No simer-it has a certain type of appeal.

I hardly ever read the same book twice so I end up with a shelf full and every so often I cart a big box to whatever local library I happen to live close to at the time.

I'll go with it.

First off.... "Nixon!!..

Now as to the other. Leary was mentioned in the book as well as Owsley. Lots o good stuff even into the late '70's. Tom Wolfe did this book and then went on t owrite the book "hell's angels" about the stones concert at altamonte springs among other things.

Roam, the first weekend in March is Sipsey. The second one is when I am going to MI now. Turns out that many other people couldn't make it the first weekend either.

Simer, there is a book club thread somewhere and I can't find it. They talk about it in Maples, "What to read" thread.

Who are these friends in Mich? The Michigan Mountaineers? Or some weird sex cult group that you're gonna spend a wanton weekend without your pants, calling all females "madam" ?

Curious minds want to know

LOLOL....

The story the killed me was the one about the CIA thinking the KGB was in possession of 1000 hits (when they really had less than 100).... So, fearing an 'acid gap,' Central Intelligence orders up Ten Thousand Hits from Sandoz, LOLOLOL....

They take delivery and then they begin to wonder What In The Hell are they going to do with all that stuff??? They wind up giving it to the headshrinkers at colleges and universities that already have other gov't contracts, to study this new psychoactive substance and tell them what use they might put it to... mind control? brain-washing?

So what do the university shrinx do? They give it to their STUDENTS to run experiments on, to study the effects -- and Hey! The kids liked the effects! They liked them so much that they figured out how to make it themselves....

So, as it turns out, all the crazy hippies on college campuses in the 60s got turned on to LSD curtesy of the government of the United States of America and the CIA.

Isn't that a lovely story? <GRIN>
