Borah? not yet - but i'd love to go up there some day. Chicken Out Ridge looks FUN!

Good luck on Hood - i'd like to do that some time as well..... there's so many places to go.

Clingmans is cool as it has the distinction of being the highest point on the AT - and the second highest point east of the Mississippi.

My better half did Borah this summer...he said it was amazing. Chicken Out Ridge is my kind of place! We had done Katahdin earlier in the summer via Knife's Edge...the pics of Borah had me drooling. Oy!!!

We were going to do Gannett (WY) this summer but plans have a changed a wee bit. :)

Gannet's sposed to be a pretty fun/tough climb.

Yeah...it's more of a backpacking trip with a day to conquer the summit. Probably 5-6 days at least. Looks incredible though. We were also going to do a trip in the Beartooths and scout out a preferred route for Granite for the following year.

Dream plan is to do Rainier next year, and then Gannett or Granite and Borah in 2010 or 2011.

PS Driving to the top of Mount Mitchell and Clingman's Dome doesn't count. You have to hike it.

I tried Gannett in '01. Sarabelle was unable to summit Bonnie Pass, so I left her behind and topped the pass alone. I lingered there for a spell, then went back to Belle. At least I got a good look at Gannett /o:

ENS, myself and a whole gaggle of tt'ers did Mitchell a few years back - we came outta the woods into the giant parking area after being on trail in the rain for a couple of days - shoulda seen the looks the tourists gave us. :)

It would be hard to tell if that was Nebraska or Delaware if he wasn't holding the Nebraska flag.

Roam, 3rd highest east of the great Mississippi. The second is Mt. Craig in the Blacks.

In '96, I did my first Rockies hike. It was in the Lemhi Range of Idaho. For two consecutive nights, our campsite was overshadowed by Iron Creek Point. The peak haunted me. On the day before we shagged out, I took the dare, and started up and up and up with the Ten Essentials on my back and my trusty Georgia red oak staff in my hand.

Near the top, I flushed a magnificent ram. He seemed to be chiseled from white marble. He moved effortlessly across the scree and up the jagged cliffs. I was awe struck (this was just two days after standing eye-to-eye with a grizzly with nothing but one hundred feet of air and opportunity between us).

Within a half hour I was perched atop one of the highest points in the Lemhi's - ICP's elevation is about 10,500 ft.

It was a moment I will never forget, and one that will never be surpassed - regardless to what highpoints I may someday conquer.

From my perch I could see the nearby Lost River Range, including Borah. I could see the Pioneers, White Clouds, Salmon Rivers, Bitterroots, and even the very distant Tetons.

No sir. Unsurpasseble.

God Bless America!

Just added Mount Hood to my list..
Planning on Rainier and possibly Borah in 2009...

Also there should be a qualification about Peak Bagging some of the points.... There was a guy hiking Mount Hood with me who is Peak Bagging.. We talked about Clingman's Dome and Mount Mitchell and when I started talking about the hike he looked at me like I was an idiot...

'You can drive to the top of both of them' he stated.... No #&%!$, but then its your car that is doing the bagging....
