The Hood...
Hey, y'all! Any westerners in here? I'm hiking the Timberline trail around Mt. Hood in a few weeks. Looks like it's going to be a fun trip. Anyone have any insights, tips, or whatever for me?

Really? Cool! How do you say it in German? No-one seems to pronounce it the way I do ("kay").

not sure how to write the "sound" but if you would say the letter "i" (not the sound)...then put the "k" in front of it.

that's how we say your name.

Hi Kai,
I check in here once in awhile and live in Beaverton. I've never done the whole loop around Mt. Hood, but have dayhiked portions of it.

It should be a nice trip for you. You're doing it at a good time, as the snow and skeeters shouldn't be much of an issue. Stream crossings can be a problem in the afternoons though. Hike early when the flow is lower.

Have fun and tell us how it went!

I think there are a couple relative newcomers from WA that aren't on your list stovie, although their names escape me - a couple of women?

Thanks for the welcome!

While I've got everyone's attention... I just bought some new gear. I think I've got everything covered except for a new sleeping bag. The old one I have takes up half my pack! I'd like to keep it under $200 but still get a warm enough 3-season bag that can compress to a managable size. Any suggestions? (I'm 6'3", 210lbs)

I did a cut and paste from Phil's site.
You need to drop him a note and ask him to add you to the 'List of TTers by State' page.

Kai, we are in a group called Pacific NW Hikers and have folks down in Oregon if you'd like to join us. It's PNWH under Yahoo Groups if you are interested.

Yup, we sure do. Someone is doing some Hood hikes in a couple of weeks you may be interested in. Aug 7, a whole bunch of us are going out to the Olympics to meet one of our Oregon guys at the end of his month long trip.

You ladies need to email Phil (nicest guy on TT, and in CA) a picture for his TT Photo Pages.
A swimsuit picture would be best.
You can send the skinny dipping pictures to me (email in my profile, click on my name).
Happy to help! ;-)

Anybody who is coming up to WA ever, get in touch. We use our Yahoo group to do all our planning for the Posse (that's our nickname for the PNWH). We pretty much have one or two trips planned every week :-D
And, yes, boys, we have lots of ladies :-D

I heard Ki mentioned. It is a difficult Martial Art. On the TV program, The Ten Ultimate Martial Arts, I believe Ki was No. 5. The program has been aired several times during the past two year.

I am actually working on the next update. It will take a few days because of the backlog (my fault).

FYI. I typically don't update the names by state. Usually someone takes than on about once a year and then emails me the list. It is about time for another update.

Sweet! A friend from Portland and I are doing the Timberline Aug 11-14th. That's about all the time I will be able to get off from work for the near future but I bet my friend and his fiance' would be interested in hooking up with you guys for some weekend jaunts. I would be too, but I'm stuck waaay down here in southern Oregon. :(
