Not very . Only fired about 2000 rds through it. Main problem I have found is that the barrel gets overly hot and the fore guard does a poor job of insulating your hand. Fun plinking gun but I would not want to go to war with it !Prefer a 7.62 cal for the knock down capabilities.”

“Mutt, basicly a single piece handguard/upper receiver...they can extend the rails the length of the unit, which makes it stronger....and a bigger plus is you can then optimize the acuracy with a free floating barrel....(and it's COSTLY...you win the lottery?)

These guys are going some pretty great things with the Monolithic, and they have a great reputation.....

“Trubrit i prefer the traditional handguard too, I have no need for whiz bang stuff on mine (though it has a purpose in some applications). I have heard of more heat issues with the old school vs picatinny.

Mutt, not sure about smoothness in the 16vs 14.5, i never noticed a big difference, but your accuracy will be a bit better with the longer sight plane. My old dpms was mid length and was more accurate than my new one in carbine (also dpms) but it had a full heavy barrel.”

“i shoot left due to a left dominate eye also. I've heard you can train intensively to change dominance or wear a patch on your dominate eye, but I wouldn't and I think it's too much trouble.

Just wear shooting glasses and long sleeves when shooting a gun that throws brass right, or find a brass deflector, you'd be amazed at the models they have them for.
