Buy me one while you're at it. I'm broke.” 11:49:31 PM 4/06/04 “Simer, what kinda temp rating do you need in Iceland? I use the 50F standard fleece Wal-Mart sleeping bag in the summer.” 12:25:02 AM 4/07/04 “whats goin on? woke up - weird dream, strange.” 2:19:43 AM 4/07/04 “I've been working on a top secret backpacking program for my website. No other websites have this program and it will be most awesome. I will be recruiting Nightcrawlers as beta testers once I get it up and running.” 2:22:12 AM 4/07/04 “good morning” 2:55:07 AM 4/07/04 “good morning! Ha! Didn't oversleep today.” 5:25:43 AM 4/07/04 “Mornin' I hate getting up at 5 so I can get to work an hour early.” 6:27:06 AM 4/07/04 “What was the dream about?” 7:49:40 AM 4/07/04 “i thought maybe my brain wasn't working last nite, but noooo. this still doesn't make sense: WTH is a backpacking program?” 7:56:35 AM 4/07/04 “be interested to see what Dubula has come up with. Scorch, that's the thing, I don't really remember what the dream was about, just that I woke feeling all weird and out of sorts - all I get is little flashes that seem out of order and stuff. weird.” 8:42:06 AM 4/07/04 “"Simer, what kinda temp rating do you need in Iceland? I use the 50F standard fleece Wal-Mart sleeping bag in the summer." I'm looking for lightweight, 45F or so - has to pack small as I'm thinking of doing a bike trip. Top secret backpacking program? I don't even want to ask, but I'm in.” 11:57:03 AM 4/07/04 “Those little fleece bags should compress pretty small, and they're light - not sure about the temp rating though.” 11:59:51 AM 4/07/04 “I've got the REI Travel Down 45F and I like it. It packs down into a compartment at the foot, so there's no stuff sack to lose. It weighs 1.5 lbs, and stuffs pretty small. It has a hood which helps the rating quite a bit. And the Regular-sized bag is only $99.” 12:00:34 PM 4/07/04 “that's the one i was lookin at bit, I have a 20% discount to use yet and $36 to spend at rei - i'm poor, but this is in my price range.” 12:06:32 PM 4/07/04 “I used it last summer on Mt. Rogers, and with thermals on and my head in the hood, I was fine at about 40F.” 12:10:20 PM 4/07/04 “is it Friday yet?” 2:35:48 PM 4/07/04 “I wish. My boss left for vacation today so of course I get a whole bunch of questions on projects that only she knows the answers to. Oh and if I get one more call from someone trying to reach Rensselaer County Probation I’m going to scream!” 2:41:59 PM 4/07/04 “<looks at watch> Nope.” 2:42:15 PM 4/07/04 “lz, you're not getting into the spirit of things. When they ask for the RCP, say that all probatees have to report to the courthouse at noon tomorrow for summary execution.” 2:46:50 PM 4/07/04 “Got my passport photos re-taken today. They're even worse than the first batch!” 2:49:45 PM 4/07/04 “Your passport photo has to be awful, Scorchy... In my first passport photo, I had a mustache and goatee, sorta like I do now, and I was wearing a brown shirt and dark brown tie. My friends called it my "Hitler Youth" photo. I'm surprised they let me into Japan with that photo...” 2:58:07 PM 4/07/04 “lol bit. I was just going to tell them they didn't need to call anymore.” 3:01:32 PM 4/07/04 “maybe that was the problem, Scorch - the first photo was too flattering.” 3:08:26 PM 4/07/04 “Roam, they are BOTH horrible, I look like a terrorist.” 5:08:40 PM 4/07/04 “wellllll,,,, maybe THAT was the problem.” 5:11:15 PM 4/07/04 “I'm off to first responder tests again... It shouldn't be too tough I hope” 5:33:28 PM 4/07/04 “good luck, remember the key is to respond first!” 5:34:08 PM 4/07/04 “i thought the key was bsi's” 5:35:55 PM 4/07/04 “what a pisser. only like the third time I rode my bike and i ran over something and popped the back tube. easy to fix, but still - rode past a bunch of houses under construction and ran over something I guess. damn contractors should keep their #&%!$ outta the road. gonna go get a tube.” 6:56:38 PM 4/07/04 “choose C” 6:58:17 PM 4/07/04 “ok, tires fixed. currently reading up on Dolly Sods trails.” 8:30:58 PM 4/07/04 “This is for anyone who lives in Atlanta, who has ever lived in Atlanta, has visited Atlanta, ever plans to visit Atlanta, knows anyone who lives in Atlanta, knows anyone who has ever visited Atlanta or anyone who has ever heard of Atlanta, GA. Atlanta is composed mostly of one-way streets. The only way to get out of downtown Atlanta is to turn around and start over when you reach Greenville, SC. All directions start with, "Go down Peachtree" and include the phrase, "When you see the Waffle House." Except that in Cobb County, all directions begin with, "Go to the Big Chicken! and ..." Peachtree Street has no beginning and no end -- and is NOT to be confused with Peachtree Circle, Peachtree Place, Peachtree Lane, Peachtree Road, Peachtree Parkway, Peachtree Run, Peachtree Trace, Peachtree Ave., Peachtree Commons, Peachtree Battle, Peachtree Corners, New Peachtree, Old Peachtree, West