Fed ex is running though adn pretty much the rest of the commercial world is open.” 3:10:08 PM 10/11/04 “geez, is this a holiday? I'm surprised the faculty didn't take off today! 8P you guys know how to spell 'facetious'? or better yet, pronounce it?” 3:14:06 PM 10/11/04 “fa shee shus” 3:14:48 PM 10/11/04 “What is there to salvage off the hard disks? Didn't you say you formatted them already? Boot to a floppy or CD, go to DOS, format them again and try XP once again. If that doesn't work...upgrade.” 3:25:31 PM 10/11/04 My own problem “Now I'm having my own little computer problem...Windows XP has some type of little preview program that lets you browse pictures fast using the left and right keys...but I just upgraded to SP2 last night and now it's gone! Anyone know the name of the program or where it's located in the directory structure?” 3:28:37 PM 10/11/04 “You guys missed a great trip this weekend. Here is a little taste. ”5:42:14 PM 10/11/04 Dub “Open your folder and click the "view" menu. Select "customize this folder..." Under "What kind of folder is this?" select "Photo Album" This should allow you to select "Filmstrip" as one of your view types.” 5:47:32 PM 10/11/04 “wow, that's a great shot Lurch” 5:49:11 PM 10/11/04 “Nice pic Zac!!” 5:51:22 PM 10/11/04 “That was one of the best sunrises I've seen in a long time.” 5:54:03 PM 10/11/04 “ ![]() 6:03:29 PM 10/11/04 “Nice pictures. And I hate film stip mode in my pictures.” 6:43:31 PM 10/11/04 “I take it nothing happens when you right click and select preview. *edit* I think the program you are looking for is "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer" last edited: 10/11/04 6:50:38 PM” 6:46:33 PM 10/11/04 “Yeah, I finally found that after a Google...and right click preview took you to the photo editor.” 7:42:10 PM 10/11/04 ““fa shee shus” no, roam, it's fa-see-shus no shee shaw in there. nice pics!!!” 8:05:02 PM 10/11/04 Fall is here! “View from Treadway Mountain ”9:05:20 PM 10/11/04 “I love backpacking in the fall.” 9:39:03 PM 10/11/04 “I'm basically done for the year. I might do deer camp in early November one weekend, but other than that I'm done. Time to get my hunting gear ready. Deer season starts in two weeks.” 9:44:33 PM 10/11/04 “Dub, you still awake?” 11:03:46 PM 10/11/04 “Yo, I'm up for a few more. Just got off work.” 11:34:43 PM 10/11/04 “Cool, just had that question about TC4. I was pretty glad to be going and I saw you had been on pretty recently and would probably have an answer.” 11:36:44 PM 10/11/04 “Yeah man, lets move the conversation over here.” 11:38:23 PM 10/11/04 “Things are settling down at work so I have a little more time to post. For awhile I could only get on for like 5 minutes a day...kinda cut into my backpacking as well...but now I'm back on track. You see my new tent?” 11:40:15 PM 10/11/04 “I guess you went for a winter tent since you've got the hammock?” 11:41:45 PM 10/11/04 “Actually this tent will now be my favorite three season tent when hammocking is not an option (colder weather like at TC4) or when I take someone else since it sleeps two comfortably. In winter I'll stick to the REI Half Dome I have since it's sturdy and can stand up against snow...the ML doesn't have much support against snow.” 11:44:16 PM 10/11/04 “Hey, when does the hike start for the cook off? I said I wouldn't do it but it might be timed just right depending on how quickly I get there.” 11:45:30 PM 10/11/04 “send me a picture of the tent as well, or post a link for me.” 11:47:01 PM 10/11/04 “do you guys know of anyone that works only weekends? like friday, saturday, sunday only?” 11:47:11 PM 10/11/04 “You can hike in anytime you want, the cookoff started at 5pm last year and you had an hour to cook...I'm assuming this year will be the same. Gonna send the family up on the bus and then hike in yourself? There is also a jeep trail that takes you pretty close to the site...towndawg knows more about it if you're interested in it...but you definately need a 4x4.” 11:47:24 PM 10/11/04 “J, the tent is posted in this thread...change your date range to two days and it should show. H, I used to know people who worked only weekends and went to school during the week. But that sucks a lot.” 11:48:23 PM 10/11/04 “i'm thinking of making the switch, but i know i'd miss my weekends. i wonder if the trade-off is worth it?” 11:49:33 PM 10/11/04 “Helinka, I dream about it, does that count?” 