Life's better Up North. :)” 7:52:59 AM 9/08/04 “nowslimmer, is your email on your profile correct. I sent you one earlier today, just wondering if you got it?” 6:13:28 PM 12/10/04 Ewker “You should have mail. Sorry, but I usually don't check for mail there more than once a day. That address is for TT and other spam mail. LOL.” 8:56:33 PM 12/10/04 “Hi NS. How's life?” 8:57:42 PM 12/10/04 “Great, Tango. How 'bout with you? Did you ever receive my e-mail about the campground purchase you were considering? Best wishes.” 9:03:20 PM 12/10/04 “Yes, I thought I answered you. I remember composing an email to you. By the time the owner got in touch with me the campground was pretty much sold...to a guy from Tallahassee. So maybe in a few years he'll want to retire and sell to ME! Thank you for the advice and your story. It was much appreciated.” 9:08:25 PM 12/10/04 “Nowslimmer, I got your email late last night. Thanks for the info it is appreciated.” 11:31:14 AM 12/11/04 “When are you going to be in GSMNP?” 1:47:12 PM 2/18/05 “Plans are for most of the spring starting around the beginning of March until around the middle of May. Then I will be going north, maybe to Minnesota before Iowa and my youngest daughter's graduation from Grinnell on May 23rd. But I have a daughter in the hospital here and I have to see how things work out for her. Watch the Get UP! thread for updates.” 2:04:05 PM 2/18/05 “Cool, I'll be up that way often over the next few months. I'll check the thread from the road.” 3:28:32 PM 2/18/05 For the classical music fan... “...that I know you are. Thought you may find this interesting. http://www.cnn.com/2005/SHOWBIZ/Music/06/08/bach.ap/index.html” 1:36:28 PM 6/08/05 “I saw that...very interesting. A Music Major friend told me that after he died, Bach's children (he had 23) sold his sheet music in the streets for pennies. I wouldn't be surprised if they find more of his stuff in the future. Music-nerd joke: Q: Why did Bach have so many children? A: Because there were no stops on his organ!” 1:38:29 PM 6/08/05 “groan” 1:44:18 PM 6/08/05 “Since my mother was a music lover, Dad always said he was giving her an upright organ for whatever the occasion.” 1:45:14 PM 6/08/05 “hey nowslimmer - a question came up over on whiteblaze about a sign at Mountain Mama's - do you remember any sign there that mentions an eye and an ear - possibly eye of potatoe and ear of corn?” 2:00:29 PM 9/27/05 “No, but I'll try to check on it, if possible, before I return to Florida. They will be reducing their days and hours soon, but I hope to visit with them. last edited: 9/27/05 6:10:41 PM” 6:09:40 PM 9/27/05 Hog On Ice “From Mountain Mama's: can he not hear? He who planted the eye can he not see?" last edited: 10/17/05 3:24:52 PM” 3:18:10 PM 10/17/05 “ can he not fart? last edited: 10/17/05 3:25:43 PM” 3:22:08 PM 10/17/05 “That was for someone else, who asked about it.” 3:24:17 PM 10/17/05 “i dont mean to be a nag, but this is really one of my pet cyber-peeves: fix the frickin message from s-rge's friend thread that you goobered up and i wont tell lizs what you did to her pink thingy when she wasnt looking!” 4:34:18 PM 11/09/05 “Have you checked your PO box lately? Those MREs should be getting close to you. I was thinking they would be there the first part of this week. Merry Christmas!” 8:51:21 AM 12/22/05 “I'll do it soon. I keep forgetting that they put packages in side lockers and a key in one's P.O. Box. All I remember are the long lines to get someone to retrieve the package from a pick-up slip notice.” 9:06:30 AM 12/22/05 “I tore your check up. Those MREs were a gift. :-) No payment for shipping was needed.” 2:56:24 PM 3/28/06 “Thanks, StoveStomper. I just didn't feel you should have to foot the bill for the postage, on top of the packaging. So, again, thanks a lot.” 3:11:50 PM 3/28/06 “You are most welcome. It was my pleasure, Paul.” 3:22:33 PM 3/28/06 “StoveStomper - I tore up your check too. That you-know-what was a gift. :-O” 3:26:42 PM 3/28/06 “Sarge, don't get all weird on us now. LOL” 3:31:23 PM 3/28/06 “sarge....EW! PUKE-O-RAMA!!!” 3:39:17 PM 3/28/06 “There was no puking or choking going on.” 3:41:33 PM 3/28/06 “stove stompwer, can you please send me any checks that you want to tear up. my unemployment has run out...” 3:44:12 PM 3/28/06 “Hey Nowslimmer! You still around the