 PM 9/14/04 “one salt shaker coming up” 7:57:58 PM 9/14/04 “October is a perfect time of year. However, Columbus Day weekend I may be in Tennessee (take a guess why) and then the Halloween weekend I'll be visiting friends down in Jersey. What weekends work for you guys?” 8:04:44 PM 9/14/04 << back to Deam Wilderness page
