TT Feeling Sickly Thread

“I thought since there is a TT injured reserve list, this time of year, there ought to be a feeling sheety thread.

So, without any further delay, I 'd like to welcome our first sickly to this new thread.

Sassafras, you feel better! I am so sorry you are feeling cruddy and can't run with us this morning. Get your rest and drink lots of OJ...get better soon!”

“I'm on this list and have been feeling lousy for the past week. I took some pain medicine yesterday and got sick to my stomach so I had to stop taking it. I had a feeling that would happen since this stuff just doesn't agree with me.”

“The rest of the family is in the throes of a coughing cold and I am resisting. Each morning I wake up with a little scratch in my throat but it goes away.”

“The flu hit us bad over T-giving. Still feeling wiped out. NM and CO have been hit bad with some kid deaths.”

“For fighting off colds I use that Zicam stuff. Start using it right at the first little feeling that you might be getting sick- I swear by the stuff. Cuts the cold right off. Not sure how/if it would work on the flu bug, but worth a try.”

“Zicam is a gel- you coat the inside of your nose (eeewww) with the stuff- it comes in a little plastic bottle like nose spray, but ya don't sniff it. I think I just saw recently that they are making it on throw away cotton swabs too. It's about $9 at Target or any drug store. It is the best stuff. (I should be a spokesperson for the company, huh?) :)”

I think this is probably the first cold I've had in two years. When you don't have them that often, you feel like you're dieing when you do get one. Heelllpp!! I'm dieing here!

Through some miracle the baby hasn't had it yet. I'm a little worried about this flu going around. We're trying to find someone with flu shots left before it gets bad around here. They say this one is particularly dangerous for babies.”

“Seriously guy's I'm a nurse a Vanderbilt, and we have had several extremely serious cases of the flu. And more every day. The emergency department is running over with very ill patients. So if you haven't had your flu shot, get one, if you get the flu go to your Doctor, it can be treated, and the symptoms reduced, if treated within the first 48 hours of symptoms. This stuff is not something to take lightly! There will be many deaths from this strain of flu, the elderly, chronically ill and very young are at the greatest risk!”

“I heard this week that the flu vaccine is sold out. Not enough was made to keep up with demand and lead time is a few months which would be too late.”

“They're out of the flu shots here. Everyone but my dad was able to get one. The clinics are out of both types of vaccine, the injection and the nose spray. The tech who gave me the shot didn't know what she was doing; that sumbeatch still hurts! At least I got it though.”

I still giving her the Zicam, but it says it may not be effective for the flu...bout the only thing I could actually see working was the aspirin dropping her fever.

“Hey, MtnSteve, I had a bad case of the flu about 6 years ago. I could NOT break my fever of the same 102.5. My relationship came to an end at my surprise, and my fever broke. So, just tell your wife you want a divorce and see if that works. I also lost 20 pounds.:)”

As for my wife, luckily her fever broke ....after 34 years, the threat of divorce wouldn't have had the same effect I'm afraid ;-)

“Man, this is a scary thread! I'm happy to report that I had a teeny tiny cold last week and am over it now. After 6 years of catching, on average, a cold about every 5-6 weeks, I've been remarkably healthy for the past 3 years or so. And this healthy run all started when I got my first flu shot. Of course, doctors will tell you that the flu shot has absolutely no effect on your immune system overall, but whatever works, I say....

Numerous people around me have had the nasty cold but I haven't seen that flu yet... I've been taking my daily vitamin w/ an extra dose of C and Zinc every day. And, Echinachea, twice a day. Hopefully, I'll kick these illnesses before they even start. Oh, and I didn't get a flu shot, either. Word on the street is that we're out of it, too.”
