woohoo! i had to coordinate with my friend jeff who is going to go down with me and then drive my car back to indiana, and now the dates are set. lift-off for GA : ME is set for the morning of march 14th. gonna drive down on the 12th, spend the night on springer mt on the 13th, and start my journey on the 14th. just knowing exactly the date makes it seem a lot more real, as opposed to saying "early to mid march" i start puttin down feets in 62 days!

Kewl Beans 2scoops/stormbringer.

You gonna use StormBringer as your AT name? We might be able to read about you from some of the other's hiker's online journals.

Of course you could start at Neels Gap as you have done the trail up to that point. Get a jump on the big mass of starters.

"You gonna use StormBringer as your AT name?"

of course. one of the reasons i changed was to have a trailname that actually had something to do with the trail.

"Of course you could start at Neels Gap as you have done the trail up to that point."

technically, yes, youre right. but i wouldnt feel right doing that unless it was a significant chunk. im doin 2000 miles, whats another 30? but i am skipping the approach trail.

"We might be able to read about you from some of the other's hiker's online journals."

Alright!

Maybe I could meet up with you in Maryland or Pennsylvania.

A bunch of us could be waitin' for you somewhere north of Harper's Ferry with some home cookin' and a bit of party too!

We found out that StormBringer guy used to be called 2poops on thebackpacker.com. We all have started throwing turds at him now instead of rocks.

Cool, you start on my birthday! The big 23. How do we contact you while you're on the trail? After the Dolly Sods trip I might catch up with you and hike part of the AT with you for a few days. Lemme know.

SB, have you started a Trail Journal yet? It's very helpful and we'll be able to track yer success. If I'm not mistaken, we can even send ya drops along the way, yes?

K, I'm signed up. When you get a trail journal let us know. Most people are just setting up their accounts now and posting "prep" entries.

I'd love to, but I don't think it would be possible. See, this is where the trail journal would help. I/we could see where you'd be at and then a suprise kid napping could occur. My summer might be a little free, but there's no way I can even tell what's going to happen.

Heck, none of us will be able to keep you with you later in your trip. You'll be a lean mean hiking machine ripping off 20 mile days without a thought!

Hey, my brother is going to start right around that time. I hope you have a great time, and I wouldn't mind attending the Harper's Ferry party. I still need to meet Tom T, because I stood him up last time I was in town.

I'm so green with envy I could just spit.

I had a chance to do an AT hike in the early 80's. I felt I had too much responsibilities and didn't go. Have regreted it all my life. The responsibilities didn't really start till much later.

Go now young man, go now!

SB,
Good luck. Wish I could start with ya'. I'll be doin' the PA/AT starting at the Mason-Dixon line on May 29th. If you do an on-line trail journal, let us know. I'd enjoy tracking your progress.