11:50:19 PM 10/11/04 “Well, for my friend it wasn't...he couldn't hang out with anyone at all since he had to get in 30 hours in three days and then studied and went to class the other 4 days. I'm sure though if you weren't going to school and had kids that weren't in school it might be nice.” 11:51:23 PM 10/11/04 “my kids are in school, so i'd be there all week for them. the hours are still night shift...4-5am + shift premium etc. if i changed, i have to commit to two years” 11:54:06 PM 10/11/04 “wow...that's a big commitment...and that could cut into your backpacking time, especially TT group trips. I wouldn't do it but that's me.” 11:55:47 PM 10/11/04 “Dub, who's the chick? I figured they'd have a general time for the contestants to start. I didn't see anything on the site but if the cook-off starts around 5 I think I could do the hike with just water on my back. Either that or I'll be really late for the cook-off. I'll see if Lizs has a timeline for the event.” 11:56:28 PM 10/11/04 Bedtime “Anyway guys...I'm off third shift this week so it's back to bed early. See you in the morning! Night all.” 11:56:38 PM 10/11/04 “J, she's my girlfriend. I'm sure that the contest will have a start/stop time and I think you have to carry your food and stuff in...I'd ask Smokeygirl about it. I'm looking forward to seeing you and your family again. Talk to you guys later.” 11:58:17 PM 10/11/04 “i didnt get out much this year & i doubt i'm gonna have much time in my forseable future - maybe a couple short trips a year until my kiddies are older.” 12:00:02 AM 10/12/04 “Yes, my dream doesn't have me in school. I'm actually putting together some plans for a booth at Trader's World right now. If I can turn a profit I'm quitting my job so I can hike during the week. At this point I'm not holding my breath but it's worth a shot.” 12:01:24 AM 10/12/04 “SJ you could still upgrade during the week. one or two courses a year shouldn't take up too much trail time” 12:03:15 AM 10/12/04 “Dub, the cook-off is from 4 - 6. Helinka, I'm done with school. I enjoyed working better when I was getting jobs based on a H.S. Diploma rather than a degree. I wasn't cut out for this desk jockey stuff.” 12:06:44 AM 10/12/04 “what's traders world? and what would you be doing there?” 12:09:29 AM 10/12/04 “It's a flea market. One of the more modern deals that's more like a mall though. I'd be retailing new products. Basically as long as I make enough to pay rent I figure it's a good deal.” 12:23:13 AM 10/12/04 “Wow...two hours to cook this year. But it takes forever to walk up that mountain with a loaded pack...especially if you stop at the three POIs.” 9:43:55 AM 10/12/04 “Well this is a bunch of crap... lol I never knew that so many non-backpackers would get such a kick out of alcohol stoves... So I'm sitting in my apartment working on the single can design so I can give a demonstration in my wilderness expedition leadership class on how to build an alcohol stove, I chose this design because it's the easiest to teach, and we will be on the trail when I give the demonstration this weekend. Anyways, my neighbor and her boyfriend stop by for a visit and ask me about my "ash tray" on the table. I tell them all about it and show them how to make it, using them as an audience for a dry run on my demonstration, now neither of them backpack - and they think this thing is the coolest thing in the world, she builds one immediately with one of my pop cans and my tools. He spends the rest of the night practicing, then apparently he shows it off to his roomates - none of which backpack, and they all think it's so cool that they'll buy one from him for $10, a day later he has sold 31 stoves to a bunch of crazy college kids... what a crock.” 12:58:05 PM 10/12/04 “If I were you Simer I'd be asking for royalties.” 1:27:04 PM 10/12/04 “Better yet ask for royalties and sell them for $5.” 1:28:51 PM 10/12/04 “thats kinda funny, but you should really try and enforce your "implied license" that you gave him when you shared the design.” 1:41:41 PM 10/12/04 or “just sit back and grin when one of those crazy kids burns down the dorm after they spill the fuel and light a match.” 1:42:18 PM 10/12/04 Jump to Page << prev
