We wear our shoes in the house, don't clean, leave stuff everywhere, etc. Typical guys. Well yesterday I came home and had to look twice to make sure I was in the right house--super clean. And new rule...no shoes in the house. This goes perfectly with the changes I've been making in my life lately. I started off a few months ago by working on my spiritual life: started hanging around with good people, found a church for 20-something people, stopped getting drunk every weekend (well, I try), been trying hard to change the way I relate to women, etc. Then last month I started working on my mind: began reading books and lots of them, stopped watching TV as much, started doing my reading assignments for school and putting more effort into the work, started learning a new word every day, etc. Then this month marked a period of chaning my body: started eating healthier, started cardio 3 times a week, lifting twice a week, going to start mountain biking again at least two days a week. So I've been doing pretty good with the exception of a couple occasions. And most of all I feel great! I feel much happier and it seems my life is more positive now than it used to be. So when I saw the house clean it was a dream come true. It pretty much covers another step to take in "cleaning up" my life. It's so nice to have a clean house, it just adds to the postive feeling. As for the shoes...couple reasons. Shoes have dirt on them and when you walk through the house the carpet fibers grab some of the dirt and sometimes the dirt is forced into the carpet fibers by your body weight. Some of the dirt can be removed by regular vacuuming, some is imedded so much that a professional cleaning is required (or shampooing). Also, shoes are harder than your carpet and will wear it down faster than your foot or socks which are softer. Another reason is rocks. Sometimes small rocks get stuck in the bottom of your shoes. When you walk across linolium and hardwood floors with one of these pebbles in your shoes, it can remove the wax from the floor, scratch it, and cause little indentations, quickly destroying your investment. At least that's what I read on a poster on the wall in the carpet store when I purchased my burber carpet. My linolium is only a couple years old and it's completely destroyed from wearing shoes on it all the time.
