They hardly use the stuff down here in construction and Lowes would only sell me a roll 150 feet long by 9 foot wide, that's a bit much.” 8:43:25 PM 3/17/04 “yeah i talked to her a bit before school but not since...probably nappin” 8:46:10 PM 3/17/04 “i got my new pack and some more gear in today, finally” 8:47:32 PM 3/17/04 “Are you stationed on a land base or on a ship?” 8:54:11 PM 3/17/04 “a ship, we are in port for now” 8:59:23 PM 3/17/04 “im back from dub's house.. he cooked me a candlelight dinner.” 9:04:32 PM 3/17/04 “that was awful nice of him” 9:05:17 PM 3/17/04 “i thought so” 9:12:33 PM 3/17/04 “let me guess..... baked chicken?” 9:14:51 PM 3/17/04 “Dejornos” 9:15:38 PM 3/17/04 “did you mind your manners, and tell him thanks” 9:18:54 PM 3/17/04 “It was chicken backed in italian dressing topped with rosemary, garlic and herbs power, onion powder, and lowrey's seasoning salt. Green beans was a side dish.” 9:29:02 PM 3/17/04 “I never had backed chicken before; was it good?” 9:30:05 PM 3/17/04 “Well, backed chicken is kinda like baked chicken but it comes from a chicken that has been backed over by a car rather than one slaughtered in a chicken farm.” 9:31:42 PM 3/17/04 “ah, I see. extra flavor from the ground in road goop.” 9:34:55 PM 3/17/04 “The added gravel helps you chew and digest it better too.” 9:35:56 PM 3/17/04 Crap! “Dangit! I forgot I have a paper due tomorrow and I didn't read the chapter yet! Ruins my evening plans! And to top it off, that class starts at 7am...” 9:37:35 PM 3/17/04 “I'm skeptical about the help in chewing, I think it'd help me break teeth.” 9:37:42 PM 3/17/04 “hahahha, okay BIRD” 9:38:11 PM 3/17/04 “I hate when that happens Dub!” 9:39:06 PM 3/17/04 “I'm gonna be up for another 2 hours and I was planning on going to bed at midnight, sucks...better get to reading now.” 9:41:07 PM 3/17/04 “To answer your prior question... having a $30 G car, a big TV and a trailer is okay.... if you're just out of school, but it's a poor strategy. I don't know of much that looses value faster than a car... unless it's consumer goods (like that big TV).” 9:43:38 PM 3/17/04 “time for a shower, i might be around later on, if not, g'nite all.” 9:45:12 PM 3/17/04 “Having worked in the, ahem, Manufactured Housing Industry for a couple of yers, I can confirm that the mobile home loses value faster than the car. And the repo rate is much much higher while the lender recovery percentage is much much lower.” 9:52:09 PM 3/17/04 “im stupid country boy terms?” 9:53:51 PM 3/17/04 “in*” 9:55:50 PM 3/17/04 “LOL the trailer value goes to zero or damn close pretty fast after someone sets it on a lot and moves in. The used car is worth a lot more compared to it's original new cost. Mobile homes go into repo by the dozens every day - its driven half the manufacturers in the business into bankruptcy. Once they repo it they only get 30 or 49 cents on the dollar when they try to resell it. They tried selling them like cars, only with 30 year notes. It was a failed strategy. The company I worked for (in their accounting/tax department) is in bankruptcy now and being bought out by the only strong player left in the industry.” 9:58:46 PM 3/17/04 Hey Batman “since your in the Navy, you'll like this. My son's Scout troop is going to Charleston, SC this weekend to "camp" on the USS Yorktown. He's pretty excited, wish I could go too.” 10:00:23 PM 3/17/04 “yeah that sounds fun uh ok roam” 10:01:09 PM 3/17/04 “The ones that get repoed are usually beat all to hell too. People are bad to "steal" the appliances - even the toilets and carpet. Holes in the walls, it goes on and on. I saw some where we actually spent more to fix the thing than we were able to re-sell it for. They are big and expensive to move around too.” 10:06:07 PM 3/17/04 “damn, that sucks” 10:06:49 PM 3/17/04 “If it weren't putting us all out of work, it wouldv'e been kinda comical. Some of the worst business decisions ever made were in the mobile home business during the late 90's.” 10:07:44 PM 3/17/04 “We used to joke that the only good answer would be to move all the repos to the Carolina Coast and pray for a hurricane.” 10:08:45 PM 3/17/04 “So you're saying I could pick one up pretty cheap, eh? I've thought of buying a place out in the country and putting a single-wide on it, just to have a get-away.” 10:14:15 PM 3/17/04 “Look for a repo lot and you can get it DIRT CHEAP. Like 50 cents on the dollar or better. Clayton homes is about to buy out Oakwood, so the deals may be good as Clayton tries to cut it's inventory.” 10:16:03 PM 3/17/04 “I gotta get that place in the country first... Heck I could probably find one with a house on it already for not too much money. I'd still get a trailer though, and some cars to put up on blocks. Gotta keep up appearances, ya know.” 10:18:08 PM 3/17/04 “i haven't left yet.” 10:18:48 PM 3/17/04 “Yeah, you don't want the neighbors thinking your all uppity.” 10:18:52 PM 3/17/04 “#&%!$ Scorch, me and Luke were just about to start talkin about you too.” 10:19:33 PM 3/17/04 Hey Scorch “Did you kick their butts in the debate?” 10:20:35 PM 3/17/04 “lucky for you you came back... : )” 10:21:11 PM 3/17/04 “hey folks easy with the trailer house comments” 10:22:20 PM 3/17/04 “just redneck jokin, I've lived in one before.” 10:23:36 PM 3/17/04 “i lived in one for 18 years” 10:25:41 PM 3/17/04 “ya hick ; ) roam, it went well, very well. talk about me how?” 10:28:26 PM 3/17/04 “It's the quality/character of the people that makes them rednecks, not where they live.” 10:29:03 PM 3/17/04 “Yah me too, for a few months. jest funnin'...” 10:29:04 PM 3/17/04 “we cant tell you how we were gonna talk about you, that would defeat the point of talking about you behind your back” 10:29:25 PM 3/17/04 “Cool Scorch. My meeting this morning ROCKED. Went in to deliver a project and review the results, came out with a whole new project for them. Client was happy, boss is happy, what more could I ask for?” 10:30:58 PM 3/17/04 Jump to Page << prev
