I've already been hiking and back. Detach yer butts from those chairs before they become permanently affixed and walk around the block er somethin'.” 3:16:58 PM 4/25/04 “pfff i went for a hike mid-day...i have a hiking trail outside my front that goes to the Chattahoochee river...been there done that...” 3:24:42 PM 4/25/04 “i walked to the store to get some cough drops, does that count?” 3:25:40 PM 4/25/04 “sure that counts, you walked right! Me and the kids did a dayhike down at the Savannahs State Park, huge 10 mile long wetland area. I was hoping to see a gator, but no luck, did see a small snake - briefly as it skeedaddled. Saw some prickly pear cactus, one in bloom even, and lots of dragonflies too.” 3:32:36 PM 4/25/04 “i love dragonflies” 3:42:24 PM 4/25/04 “one landed on the back of Alex's arm and kinda freaked him out.” 3:52:10 PM 4/25/04 “ 4:00:35 PM 4/25/04 “ 4:01:18 PM 4/25/04 “test your mom” 4:06:47 PM 4/25/04 “Ewwwwwww, Scorchy! I've been busy in other ways this weekend. I changed the oil in my truck and the van, and I rotated the tires on my truck. Jeez I made a mess changing the oil in the van, darn Japanese engineers!” 4:18:13 PM 4/25/04 “spread out some kitty litter” 4:26:26 PM 4/25/04 “ha ...japanese engineers make a car much easier to work on than does the homeland GM, ford, and chrysler...i should know i work on all of them every day...” 4:28:20 PM 4/25/04 “Oh yah I used quite a bit of kitty litter today...” 4:29:23 PM 4/25/04 “Well Shep, changing the oil in my Dodge Dakota is way easier than changing the oil in the Honda Odyssey...I don't even need a funnel on the Dakota, the inlet for engine oil has a built-in funnel. The pan plug on the Dakota points down, instead of parallel to the ground, so when the oil does come out, it goes into the collection pan, instead of spraying two feet away and over the pan onto the floor. And the oil filter on the Dakota is easily accessible, instead of behind a plastic shield (like on the Odyssey) which cannot be removed and must simply be pulled back. And the Dakota uses a standard size filter which can be removed with a standard filter wrench, instead of a special, teensy-weeny filter, which requires a special tool to remove it (luckily I was able to remove it with just my hand). And of course the biggest difference: the Dakota is high enough off the ground that I don't have to put it up on jackstands to change the oil. I can just slide under there and do it, even with my big ol' self. So, IMO, advantage Dodge.” 4:42:27 PM 4/25/04 “you ever tried to do anything other than change the oil on a car...such as R&I on fenders, doors, bumpers, frames, frame rails? more than likely not or else you would no doubt agree that the order of ease is 1. Japan 2. U.S. 3. Europe 4. Germany is a category all their own....” 4:47:10 PM 4/25/04 “Hey bitpusher, on those little bitty filters, you can stab a big screwdriver though the side of it and use it like a handle to take the old one off. Getting the new one tight though, well, try a different method.” 4:55:09 PM 4/25/04 “shep, I'm talking about changing the oil here, not major body work. If your experience leads you to a different conclusion on different kinds of work, fine. If you are trying to establish who has more experience working on autos, I will gladly cede that argument to you. But I'm talking about a car owner changing his own oil, and in my experience, it's much easier to change the oil in my Dakota than in my Odyssey. Roam, I thought I might have to do that. I did make sure I could get it off before I drained the oil, lol...” 5:54:19 PM 4/25/04 “it works, speaking from experience here. LOL, kinda messy though.” 6:04:38 PM 4/25/04 bit “You tell them, Buy American next time! The job you save could be yours, or your children's/grandchildrens, or even mine!” 6:07:16 PM 4/25/04 “Well I just got back about an hour and a half ago. What a fun trip.” 7:35:21 PM 4/25/04 “yeah buy american to make it harder for simple joes ike me to work on your damn car...takes longer to get parts longer to do repairs and usually have delays that you dont have with asian autos...please make my job harder...” 7:44:54 PM 4/25/04 “Just checking in” 8:00:50 PM 4/25/04 “whats up Scorchy” 8:03:10 PM 4/25/04 “Just got done a 17 page paper for school. End of college career and still doing papers... actually it's for my college portfolio due Wednesday.” 