Smokies? I'm heading up that way next week. Want some more MREs?” 7:51:40 AM 6/22/06 StoveStomper “Yep! And sure, they're great. Thanks. last edited: 6/22/06 10:06:29 AM” 10:05:45 AM 6/22/06 “Let us know when you are in the neighborhood, SS.” 7:36:46 AM 6/23/06 “I will, chili. :-) The really really GREAT thing about not being married is I can do what I want when I want too without preapproved planning. LOL I have no real plan. I'm maybe going to drive up to Atlanta Sunday or Monday and hit the gear stores, then try and hit The Dillard House in N. GA for a meal. Maybe finish the end of the GA AT section I need to if I can find a shuttle service that will not charge me $100. Drive up into the Smokies maybe by the middle of the week. See if I can find Nowslimmer to give him some MREs. Stay a couple of days somewhere on the NC side. Drive back Sat or Sun. Loose plans. Open to much change. ;-)” 7:46:03 AM 6/23/06 “have you used Standing Bear Farm for a shuttle before? I have heard people say nice things about this place. It is right off I-40 where the AT crosses it http://standingbearfarm.tripod.com/” 8:12:05 AM 6/23/06 “Standing Bear is highly regarded amongst thru hikers. I also highly recommend Standing Bare.” 8:14:21 AM 6/23/06 “I sunburn too easy.” 8:16:58 AM 6/23/06 “Shuttle from where to where?” 10:14:32 AM 6/23/06 “Don't know yet. ;-)” 11:45:17 AM 6/23/06 “Hey Paul!!! Where are you? I stopped by the Balsant (Sp?) Mt Campground on the NC side and you were not there. I have a case of MREs for you. I'm in Gatlindburg right now and plan to stay tonight and swing back to the NC side tomorrow. Chili, I'm haven't had time to holler at y'all. Having a good time.” 8:57:35 AM 6/28/06 “He said something about car repairs on the get up thread. Have you checked there?” 8:58:18 AM 6/28/06 Thanks treebait. “Looks like he's still at Deep Creek CG. I'll swing by there tommorrow (Thursday). Now, how the heck do I find him if his car is in the shop? I was planning on checking for FL tags. Maybe he will post be tommorrow morning.” 9:02:47 AM 6/28/06 “StoveStomper - Ï'll wait for you. CS#54. (if we miss each other, you can leave the food supply at the Deep Creek Camp Ground entrance with Angela. Thanks a bundle. If you have an opportunity, please post an expected time-of-arrival(TOA). The car problem turned out to be the timing and it needed a new air filter. It is running much better, but I still don't think it is getting full power.” 9:18:21 AM 6/28/06 “I might have to make a road trip to Newport and swing through the East side of the park in the next day or two.” 9:29:10 AM 6/28/06 “Kewl Beans! D.C. campsite #54 Prob be mid afternoon before I swing by. I can't remember your last name, Paul. Please email me that, that so I can label the box if I leave it at the office.” 9:39:10 AM 6/28/06 “Can't get e-mail out of this area. Their system gives me ms timeout errors when I try to use my road runner mail service. Angela(Angel) knows me and so do the Host and Hostess. But I'll try to be there.” 9:51:43 AM 6/28/06 “Hey NS...have you ever paddled across Fontana lake to campsite #87 at GSMNP?? Was wondering how long a paddle it is, what condition the campsite is in, etc.” 7:59:00 PM 7/28/06 “Are some of you going to be in GSMNP this week?” 8:09:01 PM 7/28/06 “MDSHike - I was at the dam just a few days ago. I believe I saw the Island from the dam. It is not too far from the Fontana Marina. The lake's water-level was almost at it's highest, but they may have started to draw it down. I took a shuttle to CS#90 last fall. From there I hit CS#90 and the three campsites above it on Eagle Creek and CS# 91, which is up above CS#90 along Lost Cove Trail. Previously, I have backpacked several times to CS#90; The shuttle returned for me at CS#90 and dropped me off at the Island with CS#87. I stayed there one night. The campsite was in good shape. I enjoyed it. The trailhead is at the north end of the Island. At low tide(when the lake is down low), the Island is connected to the mainland north of the Island. At Tsali I tried to find the leak in my inflatable kayak, but failed. I did paddle around for a while. However, I decided not to use it to cross Fontana Lake to CS#72, 73 and 78. XL400236 - I am no longer in the area. It was too hot and humid there recently. last edited: 7/28/06 10:15:28 PM” 10:07:42 PM 7/28/06
