Am I the first to get one of these?

4 LEDs - no brighter but a wider beam
3 brightness levels & strobe
swivels like the aurora

I was just checking out the Zipka Plus yesterday! Looks likea great UL light. Same as the Tikka Plus, but with the Zipka retractable headstrap thing. Packs small and uses easy-to-find AAA batteries. I'll be picking up one of 'em soon.

MM doesn't that thin little string cut into your head after awhile?

I like LED flasahlights but don't like headlamps. I would rather aim my light with my hand. I do bring an elastic headstrap on my spare flashlight though. I do occasionally wear a headlamp when showshoeing at night with 2 trekking sticks.

Vilolin - I hadn't heard of the new Tikka until this thread - looks pretty cool. The product development teams for headlamp companies must sit around a table flipping through catalogs of competitiors and say "let's do that only a little better."

I hiked with a guy using the rayovac led headlamp which has three types of light one of which was red. It was pretty cool too.

Violin is making sure he gets his quota of gear threads in...doesn't want to be accused of anything.

I think the ultimate headlamp would be one that has both LED and a regular bulb. Nothing is better for night hiking than my Princeton Tech Solo with a halogen bulb.

That sucks, sunnny....and that's one of the reasons I use rechargable NiMH or Lithiums...they don't leak like alkalines...

Where can I get lithium batteries? My Petzl Myobelt 5 uses C cells.

I've seen them in Walmart and CVS, also other places, but can't recall where.

I did leave the batteries in mine but they were fine. I pulled them out. I'll put fresh ones in, just in case I forget again next winter. I can be such a moron.