8:08:11 PM 4/25/04 “thats a lot of writing. feels good to be getting close to the end don't it” 8:17:21 PM 4/25/04 “yeah, that's longer than any paper I plan to write... i like my classes, sea kayaking, intro to high adventure recreation, park maitenece and operations, wilderness leadership....” 8:22:19 PM 4/25/04 “wow simer tough classes...i dont know how you could possibly hold an interest in them...” 8:24:52 PM 4/25/04 “feels good to be getting close to the end don't it" HELL YES. That wasn't the longest paper I've had to write either, Simer.” 8:31:40 PM 4/25/04 “the longest paper i've had to write is 5 pages” 8:34:43 PM 4/25/04 “ScorchFire - Sounds like a busy weekend. How did your presentation go? I've been gone all weekend so I'm a little on what's going on.” 8:36:17 PM 4/25/04 “It went really well, thanks for asking.” 8:37:32 PM 4/25/04 “my last semester was kinda a blur, in undergrad. Grad school was just like one giant push to get the damn thing over with. Pretty much cured me from ever wantign to step into a classroom again.” 8:47:49 PM 4/25/04 “Roam, I know how that is.. I got senioritis soooo bad right now that I just can't even FATHOM studying for finals next week. My first final is the Monday after the Hawk Mt. trip. I'm gonna be so tired from hiking all weekend. I'll prob just look over all my notes.. I pretty much know the material.” 9:12:53 PM 4/25/04 “I think I only had one final exam my entire last year in college. I did have a two-semester thesis project that boiled down to an hour presentation in which it was decided then if I was getting my diploma. The last few weeks before were probably some of the most stressful days of my life. I even got a few gray hairs in the process.” 9:20:47 PM 4/25/04 “Yea, Z, that's what this is! Stressful as hell, wasn't it?? I'm still going through it : ( I only have 2 finals this semester though, thank God.” 9:31:24 PM 4/25/04 “I had just this one big test at the end of the Masters program, it was kind of an all or nothing thing - THAT was stressful. No oral exam though. That was nice.” 10:04:06 PM 4/25/04 “Roam doesn't like orals? So close to 10 grand.” 10:04:55 PM 4/25/04 “guess I shoulda seen that one comeing....” 10:06:18 PM 4/25/04 “Slacker” 10:06:39 PM 4/25/04 “and I thought sure we'd be at least to 9,500 by now!” 10:07:10 PM 4/25/04 “I'd much rather be posting on TT than doing schoolwork!” 10:09:12 PM 4/25/04 Young Chicks “So I was surfing a link off of a friends AIM profile and I came across a livejournal by a chick I know from a long time ago. Back when I was a senior in high school this 8th grade chick used to come over and flirt with my buddy and I at ball games and stuff. Of course we'd always blow her off, her being in 8th grade and all (didn't want 20years for 15). So I haven't seen or heard of her since I graduated and then I come across her live journal which has a link to a webshots account and DAMN is she hot now...and legal. So whatta you guys think, should I send her and email requesting her number and go visit her? She's 2 hours away. Only problem is, according to her journal, she is good friends with a chick I absolutely hate and gave a good verbal lashing last year.” 10:10:37 PM 4/25/04 “Still kinda young” 10:16:01 PM 4/25/04 “I know :D Freshwomen are soo great. She's cute and in college 2 hours away...hmmm...decisions.” 10:28:31 PM 4/25/04 “Well she's still got the college experience to go through, so keep that in mind.. whereas you'll be graduating soon (are you?)” 10:37:46 PM 4/25/04 10:38:03 PM 4/25/04 “Well, I'm not planning on dating someone that lives 2 hours away as I absolutely abhor long distance relationships. Besides there are plenty of dating-worthy women here in Columbus. I just think it would be cool to have a chick in another city closeby to hang out with and go visit and she could visit me. You know? I mean, I really don't visit or hang out with anyone in other cities. My bro goes to WVU and I'm gonna visit him and I might look up some people I graduated with or know...but most everyone I hang out with (besides you backpackers) are here in Columbus. I graduate in October.” 10:40:56 PM 4/25/04 “October? That's weird timing.” 10:43:49 PM 4/25/04 “Trimesters. Last weekend of October I think. School sucks.” 10:45:34 PM 4/25/04 “Trimesters are funny little things” 10:46:52 PM 4/25/04 Jump to Page << prev
