buddur - these pants will be big on me, but I have to account for the fact that they will be the top layer (depending on moisture) over my fleece and possible thermals. FYAO here I come!!

The Bear Is On Top Of Things.............As Usual
Wow Buddha, you Ebay also? I haven't seen that auction yet but regularly search Ebay for "Chugach" and rarely are there pants, mostly the MH jackets and Alaska Chugach Range pics/postcards or even knives.

Unfortunately, the pants are size Large (I'd need Med), and there are already 8 bidders who want them. And not knowing if the previous owner is as anal about his gear as I am, I'm not sure if the dood stored them unscrunched as they should have been stored.

Regardless, I have this gnawing feeling that I'll own a brand spanking new pair of these pants before this winter is in full force. Maybe even before Thanksgiving if ya know what I'm getting at nudge nudge wink wink say no more?!?!

Very impressive!
WhenI came homw from work today, the pants where already here. I choose standard shipping and they came in two days. Very nice. Props to the peeps at REI- Outlet. Excellent serivce.

BTW - Buddur:
The pants are not as big on me as I thought they would be. Perfect amount of room for an extra layer. FYI I have a 34 waste and they have a built in belt.

I DID IT...I BOUGHT SOME CHUGACH PANTS!!!
Well, my justifications are as follows...
1) This is the 3rd winter I've had my eyes on 'em.
2) I have yet to see them onsale in the offseason, so fullprice is the inevitible.
3) I'm going to get them someday, so why not now?
4) Cause dagnabbit I WANT THEM!!!

Sooooo...I just went ahead and ordered some.

NICE BUDDUR!

By jove, I've done it! I have been able to sell several pieces of gear that I don't need, and get a few things that I do need for roughly the same cost. The big prize!!!!

Moonstone 800 Abruzzi Ridge II Long - Regularly $610.....%50 off at a gamblers sale at my local gear store..., and paid for by sales of stuff I was no longer using! Man I love ebay!

I'm back from my San Diego trip and I hit REI and Adventure 16 while there.
Only thing I bought was some food stuff and a new pancake turner, LOL.
Saw and sat in a Sling-Lite backpacking chair like Snow Nymph has. Very comfy! Would have bought one if I didn't have to fly back. Couldn't see letting the airline bend it up.
I must have too much gear, didn't see anything else I needed. Ha Ha.

Well I just got done calculating how much I've spent in the last few months on new gear... it's over 1500... damn. This is all including all my car-camping stuff too though, and I bought a lot of new stuff for that cause my old stuff was getting... old. Getting started sure is expensive!

Picked up a pair of OR crocodile gaitors from Campmor last night. I was also trying on a pair of full zip rain pants and unclipped my cell phone from my belt and put it down and of course I left it there. I just called them and luckily they have it so I guess I just have to go back to there.

I've used the guidelight for over two years now. You won't be disappointed! In winter, you'll want to use a z-rest underneath.

Enjoy!

thanks Buddha Bear!

My old 3/4 length thermarest started leaking on my last trip. I'll repair it, but I wanted a full length thermarest anyway. I've got a variety of sleeping pads, but no Z rest - I use those cheapo rolled up closed cell pads in the winter.

I got the new stove for winter camping - hopefully the FYAO trip if I can make it. Last year I used my pocket rocket in below freezing temps and it worked fine, but I don't want to chance it. I've always avoided stoves with parts, so this should be interesting.

Just ordered the Dual Trac sl snowshoes for trail running. Hoping the 190 lb capacity will also make them effective with a backpack, but I'm hoping for early snow in MI.

Also, got a good deal on a 0 degree polar pod sleeping bag on clearance at REI.com last week.

I'd say I'm done but....

Watch for my upcoming book, "Decorating with Gear"

dhutch, I'd have to include a chapter on "why bicycles belong in the kitchen"

I spent yesterday researching sites for dehydrated vegetables. I used to have a dehydrator, but never really got into it. I like to make up my own backpacking meals and veggies are the hardest things to find.

BB - My basement is finished in to a family room. This winter is the project. I'm going for a lodge look with gear organized on peg board for a couple of the walls. Shelves with boxes/baskets for the small stuff. Framed topo maps and pictures from hikes. Momentos such as the moose antlers etc. I may never leave that room except to hike.

I found a deer stand the other afternoon in the middle of the highway. Its one of the those climbers. Its in great shape for falling out of the back of a truck. Its a $250 item. I might run a ad in the paper since I tried it out Sunday and it's kinda difficult and would take some time to get use to.

Finders keeper's??? Karma?

Thanks stumprider. I've seen those, but I should've said "inexpensive" dehydrated veggies AND I'd like more of a selection. $2/ounce is too much for peas. I found some good bulk retailers.

Personally I find Dana gear to be very well made but a bit heavy. Other than weight I have no complaints about my terraplane.
