Pretty cool place - a few snowflakes falling, but not really enuff to call it "snowing". The peaks are all snowcovered though. New gear purchase last night: Columbia Gloves. Looking forward to it! seeyouguyslater, I'll maybe check in from time to time.” 9:32:29 AM 11/13/04 “Hugs to Roam....glad you made it!!!...and best wishes on your new job!!!!” 10:11:46 AM 11/13/04 “ya buncha slackers!” 7:25:37 PM 11/13/04 “i hate snow already and we didn't even get any! there was about 3 inches of snow on the ground at harriman this weekend when we were hiking. on the way driving out of harriman state park, we came 3 feet of sliding backwards off a cliff (ridge). it was the scariest moment of my life. i lost control fo the steering and we were sliding backwards and sideways and the wheels were spinning. i quick turned off the car, yanked up the emergency break and told nora to get the dog and get the F outta the car. the car was still sliding a foot or so even while it was turned off. i was afraid to get outta the car for fear my car would roll off the ridge. we called 911 and about 20 minutes later a ranger came and even HE could barely get to us with his truck; he was sliding everywhere and got stuck in a ditch. along came this guy out of NO where (no gear, no water, no nothing) who had been hiking who helped us push the car straight instead of being on an angle and backed the car down the hill (about a mile or so). it took almost a half hour. it was one of the scariest things i'd ever been through. it doesn't sound like much in words, but coming close to sliding off a HUGE cliff (with NO guardrails) and there being nothing u can do, it was the closest thing i came to having a near death experience.” 3:55:07 PM 11/14/04 “jeez u are all a bunch of slackers to let this fall off the page for such long periods of time. i think this thread is dying...” 6:13:07 AM 11/16/04 “Yeah, what are y'all doing at night? The parrot had a bad attitude and an even worse vocabulary. Every word out of the bird's mouth was rude, obnoxious and laced with profanity. Scorchy tried and tried to change the bird's attitude by consistently saying only polite words, playing soft music and anything else she could think of to "clean up" the bird's vocabulary. Finally, Scorchy was fed up and he yelled at the parrot. The parrot yelled back. Scorchy shook the parrot and the parrot got angrier and even ruder. Scorchy, in desperation, threw up her hand, grabbed the bird and put him in the freezer. For a few minutes the parrot squawked and kicked and screamed. Then suddenly there was total quiet. Not a peep was heard for over a minute. Fearing that she'd hurt the parrot, Scorchy quickly opened the door to the freezer. The parrot calmly stepped out onto Scorchy's outstretched arms and said, "I believe I may have offended you with my rude language and actions. I'm sincerely remorseful for my inappropriate transgressions and I fully intend to do everything I can to correct my rude and unforgivable behavior." Scorchy was stunned at the change in the bird's attitude.
