I'm contemplating what type of 1/2 gallon to take on my upcoming 3 day canoe trip....

I would welcome any and all suggestions...

128 oz / 3 = wow, that's alot of bourbon for one person.

I don't think I've ever seen good bourbon come in a 1/2 gal. bottle/jug.

dayhiker, why do have to be so judgmental?

Nigal, It doesn't have to be bourbon. But bourbon works well with crystal light lemon aid...

Mixing bourbon? That's like catchup on steak. If ya gotta put catchup on your steak you're eating the wrong steak. IMHO of course.

Stick to the wine coolers dude. LOL!

Get a couple bottles of bulleit bourbon. By the end of the trip you'll throw the lemon aid away.

$22 a bottle and it's one of the best I've ever tried. Others here can confirm.

I wasn't judgemental, just an observation. I wouldn't be able to stand after lunch on day 1 at that rate.

dayhiker, that would be 64/3 or a mere 21 ounces a day.

That's a manageable number.

I found a bourbon to rival my favorite Bulleit bourbon. Elijah Craig 12 year old bourbon. It scored a 8.5 on my Holy Shlt This is Good scale. Until I discovered it's only $25ish! It's a 9.5 now. It's 94 proof but smooth as silk. I thought it was better than Makers or Knob.

IMHO there are several that are way better than Makers on any day. I've tried Elijah but I am a dyed in the wool 100+ proof man so Knob Creek gets the ribbon.

Another over rated is Woodford Reserve...just as soon have Old Yellowstone.

Bullit has been my casual bourbon, but I will be on the lookout for Elijah Craig

Where in the hell have you guys been...Elijah Craig has been sitting right there on the shelf all these years and you've never tried it?It's in my top five but still not close to my fav Eagle Rare.I still haven't trien that Pappy Von whatever yet but as soon as I find it I'm gonna!

I need to try it on it's own because last night I was three glasses deep into a bottle of Buleit before having a couple glasses of it.

I tried to find Pappy Van Winkle but we don't have it in Ohio. That's what we get for allowing the government to handle our liquor sales. The next time I go to Red River Gorge I'm stopping at the liquor barn and get some.

nigal, I was drinking my beer and trying to enjoy my night after the sargeant major told my wife to put on ear muffs, then told one of my soldiers he was being involuntarily redpolyed in 10.5 mos, my team leader asked the SMJ outside to fight, then called him a POGUE, tore him a new ahole, I yelled at our sargeant major and threatened to smash a beer mug over the other SMJs face and somehow decided bourbon would help. Evidently I was wrong, it appears that I was too drunk to be able to breath and drink at the same time. I feel so reintegrated now.

I'll take your word on the tear gas thing.

Please don't suggest that to your hierarchy though, some O-5 might take you seriously and start thinking about getting promoted.
