Got to thank Scorchfire for bringing me to the EMS she works at.” 9:28:44 AM 2/11/08 “Good score, Zac. Gawd I wish I could get out right now.” 10:43:16 AM 2/11/08 “what kinda bindings zac?” 10:44:11 AM 2/11/08 “They're Rottefella's NNN BC Auto's. They didn't have manual bindings in stock. I probably could have ordered them, but then I wouldn't have been able to get the bindings mounted for free.” 7:44:41 AM 2/12/08 “OR Snowline shell mitts and OR PL 300 fleece liner mitts. They should make a good system. I can even comfortably wear my polypro liner gloves under it all for an extra layer if needed.” 3:29:29 PM 2/12/08 “bought a tomtom one xl-s driving computer. those that know me know love driving with my gps... but this thing has traffic updates/etc and is easier to use in the car so it will help with work. well what i found was that the maps on the thing are far more detailed than many of the park topos i have (forest roads, gravel/dirt roads/etc) and in fact more accurate than google maps. my lat/long waypoints were spot-on with the tomtom maps and likewise on with google sattelite images but the google road locations were less detailed and often in the wrong places (by a small amount i admit). oh, it does come off the dash and can be used handheld. this would be handy for documenting trail head parking/etc like i do today for my gps. i already have all my parking lots for favorite climbing crags at rrg plugged into it... very nice!” 10:24:07 AM 2/23/08 “COOL! I need one of those, but first I need a second car LOL!” 10:26:57 AM 2/23/08 “map and compass work is a dying art.” 10:42:18 AM 2/23/08 “For sure orienteering is not taken as serioiusly as it prolly should be. Still most ppl stick to well marked trails and even a GPS is easily replaced by a little thinking and a simple map.” 11:08:34 AM 2/23/08 “I don't need GPS for the trails, im happy with map and compass, but for city streets.....Can't find my way outta paper bag and thats the truth!” 11:11:35 AM 2/23/08 “That all said, it does sound like a really neat toy. I didn't mean to short change you on that.” 11:17:56 AM 2/23/08 “as if i don't do that to fridge and others on a regular basis. it's part of being a pita.” 3:52:16 PM 2/23/08 “whats a pita?” 3:57:04 PM 2/23/08 “pain in the ass” 4:00:56 PM 2/23/08 “What model did you get? I am looking at the Garmin Nuvi 850.” 4:01:19 PM 2/23/08 “bump” 12:27:33 PM 2/24/08 “Got a new fridge and stove and will get a new (brand new, that is) freezer next Thursday. These are the first large, new appliances since the divorce fifteen years ago. Things are looking up from poverty and emergency repairs into improvement. BUT I used some of the insurance money to put Dynafit bindings on my G3 skis. I put the Silvretta 500's on the white, Canadian army skis I scored at Cascade near Lake Placid when the boneheads and I were there. Jury's still out on the Dynafit's, but I won't be able to test them for another ten days as the knee heals. I wanted Euro sexy, but they look fragile and more complicated than the Silvretta's. I'll post a review soon. last edited: 2/27/08 9:33:01 AM” 9:30:32 AM 2/27/08 “How many deer carcasses will the new freezer hold?” 9:41:10 AM 2/27/08 “Well, I had two caribou in the old one. This year I'll star gardening again and will prolly get the same size, or a touch smaller. (I'm applying for a female deer permit this year. I swore I'd never do it, but now that I'm a retired former rural school teacher, nothing will be wasted and everything appreciated.)” 12:09:10 PM 2/27/08 2:04:25 PM 2/27/08 “Look what I bought for myself!!!!!! http://www.rei.com/online/store/ProductDisplay?storeId=8000&catalogId=40000008000&partNumber=737339&preferredSku=7373390058&cm_mmc=cse_froogle-_-datafeed-_-product-_-na&mr:trackingCode=860A94DF-31E6-DC11-AA92-001422107090&mr:referralID=NA ain't it purdy???” 