last hiking trip i used both, mole skin and sports
not real happy with the mole skin. so i bought the sports tape. hoping this helps. I get hot spots on my baby toe :(

boots are fine. i have just been blessed with a cranky toe.

can you suggest something else maybe for my baby toe?

I use the tape on my hot spots, works great.

I have, in desperate hours, considered amputation.

Looks like a job for Duct Tape.

protect the baby toe !
Fuhgetabout the wraps.

Do you wear two pair of socks?

One thin pair of polypro liners and a thicker top pair to your foot's liking? Your dawgs will thank you!

I wear two pairs of socks and my toes still get tore up. It's not a panacea.

Moleskin sucks, IMO.

Band-aid makes a blister bandage that kicks ass and works as prevention better than moleskin, in my experience.

Duct tape, or a bit of moleskin stuck to the duct tape. It works for everything.

Amputation is the only way to go.

j/k mapes.

I generally use duct tape on my heels, although using the blister treatment stuff (feels like skin) as a preventative measure works, too.

may sound funny, but in basic training my drill instructor made us all by pantyhose.

they really work awesome. prevent all chafing from the waist to the toes.

the only guys who got any blisters or had chafing problems on our 25 miler were the guys too cool to wear them.

What Army is sacco in? No basic training does 25 mile hikes.

Walking/running regularly is the best prevention for blisters.

I liked the tape we used 2 weeks ago, Mapes. I'm actually gonna buy me some of that.

YUP!!! I can vouch for that... never got any blisters/hot spots when I wore 2 pairs of socks. Only time I have problems is when I wear only one.

I still get blisters... it's my boots :( I know I need new ones, but i can't afford new boots and these ones are perfectly fine though they hurt my feet i figure I should get some use out of them anyway...

I got two pairs of boots... winter boots and warmer weather boots... I adore the winter boots. I've never had a problem with them, no blisters or anything. But the warmer weather boots are still being broken in. I get hot spots when I wear only 1 pair of socks with them.

I just sent my good boots back. Now I have my crappy ones that make my feet sweat which is about the only thing that seems to cause blisters for me.

I hate to say it but my feet harley ever blister.. guess from years of walking barefoot as a kid. But let me put on liners and I blister like raw meat!! If I wear new boots I just pack on the duct tape works ever time.

I'm with the tape crowd here.
Also, the key for me seems to be keeping things dry, so liner socks are the best.

Ooooo, forgot to mention...

On the Yoho trip last summer, Krazy Kevin, who had the same boots as I do, showed me a more efficient lacing pattern. Presto! No more blisters!! So check your pattern, folks....

i'm not telling anyone to wear pantyhose. i just thought it was kinda funny - all these army guys in full camo, carrying m-16s, marching down the road - and (almost) all of them are wearing pantyhose underneath.

but they really did work.

the u.s. army miss A.T.

maybe your right, to be honest i can't be positive about the distance, it's been 11 years and didn't exactly use a survey wheel and keep a journal.

maybe it was 25 KM. i wasn't exactly trying to impress anyone around here with the number. my point was just that it was a long hike.

duct tape when necessary, and mountaineering weight smart wool socks. I quit wearing liner socks when I switched from regular wool to smart wool.

I'm gonna have to try that.. this past weekend the sports tape failed me! I loved it a couple weekends ago, but this time it stuck to the sock more than my foot (a different brand, maybe).

I also will try the duct tape.
