Thanks Chris. I think I've almost backpacked with you more than any TT'er. It finally happened at TC2 and now it's been 2 years. Wild.

I still remember talking with you on the phone the time you did Roan the wrong way. I can't remember what the conflict was that time. I know UT and Bama played that Sat, but that wasn't the conflict. Glad to see you back on the board.

hmmmm... Scarlet is like RED, isn't it? LOL

No wonder -- the color red and I aren't on speaking terms. If I make any comment about a color on THAT end of the spectrum, it's just a guess!

I can just barely make out a 3.... I think.

This bolsters my theory that I'm not completely red-green colorblind... Just almost completely, LOL

If you can't tell the difference between brown and green, but can see a little red, then you'd see a 3.

Scorchie: good to hear it.

Miss Opie: Some companies let you buy vacation days, or sell vacation days in addition to the usual medical, dental, vision, perscription, disability, etc.

I was wondering about this too. So how much would you pay for a vacation day as opposed to how much you should be getting paid to take one?? LOL

TD - Did you get my return mail yesterday? It came from my office account and not dayhiker @.

dayhiker: Yuppers, in fact I almost picked up the phone and called yas.. just to catch up some more.. but alas.. next thing I knew I was knee-deep in creating some reports for a corporate visit..

lizs: hehe.. well I don't think its a money making proposition for either party.. lol.. you pay fair rate, and you receive fair rate -- but as I recall?.. (only from memory).. the rate is based on some insurance-created 'average rate' of pay.. and it was a little less than I was making.. so selling vacation days would have sucked, but buying them was actually a bargain.

PERMIT OBTAINED
Hey Y'all. The Permit for Martin's Fork for TC4 is pretty much secured. There is some paperwork, and it will take a few weeks for it to be official, but the lady at Cumberland National Historical Park said she didn't foresee any problems. The permit is for Friday and Saturday night.

Anyone know where I can find a map online that shows where martin’s fork is? I have looked at the usgs topo maps and can’t find it ……Or a map with all the trails in that area would even be better….. I plan on ordering one from Zoe’s in a few days, just trying to get a mental picture of the trail system until I can get it …..

TownDawg, the link to the map doesn’t work, it comes up with,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,You have reached either an unknown or expired web page address.
Please check the URL address again, and/or visit our main page at: http://www.nps.gov/ for navigation assistance. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause................................just my luck....I found another but it’s not very good.

SlowRoller: You got mail. I just sent you the pdf file. You do have Acrobat reader right? If not, it's a free download, and several of us can point you to a link.

As for the link itself, it works fine.. so I am assuming you musta entered it wrong. I always just highlight the text, copy and paste -- rather than taking a chance on typing it wrong.

I should have put the fancy HREF link in though -- sorries.

It does work, at least for me. But it takes time to load. So, if you're on a dial-up, it may never get there completely.

The government was sold a bill-of-goods with acrobate, in my opinion. To use it one needs to study it and experiment with it. And, on my computer, if I try to cut it off by deleting it, it crashes my system. I've already had two crashes trying out the URL and LINK that towndawg supplied.

Towndawg is only trying to supply information. Thanks, towndawg.

Acrobate sucks.