6:30:30 AM 3/01/08 “does the knife side of the fork ever cut the side of your mouth? i saw that at REI the other day and was wondering...” 6:33:57 AM 3/01/08 “lol.....actually I suppose ya have to be careful!!!...” 6:41:47 AM 3/01/08 “I hope you like it. NGB and I each have one and the knife on the fork side wasn't the problem. The shape of the "bowl" on the spoon was so deep that the lip of the spoon was cutting the corner of my upper lip. I don't use it anymore.” 6:46:02 AM 3/01/08 “Oh...I still LOVE my titanium spork the BEST!!!!!” 6:47:33 AM 3/01/08 “LOL! They are $1.89 at Walmart. No the knife side is incredibly dull and useless IMHO. I hope you like yours better than I liked mine Divinity. One of the downers is that by using the spoon you are holding the fork with your dirty fingers, and if you need to use both ends during the same meal you not only get food on your hands, but your hands get germs into your food thus increasing the risks of giardia etc. I think I'll stick to my taco bell sporks for now. Just some things to be aware of Div, not trying to rain on your parade. :)” 6:51:52 AM 3/01/08 “but it's cute!!! lol...I will continue to use my titanium!!!! it has a hole so I can run a string though it and keep track of it!!! last edited: 3/01/08 6:56:46 AM” 6:53:53 AM 3/01/08 “oh my...” 7:20:29 AM 3/01/08 “No the knife side is incredibly dull and useless IMHO. what does that mean??” 7:24:09 AM 3/01/08 “I bought myself a new pair of Merrill lightweight hiking boots... :?) Now maybe my feet will do better.” 7:34:44 AM 3/01/08 “It means that no only is there no risk of the knife side of the fork cutting your lips, there is also no risk of it cutting your food! LOL!” 7:34:46 AM 3/01/08 “I've had the light my fire spork for a year. The knife is good for cutting ramen..or scraping around in a foil tuna pack to get the tuna out of the corners. Can't say I've ever tried to use the fork. But I've worked the spoon enough thats for sure.” 7:40:40 AM 3/01/08 “I just got back from Montreal. Yesterday I received an unexpected insurance cheque and all my bills are paid. This morning I drove in to MEC and got the Integral Designs Expedition bivy sack. I seems to weigh about a quarter of the old, Canadian army bag I'd been using. Can't wait to try it out.” 11:23:33 AM 3/04/08 “Bring it to Trail Dayz.” 2:04:25 PM 3/04/08 “My stove arrived today. Now I need the pump to fit it to the fuel bottle. My poor wife rolled her eyes. hehehehehehe. She's used to it by now but still doesn't entirely understand.” 10:36:15 AM 3/05/08 “I ordered this child carrier yesterday: http://www.rei.com/product/765837 It should be in next Thursday just in time for the granddaughter's first birthday. Her party is the 15th. She was born on St. Patrick's Day! Another reason to celebrate being Irish!!!” 11:06:43 AM 3/05/08 “Ramblinrev is this the same stove Precision had?” 4:05:27 PM 3/05/08 “the very same. arrived today. looks very nice... I need to be able to pump it. I have the bottles I need.” 5:35:18 PM 3/05/08 “whee doggies... I have an internal frame pack now. A gregory G pack. It has got more straps and buckles than I have ever seen before. It took me about half an hour to try and figure out what buckle goes where and why. It should fit although I am at the end of it's torso length. But that's ok. It is a long way from my Kelty design external frame. Looking forward to getting it out to play. Thanks to you know who you are. :?)” 8:16:33 AM 3/10/08 “Cool, Rev. Doug” 10:45:13 AM 3/10/08 “I'm smiling! Pack, hammock and 15 degree synth bag is 12 pounds....! No sleep pad... but I do have a rescue blanket to put under my bag in the hammock. Do I really need a pad if I am the hammock?” 2:12:47 PM 3/10/08 “depends on the wind and the air temp but basically you need a pad or an underquilt” 2:14:50 PM 3/10/08 “http://www.autocot.com/?gclid=COeYnpyzlJICFQIgPAodOgnMjg check this out... ROTFL....hahahahahhaaaaaa” 8:01:20 AM 3/17/08 Jump to Page << prev
