i'd be glad to - it'd beat the hell of figuring out what tax deposits these guys made in FREAKING 2001 or flowcharting the internal control structure.

Of course, if i did your drawings, you'd prolly get fired.

Yes, renting is not a good thing when you rent to that one friend that turns out to be a bigger loser than you though. All they have to do is file a motion in court when they get the eviction notice and they're rent free until the court date. After that the judge usually screws the landlord because the jerk never has enough money to cover the back rent.

so how can i get myself some free internet service so i can be crawlin again at home??
simer190
8:34:07 PM
10/26/04

Free? I don't know about all that. If you want a dial-up for cheap you can go for NetZero. I think it's $10. Not the best service but it's cheap. On the other hand, Juno will still give you access for free the last time I checked. I used to just reload the software when it wouldn't allow me to build new user names and start over. At the time it was pretty much unlimited surfing for free. They've upgraded the software since then and they only give you something like 5 free accounts on your computer before they cut you off. I couldn't figure out how to get past the upgrade. I'm sure it can be done though.

10/26/04

hmmm, simer not having a phone will be detrimental to your obtaining cheap internet.

unless your neighbors set up a wireless setup or something like that. or you could always try to tap into their cable or telephone. they might get suspicious though if they try to use their phone and always get the modem squeal.

Silent J

hmm, i just need to steal some cable, and some cable internet and i'll be set
simer190
9:02:25 PM
10/26/04

but instead of wasting time on the internet i find more beneficial use of my time... like playing playstation
simer190
9:03:29 PM
10/26/04

might be tough to get away with as the cable internet is delivered via the digital cable and i think their server will record the login event in their network.

i.e. your busted as soon as you hit the server.
Roam Around

i got it... i'll just run a network cable from the school to my house... now where can i get 2 miles of line?
simer190

playstation is good for hand eye coordination and with certain games challenges your problem solving skills.

See - its not a waste of time at all!
Roam Around

exactly... i'm just past the middle of final fantasy viii at the moment, the combination of ff viii and ix should last me most of the school year.

It's funny but when I got the modem that came with my DSL I had to log the serial #. Most likely for that very reason. I was thinking about buying a new modem though so I could link multiple computers in the home through HomePNA. (I have to have multiple computers first) I'm going to call SBC now to see if I have to register the new modem with them.
Silent J
9:11:12 PM
10/26/04

Playstation, schmaystation. I sold mine for $100 and a DVD player over a year ago because I was never playing it...

There is no logon for cable internet. Rather, they use an encoded identifier on your cable modem (called a MAC address) to authenticate you. If you could spoof... (well, I'm sure you could figure it out from here...)

Roam, I don't care where you heard it from, I still say it came from the back of a Snapple cap.
PhantomLostSoul

No no no...all you need to do is buy a 802.11g wireless card with an antenna port and build yourself a directional Pringle's Cantenna...mount it on a tripod and aim it at the nearest wifi signal. Voila! Instant internet and your neighbor .5 mile away will have no idea who's stealing it. Heck, most people don't even change their routing settings from default including the password so they'd have no idea you were "borrowing" their internet.

Check this URL http://www.oreillynet.com/cs/weblog/view/wlg/448 for how to build a cantenna...obviously you will need to buy a can of Pringles. Eating them are optional but suggested.
