“wanderer--have you tried instant miso soup? (you can find it in a Japanese or other Asian groceries). It's pretty much just broth with a few small pieces (depending on the soup) of seaweed and maybe tofu.... sometimes it can be a little spicy (white pepper inside), but it warms you up quickly!

I've also tried the hot ciders and a really good tea by Celestial Creations (Nutcracker Sweet) it comes out in the fall--towards Christmastime-- tastes like a vanilla flavor-- if you bring instant coffee creamer, it is like having a cup of chai (I use the Coffeemate Hazelnut creamer--yummy!!) They also have gingerbread spice tea that's good, too. The Nutcracker Sweet tea is caffeinated, the Gingerbread Spcie tea is caffeine-free....”

The cream of leak makes a great tuna casserole with the foil packet tuna. Two Knorr cream of leek in the big mug and half the tuna.

When I want to get fancy (not often) I use Ramen, but first I soak some Shiitake mushrooms and Black (tree ear) fungus and a packet of freeze dried chicken in the big (insulated) mug with warm water. When they're rehydrated I add the ramen, pour in boiling water and add soy sauce, vinegar and cayenne pepper to make Sze-Tchouan chicken.

I make instant cream of wheat or oatmeal for breakfast. JohnnyWlkr has me making flavoured (amaretto) instant coffees now.

Warm Gatorade is surprisingly good.

A Power bar and fruit leather is good for lunch. I don't carry gorp or trail mix any more because I seem to feel my blood pressure rise and friends tell me my face goes red when I eat it. If it gets worse I might need to forego the bar, too.”

I love to take pepperoni and cheese....Hot Pepper Jack...yum....sone of the pepperoni comes in a pack with two smaller packs so the second pack isn't opened until you need it ( no refrigerating until it is opened) I have some slim jims...but I don't like the "skin" it is way too thick for my taste...I peel it off...LOL...”

I found this granola at my local Fresh Market. It's pretty good and they have a small bag that is very "trail friendly." I had the high protein variety - 10g protein/half cup!! Great source of protein on the trail.
