I just got home from the road trip a little while ago.

Yeah, I wouldn't recommend that type of food for daily use.

I was shocked anything was still swimming in the tanks when I got home.

Fish
I've got 5 danios and 4 Tetras (forget the exact type) in a 29 gal tank and my daughter has 4 or 5 neon tetras and a couple of molly's in her 10 gal tank.

Amazingly almost all survived 6 weeks with zero attention while I was gone - they devoured the live plants though.

Oh, there's several snails that helped clean up too.

They stopped giving me money so I had to return to work so I just went ahead and got a real job. I might be in Georgia for two weeks starting on the 9th...I wonder if anyone there wants to go backpacking?

Awesome. I can't decide if I should bring my gear to GA with me or not. I don't wanna lug it down there and not go anywhere! I'll probably make a post later this week to the GA TTers to see if they wanna do a quick weekend trip.

If your driving - just throw it in the trunk, who knows.

Of course when I left FL for NC I had three trips planned and was stopping in the mountains on the way up to boot. I grabbed a bag night on the way home too.

YOU THINK THAT YOURE ALONE IN THESE THOUGHTS roam?? I told scorch that never would i go north of north carolina on I-95 ever again...their roads suck big fat donkey balls up past there...

I tried to warn all yous, but did you listen? No, of course not. 95 sucks where the sun don't shine, and in some places (like parts of New Jersey), it ain't even built yet...

That being said, 81 is a much better road (and it's complete -- maybe because it doesn't go thru New Jersey). Ahhh, scenic 81...

Ok, let's talk about long, boring, flat roads, then. How about 80-90 from Cleveland to Chicago -- you actually have to concentrate on not dozing off. and 80 probably gets worse west of Chicago...

The entire 450-mile length of the Pennsylvania Turnpike (Pittsburgh to Philadelphia to Scranton) is pretty bad too, as it was originally built as an ultra-long-distance highway, providing an exit only about every 25-30 miles or so...
PhantomSoul

81 is good all the way to Canada -- from Binghamton to Syracuse, right on up the the Thousand Islands on the border of New York and Canada where Lake Ontario drains into the St Lawerence Seaway -- very scenic area; lotsa castles and stuff...
PhantomSoul

I-90 from Albany to Buffalo is pretty boring.
lumberzac

I have driven the highways you all speak of; and yes, they are long and boring.

However, nothing can compare to the boringness of I-80 through Nebraska.
Ruby
9:43:36 PM
8/03/04

Yeah, that was my runner up...

The east-west roads around here are not smash hits; but now that I think of it, 80 is pretty scenic thru much of Pennsylvania, and 17/86 in New York is amazing thru the western Catskills between Binghamton and Liberty.
PhantomSoul
9:45:32 PM

I can imagine. I-90 from Mid Ohio to Illinois was no treat either. Mile after mile of corn fields and flat land.

Oh yeah add in and unexpected stop in Gary Indian due to car trouble.

Other Scenic Freeways in the Northeast
68 in Maryland and West Virginia is absolutely spectacular.

And of course we have to mention 87 in New York between Lake George and Plattsburgh -- this would be the traverse thru the Adirondack Park -- possibly the most scenic freeway on the East Coast...
PhantomSoul
9:50:58 PM

The best highway in NY is State Route 73 from exit 30 off of I-87 all the way to Lake Placid. About 25 miles of winding road through the mountains.

Georgia
If all goes well then I will fly into Atlanta, Georgia sometime Monday evening next week. I'll be there for ten business days training for the new job I just got. However, there is a chance my paperwork won't be done in time and I'll have to go to a training session in Sept/Oct. But hopefully it will be next week.

I'm not sure of the details yet but I believe the training will take place slightly north of Atlanta. So Divinity, I'll be there from Aug 9-20/21 and I'll have the weekend of the 14/15th off work. I get two bags + a carry on so I was thinking of bringing my backpack in one bag and work clothes in another IF someone wanted to get together and go backpacking on that weekend. Of course I'll probably need a pickup, but if that can't happen but a trip can then I'll rent a car.

Labor Day...
As much as I would love to go to the Santanoni-fest 2K4, I've already committed Labor Day weekend to my father's house, where his development usually throws a massive party (and everyone gets wasted; and when I say that, I mean wasted -- it's a Slovak party) and everyone's families come up and its the only chance we really have all year to see old friends, etc, etc. So Santanoni, you will have to wait for another weekend...

Labor Day is like the one weekend all year that always set in stone for my father's house...