Peachtree, Peachtree-Dunwoody, Peachtree-Chamblee, or Peachtree Industrial Boulevard. Atlantans only know their way to work and their way home. If you ask anyone for directions, they will always send you down Peachtree. Atlanta is the home of Coca-Cola. That's all we drink here, so don't ask for any other soft drink -- unless it is made by Coca-Cola. And even then it's still "Coke." A carbonated soft drink isn't a soda, cola, or pop ........it's a Coke -- regardless of brand or flavor. Example: "What kinda coke you want?" Gate One at Atlanta's Hartsfield International Airport is 32 miles away from the Main Concourse, so wear sneakers and pack a lunch! It's impossible to go around a block and wind up on the street you started on. The Chamber of Commerce calls it a "scenic drive" and has posted signs to that effect, so that out-of-towners don't feel lost... they're just on a "scenic drive." The 8:00 AM rush hour is from 6:30 to 10:30 AM. The 5:00 PM rush hour is from 3:00 to 7:30 PM. Friday's rush hour starts Thursday afternoon, and lasts through 2:00 AM Saturday. "Sir" and "Ma'am" are used by the person speaking to you if there's a remote possibility that you're at least 30 minutes older than they are. A native can only pronounce Ponce De Leon Avenue one way, so do not attempt the Spanish pronunciation. People will simply tilt their heads to the right and stare at you. The Atlanta pronunciation is "pahnss duh LEE-on." The fall of a raindrop makes everyone forget all traffic rules. If a single snowflake falls, the city is paralyzed for three days -- and it's on all the TV channels and radio stations as a news flash every 15 minutes for a month. All the grocery stores will be sold out of milk, bread, bottled water, toilet paper, and beer. If there is a remote chance of snow, and if it does snow, people will be on the corner selling "I survived the blizzard" T-shirts, not to mention the fact that all schools will close at the slightest possible chance of snow. The pollen count is off the national scale for unhealthy, which starts at >120. Atlanta is usually in the 2,000 to 4,000(actually around 6000 today) range. All roads, vehicles, houses, etc. are YELLOW from March 28 to July 15. If you have any allergies, you will die. But other than that, it's a great place to live! In Atlanta, you install security lights on your house and garage --and then leave both unlocked. The local papers cover national and international news on one page, but need 6 pages for local gossip and sports. You know whether another Georgian is from North GA, South GA or Middle GA as soon as they open their mouth (Albany = All benny). Going to Wal-Mart is a favorite past time known as "goin' Wal-Martin" OR off to Wally World." Sweet Tea is appropriate for all meals, and you start drinking it when you're 2. If you understand the above, copy it and send them to your friends from GA (and those who just wish they were). ANYONE FROM ATLANTA OR BEEN TO ATLANTA THAT CAN DISAGREE WITH ANYTHING MENTIONED ABOVE???????? i didnt think so....” 9:29:19 PM 4/07/04 “Yup, that about covers it shep, you ARE an Atlantan.” 9:32:41 PM 4/07/04 “You expect me to read all that when I could care less about Atlanta?? LOL” 9:33:30 PM 4/07/04 “and to think I almost moved there.” 9:35:44 PM 4/07/04 “lol scorch if you ever thought about coming or going anywhere near atlanta you shold surely read it...very informative..better than the little pamphlet you would get at a visitors center, and certainly more honest...ahh what paradise...by the way...i got my truck washed on monday, before i could get it out of the parking lot it was already coated with just a light hint of pollen...” 9:39:33 PM 4/07/04 “damn yall kinda quite lately on this thread....i mean its knocking off posts faster than theyre putting them up...” 9:43:22 PM 4/07/04 “we had the whole pollen thing down here last month, thank god its pretty much over, my sinuses couldn't take much more abuse. couple of good rains last week washed the worst of it into the intercoastal, I think.” 9:50:50 PM 4/07/04 “Sup fools? I'm hungry.” 9:53:16 PM 4/07/04 “no hunger here - homemade spaghetti sauce tonight. the boy was sick so I worked from home today, had time to really cook something for a change. he's much better now though, little touch of flu-like symptoms.” 9:58:55 PM 4/07/04 “I only failed one of the tests, but i passed it no prob on the second try, then i sat there and got "stabbed" in the anticupsicckal flendicular of my elbow... or something like that while i got bandaged up time and time again... but i got a free meal out of it :D” 10:35:04 PM 4/07/04 “man, hate it when I get stabbed in the flendicular.... WTH! what kinda class is this? Super-Advanced first aid? You studying to be an EMT?” 10:36:15 PM 4/07/04 “PEEK...where are you guys at 4am when I am in here???” 10:39:41 PM 4/07/04 “it's a step below EMT, into an EMT bridge class... so basically, yeah it's half of an emt class, lots of fun.” 10:40:57 PM 4/07/04 Jump to Page << prev
