Darwinism - the belief that a universe full of matter emerged from nothing blah blah blah

Fail

Darwinism has nothing to do with the origin of the universe

also, as i understand it, no one is claiming that the universe emerged from nothing. rather, all the matter in the universe was compressed into a singularity. thats not nothing. yogisan or someone else who knows what they are talking about can correct me if im wrong

What I have a hard time reconsiling is that according to christianity each man is appointed but a single time to die (paraphrasing) yet when Jesus died graves broke open and the dead walked the land. Who were these guys and if they were dead according to their single time to die, are they still alive? And if the dead came out of the ground and walked around why is there no contemporaneous historical records of this happening? I mean, shyt, dead dudes walking around town is pretty damn note worthy. And further more, did they crave brains?

Matt 27

51At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split. 52The tombs broke open and the bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. 53They came out of the tombs, and after Jesus' resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many people.

crash, the origin of the singularity is what's in question

scientists will say it quantum leaped from another universe

that's not the origin of it

You and I agree. Now tell that to the scientists & ask them again, what the origin of matter is.

maybe. but all that proves is that even the best of our minds just cant wrap around such esoteric concepts

to me, it's like the little old lady in the fable: A well-known scientist (some say it was Bertrand Russell) once gave a public lecture on astronomy. He described how the earth orbits around the sun and how the sun, in turn, orbits around the center of a vast collection of stars called our galaxy. At the end of the lecture, a little old lady at the back of the room got up and said: "What you have told us is rubbish. The world is really a flat plate supported on the back of a giant tortoise." The scientist gave a superior smile before replying, "What is the tortoise standing on?" "You're very clever, young man, very clever," said the old lady. "But it's turtles all the way down!"[

even if we could figure the origin of matter, well then, what about the origin of the mechanics of the origin of matter? every answer brings harder to answer questions

the story is a quote from hawking, for the citation-police

All dressed up with nowhere to go.....
Walkin' with a dead man over my shoulder
All dressed up with nowhere to go.....
Walkin' with a dead man over my shoulder

Its only me!

Waiting for an invitation to arrive
Goin' to a party where no one's still alive
Waiting for an invitation to arrive
Goin' to a party where no one's still alive

chorus:
I was struck by lighting
Walkin' down the street
I was hit by something last night in my sleep
It's a dead man's party
Who could ask for more?
Everybody's comin', leave your body at the door
Leave your body and soul at the door
Don't run away..... it's only me! (echo)

All dressed up with nowhere to go
Walkin' with a dead man, with a dead man
Waitin' for an invitation to arrive
Walking with a dead man, dead man, dead man

Got my best suit and my tie
Shiny silver dollar on either eye
I hear the chauffeur comin' to my door
Says there's room for maybe just one more

(inst. break)

(chorus)

Don't run away it's only me
Don't be afraid of what you can't see
Don't run away it's only me
Its only me
Its only me

(chorus)

Don't run away it's only me
Don't be afraid of what you can't see
Don't run away it's only me
Don't be afraid of what you can't see

Its only me
Its only me

Invisible Pink Unicorns are beings of great spiritual power. We know this because they are capable of being invisible and pink at the same time. Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.

- True, so they should stop pretending to understand origins.

what is the origin of god? if your answer is "god always was", my question is: how is that possible?

- "god always was"

It's possible because a spirit (somebody who is in another dimension), follows different physical laws. With a newtonian universe, infinite existence is impossible, but not necessarily when you follow other physics. The problem with a singularity is that it depends on newtonian physics to "pre-exist". When does it end? Rabbits don't pull themselves out of a hat except on Bugs Bunny.

I think your understanding of singularity is incomplete... I am not able explain it in any meaningful terms but that doesn't mean others can't...

Lemme recommend www.galaxyzooforum.org for such discussions...

They usually talk about Astronomy and Visual Astronomical Objects... but there are a few VERY smart folks there..

i ask in a sincere desire to understand, not to ridicule or criticize.

like you, i believe that science will always fall short of giving us 100 percent of the answers. maybe The Answer lies out there in one, or many faiths.

i put myself down as being closer to a pandeist or pantheist, and maybe slightly buddhist. but im not really active in the religions. just my way of thinking lines up with those lines of thought

It makes sense that something has always existed; otherwise, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

We do know that our "dimension" is not that thing, because everything we know points to an (not-yet) identifiable origin of our universe.

The real puzzling question is "how could nothing at all have not always existed?". (yes, that sentence makes sense - read it again)

- Do you think God is a turtle? I've seen no evidence of that. I have, on the other hand, seen evidence of the God identified in the bible, so I'm sticking to that theory.

Sarcastic hypotheticals can be used in any conversation, but they're pretty useless in one where answers are actually sought. Are you seeking answers, or argument?
